  1. It’s posted on YouTube for anyone who didn’t get the DVD. Red and blue: History of the Melbourne football club I have this and I’ve watched it several times. It’s really good. Only thing I don’t like is it covers 1987 really well, then skips the 1988 season and just has a brief summary during the 1988 grand final footage. I remember in 1988, making the grand final was a BIG thing. It was so exciting. Ok it turned out to be a disaster, but the lead up to it was awesome. I’ll never forget the feeling. 2000 gets all the attention it deserves with the lead up to the grand final. I’m just wondering why 1988 didn’t get the same treatment? In a way 1988 was more significant as it was our first grand final since 1964. They call the 2000 another ā€œnear miss.ā€ To me it was an embarrassing thrashing. On another note, it does contradict the argument people had on here about the merger night. One person said Ridley did not swear once. He is shown saying ā€œbloodyā€ (a mild swear word, I know, but still argues the point). Also another said he did not raise his voice. He is clearing showing screaming. Not trying to bring that argument back, but it does show more clearly the other point of view. Anyway, I highly recommend viewing. It’s highly informative.
  2. That’s convinced me more than ever this is a better team. We got done by nearly 100 points then. Haven’t been beaten by 30 once this year
  3. Lol don’t worry bring his sister I’ve seen it plenty of times (being mooned as a child)
  4. Wow they sell premiership dvds! That’s some showbag
  5. I though they said it was virtual this year
  6. Why is the world are they doing a bye? Surely both teams will be in Perth. That will just make the torture if we qualify go on for an extra week. What if cases begin happening in Perth? They should get it over as soon as possible
  7. It’s sad it won’t be here, but this is the news most of us knew was coming
  8. Lol and much as I don’t want to, it’s too irresistible to see
  9. I guess I’ll have to see (urgh)
  10. Oh yeah. My brother’s pledged to get one on his bum. Not that I’m keen to see it, but that’s something I’ll have to see to believe
  11. Tic them off: For me: Premiers Blu ray Victory pack (grand finals, finals games and season highlights) Premiers t-shirt (maybe hopefully a tank too) WEG poster Premiership Jersey Framed celebration Poster (hopefully signed) Stubbie holder Probably a whole lot of signed stuff on eBay. Did I forget something?
  12. Thank you. Think my post has been misunderstood. I have no doubt about the contributions Goody made to building us up and I think he’s done a fine job. I just think Roos deserves some thanks too
  13. You can argue then that Roosey Moulded Gawn. He was well established before Goodwin took over. You seem to misinterpreting my post. I’m not denying the effort Goodys done I’m just acknowledging Rooseys contribution to it
  14. Who were our two best players this year. Again, I’m not taking anything away from Goodwin, I’m saying Roosey’s efforts can’t be ignored
  15. They were recruited under him
  16. Majak is there. No way he’s getting a game. Think they all went
  17. I always thought Barassi never got the credit for building our 1987 team. No disrespect to Northy, but he got ALL the praise and Barassi got nothing and his stint here is still largely seen as a failure by most of the football world. Goody got us here but let’s not forget the contribution made by Roos. Petracca and Oliver both were under Roosey. The revival started under him. I’ll always be thankful for his time here. He sowed the seeds of this
  18. Well there you go
  19. I don’t think I could seriously indulge myself in that. As my uncle who’s in poor health is living with my father, I can visit as a carer. Watching it with dad is more important than being there. Youngest brother wants to go, but won’t unless we make it for sure. Bit hard when you need to quarantine.
  20. That’s a bit premature wouldn’t you say?
  21. To answer a former question here, we won’t be wearing our alternate for the rest of the season. If Port make it, they will wear clash strip
  22. I’m all for this, but why am I seeing this in Melbourne Demons?
  23. Yes. 1987 team never would have beaten Carlton in the grand final. Flower, Lyon and Wilson wouldn’t have played. Carlton had easily beat us that year. 1988 team went through a bad slump and in the end was lucky to make it. Hawthorn we’re far too strong. 1998 team was good but too unpredictable to really go all the way. 2000 face facts, we were playing for second all year. Nearly got beaten by Carlton in the elimination final. This is the best team I’ve seen and I’m not young either
