  1. This is what the bye week was? For this? Sheesh
  2. I just have the feeling that this is a one in a lifetime chance. If we don’t take it, it could be another lifetime again. We may never get this chance again and we’re close. So close. I have never had this feeling as a Melbourne supporter before and I’m no spring chicken. More food for thought, Max Gawn is 3 years younger than Jones. How long has he got left? Time will catch up
  3. Did Ken Melville play? I think he’s still alive
  4. Smith https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/melbourne-demons/afl-team-news-preliminary-finals-2021-melbourne-vs-geelong-lineups-michael-hibberd-to-replace-joel-smith-injury/news-story/d318bb9d60a6faf1753254a14ad0ca60
  5. They had a chance to let Perth have it at normal time and give it to us in twilight. The AFL are obsessed with pushing the night grand final and from what I saw online the reaction was overwhelmingly negative
  6. I admire your optimism. But for some it’s more of an issue here. Not to get too personal, but my uncle (a lifelong demon fan) has terminal cancer. We know that this will definitely be his last grand final (we’re really hoping he makes it to Christmas.) My dad is not in the best health either. For many demonland fans here, time is running out. This may be the last chance for a few of us. If not, I’m sure I have a few here have relatives that don’t have a lot of time left. Many people see that chances don’t always come around. Seasons 1989 and 2001 proved that. If we don’t make the best of this, we may not get a better chance and this is by far the best chance we’ve had since 1964. If we don’t win it, this may have been the one chance to win that we lost. I’m certainly not going to do anything drastic if we lose, but there will plenty of tears in my eyes and I will be inconsolable for days
  7. I am scared out of my brains. For football I have never known fear like this before. The fact that this is our best chance to win a premiership in this lifetime and the possibility that this might be our last game for the season is terrifying. I’m almost too fearful to watch the game
  8. We have made 6 preliminary finals since 1964 (1987, 1988, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2018) and we have won 2 (1988 and 2000). We are due to clean up our record.
  9. A topic was just shut down because they mentioned this and was said we can’t endorse this. I just want to be sure

  11. Hmm I’m not sure that it’s a good idea…
  12. Things that annoy me is that so many teams won it before us. Sydney won it in 2005. When Cats won it, it was hard because although we’d been heckled for our lack of success more, we could always say that Cats have suffered longer. Then when dogs won, we inherited the longest-continuing premiership drought. Clubs like Collingwood had the audacity to claim that 2010 broke a “drought.” Especially from people who went through the long “Colliewobbles” era, this seemed almost an insult. It was 20 years, a colour grand final and and AFL premiership. That’s not a drought. Real Collingwood fans know what a drought is. Now I see Geelong fans saying they’ve “waited a long time” for their next premiership. No, sorry 1963-2007 was a long time. This is nothing. They don’t really need or are starved for a premiership. We’re the ones in a drought. We want, deserve and need this more than any other club. I will just tear my hair out if any of these other teams win. They’ve had their turn now they think they have the audacity to claim that they have been waiting a long time. Its our turn. We need to win it for the fans. We will have to give everything and want it more. It’s not going to be given to us. They have to fight tooth and nail for this. Like someone else said here: CUP OR BUST.
  13. “Don’t forget this was a team that went 44 points in front of the premiership favourite. We got this.” Yeah, then what happened?
  14. This. If we win who knows? We may be in for a 63 drought next. We have to take this opportunity and since 1964, we haven’t had a better chance than now. If we can’t win with this current team, I can’t see how we can next year unless we somehow fluke no injuries again
  15. Pretty sure the membership says “non-transferable”
  16. That’s illegal. Plus I could have my membership revoked. Sorry, but no
  17. I watch the grand final every year regardless. But I’ll be spitting mad seeing Geelong there and would never applaud them. Just like seeing a north there in 1998. That was our grand final and I just know we would have beaten the crows. I’ll watch but couldn’t enjoy seeing Geelong or anyone else win yet another one when we’ve been waiting longer than all other teams left. That’s my 5 cents
  18. Wouldn’t it be a shame not to get of seasons review DVD that you get when you win the premiership. They don’t do that for just making the finals anymore, so all these wonderful highlights will never be properly captured. I want to relive them over and over again already
  19. Definitely our best since 1964. I would later reflect that this was a great season where we achieved so much, but if we lost I’d see this as the biggest chance we got that we let slip. We can’t take for granted we’ll get this chance again. They already did in 1965. Never in my life have I ever feel we have a greater chance to win the premiership and this is the first time in my lifetime we’ve been the favourites to take it. We’re so close I can feel it. If we miss this we might never get another chance. My dad and uncle have waited 57 years. My mother never lived to see it. Our time is now. We can’t blow this.
  20. How could it be anything else? All fired up- Pat Benatar This is our whole season’s theme for crying out loud P.s. it was VFL’s theme for 1988. We made the grand final that year too
