  1. I think your onto something! But applies more to another tangent, 27 umpires into a cage only last 3 get out.
  2. Brisbane 18th lost to Dogs at home, and then pumped a woeful GC @ home in last two weeks. Week before a 10 goal loss to WC. We should be looking at a 30 plus points margin. While their top 5-6 midfielders are good, across the rest of the ground they are pretty average. As mentioned by many, get on top early, four quarter effort, build our percentage, banish the past 10-11 years. On reflection, might take a bit more to forget the Neeld years.
  3. He has taken a major step up this year and his ball use has improved out of sight, still surprised to see him #1 for goal assists! Brendan Mc certainly knows how to develop players.
  4. They could set up something equivalent to the MRP which works so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. It would be great to see free kick stats for every team over home & away for last 10 years, to check the % in favour of the home teams across that time! Umpires always say the crowd don't influence them, but it is hard to believe when you see the stats from games like last night.
  6. Great opportunity for the Demons tomorrow to win heavily against one of the bottom teams who traditionally don't do that well in Melb mid winter outdoors! If we could have a big win aside from pushing us one week closer to a finals spot, could also start to build some momentum for a decent crack at winning a final. Plus games into Jones, Hogan, Brayshaw & Vince after injuries & suspensions will be a plus. Putting pressure on Watts, Salem, Bugg & co to really fight for a spot in the team. Re Lynch, there a good, bad & delusional commentators, he's obviously had too much sun living up North! Go Dees, don't screw up & we have & know how, but go out & win by ten G's tomorrow!
  7. Pedersen has 100% earned his extra year, has been terrific to be in and around the 22 this year. Certainly seems to play much better with a few stints in the ruck.
  8. Watts is in our best 18 without any doubt when he commits & competes, as his skills and vision are top class. Whan he doesn't bring the commitment Goodwin will put him in the two's. Side benefit of when he plays is the way he combines with Garlett, watch how often he hand passes to Garlett and puts him into open space.
  9. Agree, give him another pre season or two and put some games into him next year, similar to Oscar this year and hopefully Weed good to go in 2019!
  10. Watts creates a lot of angst @ Demonland. He is one of our most skilled players, doesn't contest hard enough, but if he brought his efforts rounds 3-12 he would still be in the team. Can't see how Pedo or Weed get picked ahead of him, Jeff G will certainly miss Watts, as he regularly feeds the ball to Jeffy! Agree with a number of contributors who can't understand how we are favourites vs Saints looking at our recent form, Riewoldt & Montagna have both often hurt us in the past. The Dees have surprised in a few games this season, where odds have been against us, so here's hoping for a win!
  11. When Watts is bad he is really bad, looks like he is not trying! Usually when the Demons are good, Watts disposal skills standout. Close to our best shot at goal, when he gets the ball normally puts it to our advantage, unlike a few of our players.
  12. Hannan, Wagner & Brayshaw come in for some run & fresh legs. Pedersen, Hunt (rested) and one more of the younger guys running up and down in the one spot rested. Our competitive best will do it! This is the week to turn up and support the Dees.
  13. Pre season expected 12-13 wins. When Gawn, Hogan etc injured, & suspensions thoughtmaybe 10 wins. Performance rounds 4-17 getting us to 10-7 great effort when taking into account key injuries. North round 18 just ugly! GWS round 19 in pain, but at least they can play. Games 20-22 we already look stuffed, but maybe the 8 day break helps, beat the Saints & maybe find a little confidence & form, then roll Lions & Pies! At 13 wins with a spot in the 8 would be a terrific year! Anything less will be disappointing, but injuries & tough travel drawer have hurt. Compare it to Port's season - hardly an injury, or Bombers soft drawer! Finals & a win would be brilliant, but we have progressed this year. Only need another key back, key forward to step up and a polished midfielder and we will be very close in 2018!
  14. Outs: Melksham susp Pedersen & Hunt (rested, hasn't looked himself since knocked himself out against Crows), or Salem if injured In Hannan. Weideman & Wagner (speed)
  15. Glass half full view: Been a season of upsets, we need to hope we can upset the Saints next week! 3 wins at the G would be enough for a spot in the 8! Glass half empty: September holidays!
  16. No A grade talent, your overlooking: Oliver Max when fit Hogan when fit Hunt when fit We have a lot of players with significant upside! The injuries mixed with a punishing draw have finally caught up with our team.
  17. JFK, Stretch, Harmes, ANB, Gus are all young, just give them a bit of time. Last year I would of said ANB only a VFL player, but has played some really good games this year, now needs to build consistency. Jetta has become a rock for the Dees, but I remember his early years and thought he would never make it. The team looks good this week and GWS have a few big outs, Dees just have to win!
  18. There comes a time when you have to go what the f... , this year, this round vs GWS is the time! We didn't take the opportunity to use the easy option last week, using the breeze in Q4, so this week no excuses. We have to win and there is 10 players who really need a major lift on last week.
  19. Improving our disposal efficiency will have a major impact on helping improve our defence. How many times are we streaming forward through the centre, players lined up and we turn it over, and the ball heads like a bullet towards opponents goals. This is one of the key reasons Jack Watts is very important for the Demons. When he is in form, he uses the ball to our advantage and helps us hit the scoreboard. He would be even better if he was harder at the contest, but when he is playing well so do we!
  20. Agree with the outs. Jones, Vince & Weideman in. If Hunt is injured then Maynard gets his opportunity.
  21. MRP is as consistent as umpiring decisions!
  22. Totally agree, definitely missing a big bodied defender and a couple of players with top notch skills when kicking it into the forward line.
  23. U10's is about right! Last quarter under two minutes to go Hunt gets ball in the backline, runs past a couple of players, gets to edge of the square, crap kick into centre, turnover, game done! Compared to North having multiple shots from 70 metres out when they had the wind in the 3rd. Demons literally blew it, not making use of a massive breeze! Wouldn't be blaming Oscar & Frost, lot of other players zero impact.
  24. Hogan & Trenners out for Jones & Vince. Then it's gotta be Hannan or Harmes out, both have struggled the last few weeks and reward the best form at Casey from (Smith, Wagner, Maynard, Pedersen or Weideman-but he might be another pre season away). It's easy to get angry, okay really angry after a pitiful last quarter effort, but talking about dropping ANB after one bad day when he has been showing improvement and even JKH whom I'm not a fan, but has been reasonable the last couple is an overreaction. This year has been a rollercoaster with so many upsets, to be 10-8 with our injuries to key players is still a good season to date. If we make the eight and could win a final, it will have been a great season.
  25. Demons were bad, a lot of players down, and tackling was sloppy! D's just looked flat. Still had our chances. Surprising that TMac was not in backline for qtrs 1&3. Umpiring just typically disgraceful. This time 24-17 to North, last time 22-12! Jones, Vince & one of Weideman, Pedersen, Wagner or Smith in, outs Hogan, Trengrove, & Hannan or Harmes!
