how good does james worpel look not exactly the player we need but we will go for best player available. he looks just the type that jason taylor needs.

did you not watch the last 2 grannys? the teams that won were the teams that had 22 players applying manic pressure for all quarters all through the finals series. jack would almost single handedly discount us from having a team like this. it baffles me that people think a player can just go down to the shops and get a jar of competitiveness. if you don't have it, you don't have it. absolutely nothing to do coaches not being able to get the most out of him. he just doesnt have it.

mate you need to be held accountable for your dribble. all of those players have a crack for our club. sure they play poor games but they put their head over the footy and go when its their turn. thats what separates jack from the rest. he is not only weak physically and gets pushed off the ball too easily but he doesnt tackle with intent. his one handed tackling efforts are a disgrace and in 9 years i dont recall him going back with the flight of the ball once. im just glad other supporters agree and more importantly the melbourne fc.

couldn't agree more. 9 years of bruise free footy and he was lucky to survive many culls but it was only because of the high turnover of coaches that he survived each change over

I don't think Geelong would do that. Assuming pick 45 is nothing (which you simply have to), they're giving up pick 21 for Watts. They wouldn't do that.

How is it amateur though? Is it the method or the decision that you're angry about? i think most people here (for God knows why) are upset that we don't want Watts but Goodwin has been nothing but transparent with Watts and the media.

Agree it's slightly unders but we knew we'd be getting unders when we publicly kicked him out. It'd leave us with 28,30 and 35...I'm sure Taylor can't do some pretty good things with those 3.

AFL trade radio just announced that a journalist on the floor has said that Watts has nominated PORT. They have pick 30 and 33 so who knows. Maybe just pick 30 for Watts it seems

exactly. i'm so sick of all of the excuses for him being soft; 'oh not every player is a jack viney', 'lets look at his positives' etc. jack is a fringe player who was given so many opportunities to perform. he was supposed to be our fastest player on the list when aaron davey was still in the team but he doesnt use it. We picked him up because at the time we were in need of a key fwd and he performed well at the draft camp with the sprints and jumping tests and he also presents very well. what they cant measure is ones hardness and competitiveness to succeed.

I agree that they are a bit neater and also a previous post that he does play within his own limitations but to me it's the decision making. Like whenever T.Mcdonald is playing in the backline, he immediately looks inboard and often turns it over.

Frost Hunt and Lever in the same backline would be awesome rebound. Coupled with Hibberd and Jetta who are elite, our backline is almost a strength now. What does this mean for Col Garland?? He's still on the list right?

well considering I rate cyril higher than Lever. Lets not forget cyril helped hawks win 3 flags I'd go Cyril and every other player from 2007. so thats 10 combinations and then Dangerfield is also better so I'd take Dangerfield and any other player in 2006 so that's another 10 combinations. So that's a sub-total of 20, plus i'd probably prefer Docherty and Phil Davis so in total there are 21 combinations that i'd prefer over 1 jake lever.

true. but doesn't mean we have to play him. Dan Butler is another one but yeah you're right there wasn't really anyone else after him.

OMac is a spud. i'm sure I'd get better as the year wore on too! Not sure how he is on an afl list to be honest.

yeah good post.. great pick ups. although, Lewis was pretty crap this year. i don't care where he came in the best and fairest. He turned the ball over a lot and he was brought in to provide leadership so he comes in and gets reported and you could argue that it cost us a finals spot.

true. but i think taylor would've told mahoney to get me in the top 4 because he loved oliver so much

good post. i agree with some of it. missing out on josh kelly in favour of salem and tyson clearly was a loss. we cant deny that. we spent a lot on melksham and similar for frost but theyve been great for us and looking back on those picks, there wasnt anyone taken at their picks that were decent. i think its important to look at it as a whole. we have frost, melksham, vince, tyson and salem who provide us with depth that we didn't have. oliver was all jason Taylor, not Mahoney.

We definitely bent over but I would've been more disappointed if we didn't get Lever at all so I'm happy with it. Adelaide are now my most hated team though. The way they acted in this off-season plus their pathetic effort against the eagles which kicked us out of the finals.
