i called it a month ago but petracca needs to sort his [censored] out. you can't have a guy in the fwd line who can't kick. what is he 4.12 for the season or something not to mention his on the full shots.
  2. hey guys i went to the game so here is my take: We were challenged in the 3rd quarter but responded. People saying we should have won by 100 are a bit misled. If the suns had of been 1 goal or 2 goals closer at three quarter time it would've changed the whole context of the game. Best game ive seen lewis play. omac is improving each week. just needs to keep taking the easy option. the ability for other teams to find space is still a massive concern. guys like martin and hall broke the lines a few times and we looked a bit vulnerable out the back. At the end of the day we need to lock it down against teams like richmond and hawthorn. gawn was great after the game getting photos with fans. salem is really getting momentum. fritsch and hannan are dangerous forwards and i like spargo in the team as he is accurate. petracca: i was criticised a lot on this board for being critical of his kicking but he has been hopeless in front of the big sticks. jetta/hibberd/lever are all hitting form. tom mcdonald: so good up forward. shows you why a premium should be placed on goal kicking accuracy. its no wonder hawks stay competitive with bruest, gunston and rioli being the best kicks in the league. i wouldn't mind putting fritsch up the field and bringing garlett back. playing against his former team might be a good idea. harmes: where are all the harmes haters? you've got to play this guy every week as he is competitive. Pedersen to come in for weideman. and as a final dig: to all of those watts fans, he had another irrelevant game yesterday while fritsch (our compensation) has been fantastic. time for people to admit that they dont know footy. lastly, jason taylor needs to be given a contract extension. nailed early picks in oliver, petracca, brayshaw but also looks to have hit with later picks in spargo, fritsch and hannan. as a side note, now that spargo has showed his potential d.johnstone will be out the door at seasons end

sorry off topic here: where can i find goodwins post match presser? its not on the afl website or melbournes home page

oliver didn't have a hard tag (if any) against the bombers. He just didn't work hard enough. I'm sure he'll bounce back.

I'd take Hall in a flash. Sure, he is on the outer at the gold coast but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't become reinvigorated at a new club. Has outside speed, long penetrating kicking and offers spread. He can also go forward and kick goals.
  6. I feel like this is a wind up. Oscar McDonald becoming an AA defender. Please tell me this is a sick joke? Is this coming from all the Jack Watts fans that said he was going to be AA this year etc. LOL. you guys have lost your marbles.
  7. Guys that make stupid mistakes aren't AA defenders. Yes, you can get away with it in the midfield but you have to account for your field position when making decisions. He has terrible footy IQ. Thankfully he doesn't cross goals like he used to but like I said in a previous post he doesn't know when to rush it and when to play the boundary. He doesn't understand the momentum of games. He doesn't have awareness for whats around him. The only positive is that I've barely noticed OMac this year which is only a good thing considering the horrific things he can do.
  8. Okay, I don't mean to pump my own tyres up but this statement has proved to be correct so far and any poster who suggested that we were going to be haunted by losing Watts should be kicked off this forum for not knowing footy. 'Vineytime', 'Picketfence', 'Treox' and about 100 other posters should be ashamed. It's supporters like you that we have a weak culture, accepting guys that squib the contest. Unless you guys are ecstatic with Watts' 14 possessions and 1 goal a game average in a team sitting % out of the top 4 ?
  9. Well I'd love some explanation from Goodwin as to why he would allow Lever to do some kick-ins? Bloody outrageous. He has been pretty terrible this year. His kicking is poor and he has been chopped to pieces in most games by his forward. I'd like to see more rebound or see him play off a wing for a game just to see some run and carry. Goodwin wouldn't try it though as he is a very bland coach. It's very sad to see that at this stage our first draft pick is at 25.
  10. Oscar McDonald has definitely improved from last season. There's no doubt. However that doesn't mean that I trust him at all. He is still very weak in 1 on 1 contests and is prone to some brain fades and lack of awareness (much like his brother in his first 5 years at the club). Oscar has decent foot skills and I've been happy with his overhead marking so far but he needs to continue to keep it simple and not bite off more than he can chew. He doesn't show great footy IQ. He doesn't know when to rush the behind, when to play the boundary line etc. And you can't teach footy IQ. He also gives away silly free kicks such as pushing Daniher in the back when he has already run under the ball. This are all the things that cause me worry.
  11. to be honest, the only positive i can find is that OMac has been unnoticeable which can only be a good thing.
  12. Dr.D replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
i agree. drop him. but not before jordan lewis.
  13. what did you guys expect! we played terrible against Brisbane and north but we accept mediocre performances. Even some of these demonlanders who say 'a wins a win' is the attitude that leads to these losses.
  14. Dr.D replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
i totally agree. all of these supporters who said like 'a wins a win', 'we steadied and won', 'we broke the hoodoo' etc. are missing out on the fact that our poor form is going to expose us very soon against good opposition. the hawthorn game will be over at quarter time if we dish up the same nonsense we did against north.
  15. Dr.D replied to Moonshadow's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
why was lever taking the kickouts??? he is not a strong kick. bloody ludicrous. it shouldn't be anyone other than hibberd. lewis is prone to the old shank.
  16. watts will be dropped from Port about the half way mark. Definitely just a fringe player.
  17. lol Jack watts...has he got a hard ball yet in 2018?
  18. Pedo will definitely get the call up before Weideman
  19. I don't care too much about McDonalds injury as it's new and Pedo can come in and do just as well. But Viney, for f#$k sake, they've had 6 months to get it right. I wouldn't have cared if he sat on the couch for 4 months until it was 100% and then build up his cardio after that. Surely the priority is to get his foot right before re-loading. They say he is out for 6-8 weeks. I think most supporters would prefer it to be 15 weeks if it meant he was to be right.
  20. he wont last long in the midfield. he doesnt chase in the forward line let alone in the midfield
  21. Surely this thread is a wind up? There's more chance pick 31 will do more damage in year 1 than Watts doing much more than 12 possessions and a goal a game.
  22. Dr.D replied to Goffer's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
stuff it, you got to risk it to get the biscuit. As much as jurrah was a failed experiment the enjoyment that he brought to us over a small period of time was so good to watch.
  23. how good does james worpel look not exactly the player we need but we will go for best player available. he looks just the type that jason taylor needs.
  24. well considering I rate cyril higher than Lever. Lets not forget cyril helped hawks win 3 flags I'd go Cyril and every other player from 2007. so thats 10 combinations and then Dangerfield is also better so I'd take Dangerfield and any other player in 2006 so that's another 10 combinations. So that's a sub-total of 20, plus i'd probably prefer Docherty and Phil Davis so in total there are 21 combinations that i'd prefer over 1 jake lever.
  25. We definitely bent over but I would've been more disappointed if we didn't get Lever at all so I'm happy with it. Adelaide are now my most hated team though. The way they acted in this off-season plus their pathetic effort against the eagles which kicked us out of the finals.
