  1. I don't read too much into contract stuff. Watts wouldn't be on much money, probably even cheaper because over 3 years so there's no harm in offering Watts 3. By the time Weideman develops no need for Watts.
  2. So i had a look at pick 10's in the last 10 years of national drafts, this is who clubs got: Chris Egan Marcus Drum Nathan Brown Dangerfield Phil Davis Melksham Gorringe Sumner Cockatoo Nathan Freeman Makes me feel a bit more at ease knowing that only 2 of those players (Danger and Davis) justified their drat position. So if we have to cough up more, so be it. Lever is a ready made gun for the next 9 years
  3. You sound like one of those clingy boyfriends that can't accept that she ain't coming back. But it's okay, she wasn't good for you anyway. And yes, JW is the girl in my example. To suggest JW for Zac Jones is just embarrassing. Jones is probably going to be an AA back pocket one day and breaks the lines and plays a hard brand of footy that would stand up in finals. Let's just close the door on this botched number 1 pick and look forward to some guys that know how to tackle with intent and chase with intensity. I'm excited about it! The writing has been on the wall for a long time now. The nail in the coffin was when we picked up weideman. Clearly with Hogan and Weidemen (with a 1st rounder) it demonstrated a clear understanding that JW was never going to amount to more than a fringe player that can play the odd good game from time to time.
  4. Watts is behind *in no particular order. Jones, hogan, Petracca, Lewis, Viney, Brayshaw, Gawn, Oliver, Hibberd, Pedo, Melksham, TMac, Hunt, Neal-Bullen, Garlett and Jetta. That makes him the 17th best player on the list. Not so fast. Guys like Hannan, Dom Tyson, salem, Vince and Frost are probably on par with him so he is anywhere between 17 and 22 on the list. That's the reality.
  5. just heard on trade radio, he's opted for Geelong. Watts isn't worth pick 20, so maybe pick 20 and 33 and we'll give them back pick 27.
  6. at the same time stats dont tell the full story. jack watts would avoid going hard at the footy and hesitate only to lay a pretty weak tackle. that would still count as fwd pressure right?. its like saying tmac is a good kick and then reel of his disposal efficiency. I'd prefer to trust the 150 games and 400 hours of games that ive seen.
  7. 3 first rounders? you've got to be kidding. reality is, he has a lot of talent but he has a lot of holes in his game. defensive pressure is horrible, his game day attitude and staging for frees is a culture killer and his kicking for goal is very hit and miss. lever got 1 first rounder and he was in the AA squad. hogan isnt remotely close to being an AA forward unless he fixes these things.
  8. people still thinking he wont go? wow. an outside flanker who has career averages of 0.9 goals and 1.3 brownlow votes a season. even when he gets dropped to casey he never has stand out performances.
  9. im so glad goody is making the decisions and not 70% of the fans here. the amount of stick i've got over the years from mates who go for other teams over watts is finally coming to an end
  10. just because you're an outside player doesn't mean you dont have to go in hard when its your turn to go. and thats why you cant build a culture with a repeat offender.
  11. sorry i need to call this out. goodwin doesnt owe anything to watts. if anything watts should be apologising to goodwin, neeld, bailey, roos and all of the assistants for wasting their resources and not putting his head over the footy.
  12. i wouldnt mind if hogan goes. we'd get some compo and our best wins were without him this year because he sooks instead of applying defensive pressure
  13. im not great with technology but someone seriously has to put jacks head on leo
  14. When Watts gets dropped every year to Casey, it's not because of his lack pf professionalism or preparation, it's because of his form. And every time Goodwin or Roos said 'he knows what he needs to work on', we all know what those things are. Harden up! Goodwin isn't going to say this to the media but this is definitely the true reason behind it all.
  15. I'd rather be a club of our word. We offered it so we should stick with it. We don't want to stoop to Adelaide's level. All the clubs are watching it too
  16. fortunately, with jason Taylor at the helm we have a recruiter that prioritises competitiveness, combativeness and desire. He wouldnt have touched watts back in the 08 draft despite the hype.
  17. he loves the club but never put his body on the line for it. i wish all the best to Watts but like others here have mentioned, other clubs won't put up with his lulls in performance like we did. As lloyd said on footy classified, gifted the first 100 games when his form didnt warrant it.
  18. for some reason everyone was ok when we ditched howe who was in the AA squad but now a fringe player in watts leaves everyone is cracking it. probably the same people that called Bate the next pavlich, strauss the next suckling and tapscott the next riccuito
  19. 2 arguable best on grounds. i cant think jack getting close to best on honours, let alone two, in his 150 games.
  20. Ron Burgundy: "watts is hard at it". now ive heard it all! watts has had 9 seasons to play with passion and intensity but he isnt wired that way
  21. pedersen is 5 times the presence than watts up forward and i look forward to a fwd line of men up there now with jack out of the way. pedersen is going to smash it.
  22. i know i'm sounding like a broken record but jack is a fringe player. stats dont show the number of contests he squibs
  23. beggars cant be choosers. outside of garlett we literally have no decent small forwards. i wouldnt mind him for a very low pick
