Andy Moniz-Wakefield
As a point for comparison, look at Tom McCarthy at west coast. Had a great role at half back, was a genuine weapon. But for want of a midfielder they’ve turned him into a sub 20 touch player who has to find his feet in a tougher role. If your role is already filled (much like Petty last couple of years) then it makes sense to try your hand at another position to get games. But AMWs got a spot available at the top level. It’s not glamorous to play on the games best smalls but it is appreciated by club/fans. With McVee gone we need AMW to slot in. Our mids need time to gel unfortunately. It’s fine to inject a new element into a group and have them learn how to fit in but we have effectively transplanted an entire midfield core. There’s going to be lots of settling in to take place amongst them and other than Steele who has done enough time to know, the rest are going to have a rough year figuring things out.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Footscray VFL
That’s a very deep bulldogs line up. Our injuries will make this a hard match. Still so much to look forward to, but I think we will see vast improvements in 3-5 weeks once jeffo and luker are options again.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Footscray VFL
I would respectfully ask that only the actual teams are posted or at least specified otherwise. Far too often I’ve spotted teams posted on here with speculation which had injured players listed as playing and raised my hopes soon to have them dashed with the truth. Really looking forward to seeing Tommy Matthews, as well as checking out the speed on the very large Riley onley (provided both are named). Go (all) demons!

The Panglossian’s Puzzle for Pedants
So possibly washboard players?

The Zak Butters Thread
Still want Humphrey but would happily pick the eyes out of gold coasts twos. Rogers and Walter high on the list for mine. Butters is great on field but very pricey and will shape the rest of the list options.

Max Gawn.... A giant of a gentleman and bloody good bloke
I miss the days of Gawn in 60 seconds. Would love max to whip it back out sporadically when he has a good case for it.

2026 Injury List
Expect he will play in a glove. Need to get him special dog fight breaker upper gloves too.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
Happy for them to practice end of match scenarios, this ‘round’ were not even afl preseason matches. These are match simulations and I’m just happy they were made available for viewing. Glad we took in extra players and were easing in players. Other than mihocek seems we got through without any injuries.

Ex Players Still Playing
Steele missing from the gws list.

Bailey Humphrey
So Callaghan is coming too? Our midfield is SET

What round is the Casey archeological dig scheduled for again?

2026 Breakout Players
Also just a shout out to Chandler. Holds the current lead in most consecutive games at the club. A team that cuts teams open rather than bullock and bomb should see him get utilised better. Has really good speed and solid hands for a player his size. Does need some bags under his belt to silence critics though.

2026 Breakout Players
Windsor to claim a wing, although by most metrics wings aren’t a breakout position. Unless he can become a goal kicker from there and then he will have his praises sung highly. JVR has every opportunity to establish himself this year. In an attacking brand and as a lead up focal point, he should really be able to hit the scoreboard. Top 20 in the Coleman would be amazing. Plenty of others on the list with lots of growth capacity in them. Ones I’d love to see rise and surprise would be Kozzie (becoming a taggers nightmare) Latrelle (excitement in the pocket and scoreboard impact) Langford/lindsay/taylor being talked up regularly as good decision makers and executors. And also, Mathews and kentfield to create buzz about selection crunches.

Aidan Johnson
If he gets games he will have earnt them through hard work. Lots of competition for a key tall spot, especially given their is depth down back clawing for spots. Can’t see AJ gifted any games so if he’s named, he’s deserving. And if he’s just good back up, I daresay kids like Tommy Matthews will be singing his praises as a great teammate and presence at Casey. Go well, big fella.

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
Well that’s a real shame, the planned dinosaur excavation had me intrigued. (Edit: this one’s on me. Should have read it a little closer, but yet somehow so much of it was believable)

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
Seems a discrepancy, is it 3 or 7 byes?

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
But both were drafted, and have afl games on their CV. The rise from VFL is possible.

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
Culley another who more recently put himself under the nose of recruiters by choosing an aligned club. AJ and Henderson both came through by excelling at the level. If you are good enough to get on a list, it happens. (Being good enough to produce at afl level is another story entirely, but recruiters always have their eyes scouring for talent in all the pathways)

The Midfield - where do the Demons stand?
Hes elite. He’s the same draft as JVR and has over 100 Brownlow votes (highest votes per game in history). There’s no need to pretend he’s not one of the best in the game right now. But he’s a Collingwood player, so he’s hated filth.

New Coach, New Captain?
Gus would have been an amazing captain. Cest la vie. Max’s comments are what you would hope for, open to and welcoming of positive change. I’ll be keen to hear how open the club is about the selection process, and whether blokes like Steele in particular are rated within. Let’s just give the captaincy to Bailey Humphrey. Make our intentions for next years trade period very clear.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 8th December 2025
Seems very reasonable given it’s December. I’m still going to cross my fingers that his recovery goes as predicted by the club. (Hope your partner recovers well too)

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
Slightly off but I expect with the new game style there will be lots of overlap run feeding the ball off to the quality kickers. As long as Onley can take a grab and hit a player coming past at speed, he’ll do just fine in transition footy
