  1. Culley another who more recently put himself under the nose of recruiters by choosing an aligned club. AJ and Henderson both came through by excelling at the level. If you are good enough to get on a list, it happens. (Being good enough to produce at afl level is another story entirely, but recruiters always have their eyes scouring for talent in all the pathways)
  2. Hes elite. He’s the same draft as JVR and has over 100 Brownlow votes (highest votes per game in history). There’s no need to pretend he’s not one of the best in the game right now. But he’s a Collingwood player, so he’s hated filth.
  3. Gus would have been an amazing captain. Cest la vie. Max’s comments are what you would hope for, open to and welcoming of positive change. I’ll be keen to hear how open the club is about the selection process, and whether blokes like Steele in particular are rated within. Let’s just give the captaincy to Bailey Humphrey. Make our intentions for next years trade period very clear.
  4. Seems very reasonable given it’s December. I’m still going to cross my fingers that his recovery goes as predicted by the club. (Hope your partner recovers well too)
  5. Slightly off but I expect with the new game style there will be lots of overlap run feeding the ball off to the quality kickers. As long as Onley can take a grab and hit a player coming past at speed, he’ll do just fine in transition footy
  6. Think Howes was one of those ‘it’s not working well enough here, let’s try him down back’ Personally, not overly confident he can break the ceilings set by his teammates for a spot anywhere in the starting team. New voices coaching him, his attributes might be better utilised. Hope you have a great summer Blake!
  7. Picturing Angus and his lovely in Oxford makes me quite happy. But the reason I brought anything up was in relation to the contracts thread on here. Is there any confirmation that Gus’ payout is inside or outside the cap for the remaining years? I gather it will be hard to obtain exact numbers (as it will for clarry too). I’m just hoping it doesn’t restrict us when trying to retain our next batch of core players in the years to come.
  8. Sorry to open old wounds, I miss Gus on field and on the list. But I have a curiosity regarding paying brayshaws contract off.. given there’s cap relief by percentage in the next couple years for it, is it allowed to be shifted into larger amounts over those years? Say 2026 1m, ‘27 1m and then 400k in the final year where there’s no cap relief? Seems like an obvious cheat to the system but I would figure many long term contracts are amended over their course so why not here? (Apologies if this has been answered already)
  9. Looking forward to seeing a team coached to use its advantages. Hoping this results in a spread of goalkickers, but also when a player is identified as having a good mismatch we put the foot down and exploit it before the oppo has a chance to get a plan in place. On Matthews himself, Im really looking forward to his contribution at the top level but if it takes a full year to get him to his best, so be it.
  10. I still have and wear my puffy kaspersky laden dees jacket! Whilst wearing it I got head nods walking past Gawny outside gmhba and Jimmy in the crowd at Casey. Both were wearing identical jackets at the time. Treasured item.
  11. 15 and 18.. 33 far from 50 Both valuable but this is misrepresentation (Sorry, I prefer accurate stats) 2018 was 41 combined.
  12. Is Archie Ludowyke still on the board too?
  13. I wonder who will attempt to remodel themselves as a back pocket ala nev Jetta
  14. AFL blocked us doing a draft night trade with Adelaide a few years back. The rule is you can’t trade a pick back to a club you received it from (in the same year)
  15. Ginnivan, Watson or Rankine, Rachele. He’d be an interesting third to either.
  16. Apologies for the thread clog, but if someone could direct me as to how to put someone on ignore, I’d very much appreciate it.
  17. Sorry to be the bearer but Brisbane will only trade for greater points. Annable will cost them all their picks as it is (Unless they could ontrade the future first for more points with a third club..)
  18. But when will they include a champions league??
  19. The first free was after a shove in the back to Tahlia. Second was there but can go both ways. Third was ‘a forgivable mistake’ by the umpire. Wrong call but they called what they saw. Frustrating game against a thuggish team. Let that be their brand, wouldn’t want to win a flag playing the way they do.
  20. Bang bang bang from the commentary 🙄 three whistles kicked the goals (that said, their shots were what needed to be done)
  21. Placing May in the same sentence as Carlton Draught must have the media’s giblets all aquiver
  22. Sorry, but surely you could have submitted that in teamsheet format?
  23. An example of the bid system: WCE bid for Zeke uwland at pick 2 (value 2481) -10% discount (2233) GC use picks 15 (973) and 18 (836) and their pick 24 (424 remaining of the 621 value) slides down the draft order. So at this stage our picks 7 becomes 8, 8 becomes 9 and 37 becomes 35. WCE can use what now be pick 3 to bid again but any matching would now only require 2178 points. Also, it’s my understanding that the remaining points on gc pick 24 are where that pick slides to: 621-424=197, which falls to pick 43.
  24. I’ll take a stab from what I’ve seen and believe I understand. Once they hit the later stages of the draft and rookie draft the club does not have to match the bid but has the option to, provided they have list space. In this years case, we have the option to list 5 players to the primary list so can match bids late. However, we have a preference to rookie list White and Sinnema. So any club placing a bid on them that late is just ruffling feathers. After every bid, the draft order is shuffled up or down as required and the picks are assigned their new value.
