2026 Breakout Players
Also just a shout out to Chandler. Holds the current lead in most consecutive games at the club. A team that cuts teams open rather than bullock and bomb should see him get utilised better. Has really good speed and solid hands for a player his size. Does need some bags under his belt to silence critics though.

2026 Breakout Players
Windsor to claim a wing, although by most metrics wings arenโt a breakout position. Unless he can become a goal kicker from there and then he will have his praises sung highly. JVR has every opportunity to establish himself this year. In an attacking brand and as a lead up focal point, he should really be able to hit the scoreboard. Top 20 in the Coleman would be amazing. Plenty of others on the list with lots of growth capacity in them. Ones Iโd love to see rise and surprise would be Kozzie (becoming a taggers nightmare) Latrelle (excitement in the pocket and scoreboard impact) Langford/lindsay/taylor being talked up regularly as good decision makers and executors. And also, Mathews and kentfield to create buzz about selection crunches.

Aidan Johnson
If he gets games he will have earnt them through hard work. Lots of competition for a key tall spot, especially given their is depth down back clawing for spots. Canโt see AJ gifted any games so if heโs named, heโs deserving. And if heโs just good back up, I daresay kids like Tommy Matthews will be singing his praises as a great teammate and presence at Casey. Go well, big fella.

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
Well thatโs a real shame, the planned dinosaur excavation had me intrigued. (Edit: this oneโs on me. Should have read it a little closer, but yet somehow so much of it was believable)

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
Seems a discrepancy, is it 3 or 7 byes?

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
But both were drafted, and have afl games on their CV. The rise from VFL is possible.

Casey Demons - offseason 2025/6
Culley another who more recently put himself under the nose of recruiters by choosing an aligned club. AJ and Henderson both came through by excelling at the level. If you are good enough to get on a list, it happens. (Being good enough to produce at afl level is another story entirely, but recruiters always have their eyes scouring for talent in all the pathways)

The Midfield - where do the Demons stand?
Hes elite. Heโs the same draft as JVR and has over 100 Brownlow votes (highest votes per game in history). Thereโs no need to pretend heโs not one of the best in the game right now. But heโs a Collingwood player, so heโs hated filth.

New Coach, New Captain?
Gus would have been an amazing captain. Cest la vie. Maxโs comments are what you would hope for, open to and welcoming of positive change. Iโll be keen to hear how open the club is about the selection process, and whether blokes like Steele in particular are rated within. Letโs just give the captaincy to Bailey Humphrey. Make our intentions for next years trade period very clear.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 8th December 2025
Seems very reasonable given itโs December. Iโm still going to cross my fingers that his recovery goes as predicted by the club. (Hope your partner recovers well too)

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
Slightly off but I expect with the new game style there will be lots of overlap run feeding the ball off to the quality kickers. As long as Onley can take a grab and hit a player coming past at speed, heโll do just fine in transition footy

Blake Howes 2026
Think Howes was one of those โitโs not working well enough here, letโs try him down backโ Personally, not overly confident he can break the ceilings set by his teammates for a spot anywhere in the starting team. New voices coaching him, his attributes might be better utilised. Hope you have a great summer Blake!

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Picturing Angus and his lovely in Oxford makes me quite happy. But the reason I brought anything up was in relation to the contracts thread on here. Is there any confirmation that Gusโ payout is inside or outside the cap for the remaining years? I gather it will be hard to obtain exact numbers (as it will for clarry too). Iโm just hoping it doesnโt restrict us when trying to retain our next batch of core players in the years to come.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Sorry to open old wounds, I miss Gus on field and on the list. But I have a curiosity regarding paying brayshaws contract off.. given thereโs cap relief by percentage in the next couple years for it, is it allowed to be shifted into larger amounts over those years? Say 2026 1m, โ27 1m and then 400k in the final year where thereโs no cap relief? Seems like an obvious cheat to the system but I would figure many long term contracts are amended over their course so why not here? (Apologies if this has been answered already)

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
Looking forward to seeing a team coached to use its advantages. Hoping this results in a spread of goalkickers, but also when a player is identified as having a good mismatch we put the foot down and exploit it before the oppo has a chance to get a plan in place. On Matthews himself, Im really looking forward to his contribution at the top level but if it takes a full year to get him to his best, so be it.

Welcome to Demonland: MA Services Group
I still have and wear my puffy kaspersky laden dees jacket! Whilst wearing it I got head nods walking past Gawny outside gmhba and Jimmy in the crowd at Casey. Both were wearing identical jackets at the time. Treasured item.

Welcome to Demonland: Thomas Matthews
15 and 18.. 33 far from 50 Both valuable but this is misrepresentation (Sorry, I prefer accurate stats) 2018 was 41 combined.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
AFL blocked us doing a draft night trade with Adelaide a few years back. The rule is you canโt trade a pick back to a club you received it from (in the same year)

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Ginnivan, Watson or Rankine, Rachele. Heโd be an interesting third to either.
