  1. Where are their 30k members????? Another AFL beatup.
  2. Having just got out of hospital this week, so unable to go, I watched the game on TV. The commentators in the main were pretty good (no BT or Brayshaw) BUT if I had to hear from "Gill the Dill's brother" one more time about Dogga moving back to W.A. I was ready to throw something at the TV. Only to be replicated on SEN today by DerrrWayne. Give me strength. Oh and to just prove he knows footy he stated from the top of his show that there are 9 teams capable of beating Melbourne in the grand final. The amount of calls and text's calling him out on that had him backtracking furiously. Was driving around with a smile listening to him being called out.
  3. I also have the same as well as a Shane Woewodin from 2000.
  4. I made a slight edit but considering the media comments during the week I feel that they massaged the figures. I just cannot stand the AFL as I believe they are one of the most corrupt organisations around and along with Ch #7 will wreck the game that we love. Strong comment but that's how I feel. I know close friends and family feel the same way. Not all are Melbourne supporters but their feelings are the same. I am a 64 year continuous member of the MFC and along being a MCC member love this club with all my being but am finding the way the AFL treat our club just so hard to cope with. With poor fixturing at the "G" against interstate teams at crazy times to the favouring of the larger clubs just for "bums on seats to ensure bonus's at year end" is just so frustrating. I support our club with two memberships but GOD it's getting harder by the year how we are treated. Sorry for the rant. Go DEE'S - always.
  5. AFL announced North's attendance as 13,700+. Would lay money that they included 5,000 Medallion memberships when convenient wether anyone is there or not. Been doing it for years. Corrupt to the core they are.
  6. Have to stay home as well Rob. Open wounds on face after removal of 6 melanoma's. Pain killers and vodka/red bull assisting a pleasant evening. My skiing finished around then (2000) as well.
  7. Pity we have a censor as I really would like to say EXACTLY what I think of him but I always play by the rules.
  8. Haha. Nearly fell out of my chair with your age but I totally misread your comment.
  9. The best thing fitting into the 71-80 bracket is that I have seen and been to 7 premierships inc last year as the only "seen". I consider myself f-ing lucky compared to a lot of Dee"s supporters. Fit as I am (thanks to the good folk at the Alfred/Sandy) I hope to see quite a few more. Go Dee's.
  10. Same for me. The one and only time I was in that stand was the Nicky Windmar game and as St Kilda left the ground you could not see the race they were walking to from "Filth" supporters spitting on them. VERY embarrassed to say one of them was a friend. I chose to lose contact with them after that.
  11. For me many times and I am still scared. Being in the cheer squad then ensured we had targets on our backs.
  12. Not withstanding having just got out of hospital and certainly unable to attend but using ticketek to get "prime" seats in nose bleed territory level four is just not on. I always seat level one, M46 or level two but absolutely refuse level four. With my health lately (not Covid related) just better I stay at home. Will try for the Sydney game.
  13. What about the sale of our gambling venues (which they never had). I doubt they are better off financially than us.
  14. The one that really gets me is GWS claiming 30K+ members. Looking at todays attendance I would be surprised if 4-5K were GWS supporters. AFL must count the "freebies" they have given out. With a club like Melbourne, starting this game back in 1858 and only having 60K+ just makes a mockery of membership numbers.
  15. Second best PF or am I missing something.
  16. Hah. Wet Toast's highlight of the evening. Booing Petracca's goal. Suffer nuff's nuff's.
  17. I was going to suggest they drop/withdraw the whole team and replace them with their WAFL team but just checked and they were on the bottom of the WAFL ladder. The whole club is screwed. Going to be a long long long way back for them. Heads MUST roll over there.
  18. Just had a look on Big Footy and Wet Toast supporters are concerned that the rest of the AFL look at their team as tanking. The thought had crossed my mind as some of their selections are surprising.
  19. I went over for the 1994 match. Fortunately the Eagle supporters were OK then and didn't give us stick.
  20. Us of course but not really into footy.
  21. Not sure I can compare the team of the 50/60's to current as the game is so different. One thing from memory (as the game then was more one on one) but the Dee's stifled the opposition much like today We had good small men in Adams and Ridley and a tall forward line in Johnson, Marquis and later Lord. Of course there was Barassi - just being Barassi, Dixon was great on the wing and repelled many a ball. Bernie Massey was quite a favourite of mine, tough as nails as with Beckwith. In clearing the backline he seemed to always pick out the same people in the crowd to aim the ball at. No penalty in those days. The Melbourne crowd, quite large then as winning does that to a club, I believe were never really smug but always expected to win. The same sort of reaction then as to now with opposition supporters. How can we beat Melbourne ( especially Collingwood fans back then). As a young lad heading to Richmond station I had to cope with abuse and words I had never really heard before after the Woods beat us in 1958 GF having sat in the rain getting drenched. 59,60 & 64 made up for that. Some of the girls sitting with me back then would be upset if I didn't mention Roet, Townsend, Emselle and Hassa Mann. A lot of us from back then still catch up in the members.
  22. Been going since 1955 so have been very fortunate to see some brilliant times BUT have stuck fat since then and it's like a second lease of life. I shall enjoy every day our club dishes this type of football out to us. With astute draft selections of new players long may this continue.
  23. Be interesting to see the uptake of Melbourne supporters living in Perth from last year. Depending on the admittance fee I would not put it past the Freo supporters go along with their Dee's scarf's just to rub it into the "Chardy/Franchise" supporters. Maybe mid 30's crowd.
  24. Had to go down to the peninsular today and actually listened to SEN. In summing up callers, there are only two teams that will beat Melbourne for the grand final and that are the "brown paper baggers" and the "ferals from Punt Road". They are both convinced that we are rubbish and last year was a fluke. Just laughed hard for a couple of K's.
