  1. Pederson has to play every week in preference to Weideboy for the rest of the year. Pedo has given more in 3/4's then Weid has given all year.
  2. Sat in the Ponsford stand level 4 near scoreboard and crowd near us was around 50:50, but the roar from the Punt Rd end when Rich kicked those goals in the last was incredible. Agree about the hassle with Hurstbridge line, got home to Plenty about 12.30am after leaving pretty much straight after game. Wouldn't have minded if we won, but have to say the Rich supporters were very good through our marathon commute, no [censored]
  3. How's St.kilda's start to the year going. Not only getting pumped by Melbourne, they can't even spell the sponsor's name right on their jumper. Logo on front of jumper said 'Drae ice coffee', should have been 'Dare ice coffee'. If it was my company I'd being asking for some compensation.
  4. Intra club was nearly a month ago now and Pederson competed very strongly back then, so difficult to believe that's the reason he's not being selected, unless he 'tweaked' it or something else in a subsequent session.
  5. Disappointed that Pederson hasn't got a run in any of the JLT games when he was clearly streets ahead of Weiderman's in the intra club. If Weiderman's is picked round 1, which looks almost certain now, then can't help thinking we are selecting on the basis of player development in preference to selecting our best side to win the game.
  6. AFLPA would never agree to that concept. They want to increase their freedom to choose where and for whom they 'work' for, this is the trend in most major sports around the world and AFL will be no different.
  7. Haven't watched the replay yet, but I don't recall too many T Macs kicks missing targets yesterday. Sure his kicking technique looks ungainly, but I thought his accuracy was much improved compared to what we've seen in prior years. Think many have a set opinion on T Mac and aren't able to get past it or acknowledge he might actually have improved his kicking. Of much more concern, and as someone else mentioned, based on a sample of the intra club and yesterday, Harmes' kicking doesn't look to have improved much if at all over the preseason.
  8. Bought GA standing room tickets yesterday. If the game was anywhere else but Footrscray I wouldn't have bothered, but given they are reigning premiers and playing in the midst of their supporter base, I think they'll get to the 10,000 capacity.
  9. Wayne Schimmelbusch for me. 306 games of g&d, hard as a cat's head, rarely played a poor game and was relatively fair during the rough & tumble of the 70's and 80's.
  10. Liked that. Gawny took a few towering marks, much like he does in real games, but looked like he was holding a fair bit back. Showed up Spencer's (who moves like Himey) inability to take marks around the ground and easily outplayed him in the ruck duels, so much so Gawny was made to swap between the 'white' jumper and the 'blue' just about every time he came off for a rest to ensure both midfields had a decent crack.
  11. Enjoyed watching last night, always amazed at the extreme level of fitness AFL players have to reach. Amongst others things, two key takeouts for me: 1. While Weiderman's confidence and physicality has definitely improved, if we're picking a team purely to win and not to develop, Pederson has him covered at the moment. 2. Maybe a bit unfair, but after the intra game when everyone was obviously knackered, watching the Jack Watts & AVB wrestling/leading drill, Jack still doesn't fully extend his arms in 1:1 marking contests and use his height advantage, with AVB easily and repeatedly punching the ball away from Jack.
  12. Not sure where this myth about the age of St.Kilda's list comes from. At the end of the 2017 season they will only have 3 players aged over 30 on their list - Riewoldt, Gilbert and Montagna. Riewoldt has stated he has no plans to retire over next few years and his form last year supports this. Losing Montagna and Gilbert at the end of this season shouldn't cause them much pain. They currently have 2 first round picks in the 2017 draft, so if they aren't already close to where Melbourne's list development is at now, they will close the gap further after this year's draft.
  13. Probably been said before, but there's glimpses of R Flower with his dash, marking and courage.
