Yeah f#$&ing 87 Prelim. I was a stupid 22 year old hot head. Couldn’t believe we’d lost, got into a push and shove with some random Hawk supporter and then got blind. I’d like to think I’d handle it a bit better these days.

Riewoldt rates Hogan as better forward than TMac
The Chief replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If it’s a choice between TMac and Hogan for key forward position, have to go TMac as he’s a far better contested mark, more reliable kick and doesn’t crack the sooks when things don’t go his way. -
Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood

All looked fine. Watched them leave the ground, just looked tired -

Bit hard on JKH, had plenty of touches and disposal has been ok. Garlett showing bugger all so far.

On exposed form, the level of faith being placed in Weideman to be a successful key forward in 2019 is interesting.

Not sure of the source, but this sounds like just another thread in the AFL’s strategy to give the AFL a media presence in what was traditionally the off season. Don’t get sucked in to their malicious media spin.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
The Chief replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hey Ding, my apologies, I didn’t know about the steak knives that would be thrown in. -
Each to their own, but I hate the cringe worthy artificial nonsense other teams use after goals. Much prefer to hear genuine crowd support then that rubbish.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

The rumour came from someone employed at the Gold Coast, who wouldn’t know exactly what Melb would get in exchange for Hogan -

Don’t shoot the messenger, but rumour I heard was Hogan to Freo for pick 6, pick 6 to GC for May. -

My daughter attended this morning, enjoyed the session, particularly pleased with getting some attention from Gus at the end. She mentioned Harmes looked a bit sore walking off at the end, did any other track watchers pick anything up with him? -
It wasn’t just the poor goal kicking that kept Cats in the game, there were a number of easy marks dropped inside 50 (Petracca comes to mind) and poor decision making/poor kicks to leading players inside 50. Hopefully nerves played a part in this and they will be a bit more settled this week.

About to arrive at the Duke for a few calming pre-game Boags.

The Chief replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Had placed JKH in the ‘delist’ basket earlier this year, but think his last few games show he has a future at AFL level, though it still might not be at Melbourne. Thought he was a standout at training this morning. Showed a fair bit of speed, which was a bit surprising,, and very good disposal skills, when disposals from a lot of others was sloppy. During the tackling drill he nailed numerous physically bigger players and Viney looked slightly annoyed when JKH wrapped him up in a strong tackle that Viney tried but couldn’t break. Based on recent game and training form, he’d be pretty stiff to miss Friday’s game. -

Tried using the email link via PC for about 2 hours and got nothing, but then got tickets by using the link from the MFC app on my phone

Looks like it’s sold out. No tickets coming up under ‘best available’

Umpiring is fine, win the contested ball we win, umpires irrelevant

To this point, after the game yesterday on the 2nd deck of the Southern Stand there were 2 Melbourne supporters involved in a push and shove and throwing verbal abuse at each other. They would have been in their 50’s. Not sure how it started but you’d think they would both be asking themselves later how did they get into that situation? How could they make such fools of themselves? What if things had gotten out of hand? There’s a few ‘moments of madness’ that I’ve been involved in that I’m not proud of, but luckily no lasting impact on anyone else. Passion, emotion, excitement, bravado and a whole bunch of other human foibles can result in situations that we regret and wish we could take back.
