17th biggest game of the year in a row for us... who would have thought it? -
GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Port Adelaide

Do we get a 4 goal lead and maintain it? Or heart palpitations and anxiety after being 4 goals down at 1/4 time and 2 goals at half time? -
One of my favourites of all time
-
Thanks @RedFox - can this be pinned to the top of the thread??
-
We've dropped down to 14th in pressure points and lost 3 games by an average of a kick and half over 4 quarters (2 points a quarter by my reckonning) Plenty to work with here lads and ladettes! As humans, we look for patterns - we look for patterns as infants to see faces, as football supporters, we look for patterns to make predictions about our emotional safety... and sometimes just like David King, we force patterns to appear, when they are not there!

Great topic ? With brown coming in - can someone with a good understanding of the game (I’ve come to the right place right!) help me understand why a stay at home forward role is no longer employed or no longer possible in the modern game.

The beauty of Demonland is the people like @Skuit who delve into deep analysis, that not even the boffins at Champion Data(tm) would contemplate. This is why I love this place - perhaps this could have been in the Game Plan, Tactics, all that Jazz thread? ?
-
Genuine question coming up. You’re so negative about the club in all your posts, it wasn’t a surprise that you’re also negative about the types of posts that show up in the forum. which begs the question (s) Why on earth do you keep logging in to Demonland? are you a masochist? are you hyper vigilant about anything that upsets you AND compelled to always comment? do you interact with the general public in the same way?

Just a little nod to the great man. 20 years ago today... Was due diligence done on his back before he signed for us ?

Why isn't Kozzie going through the middle anymore?
Engorged Onion replied to Altona-demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
This wasn't a conversation about Pickett, it was a conversation about the mechanics of how selection committees work. We will agree to disagree - I just cannot see Mark Williams ever been compliant to anyone, when he has an opinion about something ? (and that infers that Mark Williams would be having conversations about dropping Pickett). -

Seriously man? I assume you're being deliberately provocative, or you think football selection committees are a) made up of one person or b) made up of many people, with the almighty dark overlord Goodwin vetoing all opinions aside from his own. -
Some of your finest Steve...

All these rhetorical questions into the ether - thanks for joining Demonland Bruce ?
-
I posted this just a little earlier in another thread... - so the expected accuracy doesn't actually wash - its closer to 50% (for pedants sake).
-
Or don't have faith and post on and on and on and on and on about it, because I guess that lowers the posters on expectations so they can't get disappointed the next time. Anyway, some posters make me think of 'bottom orifices' (that begin with a, but gets censored on here) and more specifically sphincters.... Anyway...that was a rather long segue to get to my point... Sir Alex Ferguson would often talk about 'squeeky bum time' towards the end of the premiership season... Generally this team is very good in 'squeeky bum time' in games- the supporters (understandably, after generations of pain) are more prone to losing their mind in 'squeeky bum time'.

How is the dissonance in commentary vs protecting players. Re: 'Sausage' Mumford. - "He's a human wrecking ball, he's there to hurt people." Beggars belief.
-
Great album though!

I do hope the folk that post on this site whom critique Melbourne poorly, due to the fact that they are top of the ladder, playing against a team who are lower than them, who are watching this game, get a reality check on how close teams are in the competition that is the AFL
-
All good - the closeness was an alternate sport link... which when JJC mentioned it- I thought 'Well done mate!'
-
Is it topical? to do with the Euros?. A nod to Anglo heritage? There’s no Neitz, no Schwarz, no Yze or Ingersons, No Kropenyiri’s or Jurrahs or Wonnamerri’s im stumped...

If I walked in to your house - these would all be band members of some of your favourite bands in your cd collection? Erm.... really briefly Steven (Brian) May - Queen Brad (Steve) Miller - Steve Miller Band Ben (Dexter) Holland - The Offspring Brad (Pete) Green - Fleetwood Mac Russell (Robbie) Robertson - The Band Cameron (Jack) Bruce - Cream Erm.... cant get any others... Oh... your post just came through... shame about the lack of music references...

Cat amongst pigeons with this one @willmoy Source?

Interesting observation re: Oliver in The Mongrel Punt IS CLAYTON OLIVER SLIGHTLY HURT? It’s not like him to go two games in a row with one or less tackles, but that’s where we’re at, here. He did cop a nice solid body hit from Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti at one stage, and Walla is solid unit. That’d slow anyone. That said, tackling is an effort stat, and it is one of the first things to fall away when someone is a bit banged up. Would be worth keeping an eye on.

Scar tissue - long suffering MFC supporter issues

Totally agree with this. Was merely riffing on the ‘Only could happen to us this year’ vibe. -

when finally the Bulldog make up that one game, in Round 17 and they then have a superior %....
