  1. Looking at the lineup on paper this is a far stronger team than any we have taken over there in at least a decade. I'm expecting a beating but the supporter in me not subject to MFCSS thinks we could actually do this. After all we won over there with Chris Dawes and Dean Terlich in the side
  2. The coach option with the in-game objectives can liven it up a bit, think the trading aspect is overly limited for that aspect of the game though.
  3. This the first time in my memory that the Eagles lost the free kick count at Subiaco oval. Congratulations are due to them for coping with such adversity
  4. Wonder whether that was a spelling error or auto-correct
  5. We're not in the days anymore where James Sellar could make it into the leadership group. Our leadership group is hardened, includes premiership winners and fighters but still can't galvanise when the chips are down like Sunday. We've already proven that we can be hard this year but the team picks and chooses when it goes
  6. I don't agree with singling out a player with less than 30 games to his tally, least of all one who spent most of the last two years injured. That said, whoever wrote this is right about the soft attitude at the club. Roos always painted the club as a separate entity to himself when he was under the pump a bit in 2015 - that was vaguely plausible given it wasn't his list, he was essentially a consultant brought in to turn a failing club around stat, Goodwin doesn't have that excuse, he's built this list and jettisoned those deemed surplus to requirements or just not good enough. He's moulded this team for two years still the same mental weakness manifests itself week after week, and it's not something he can foist off on the playing group. Challenge them to perform but take ownership himself Imho the footy department should read this, and then take a collective leaf from the book of St Kilda. We have a better list, and proved this in Rd 1, but they have heart and back themselves to win whether it be against a bottom 4 team one week or the premiership favourites the next. The club has accepted mediocrity too long, if this team are going to be the real deal (with the potential to win multiple flags like Geelong 2007-2011 as some coaches have stated in interviews) then the excuses need to stop
  7. Thing is, the current list seems to perform better when there's no expectation on them- no one expected us to beat the Cats but we should have, ditto the Tigers. Our situation now is frustrating because we lose games we're in commanding positions in, but I'm expecting a response this week against the Crows. Feel Goodwin will make a statement after the capitulation on Sunday, so wouldn't be surprised to see him roll the dice and drop the likes of JKH and Tyson: I'd like to see Tyson sent back to the VFL for a spell, and Brayshaw put in the middle, he played his best footy in the guts as a first year player and it could be what he needs to get back into form.
  8. A lamb to the slaughter, he'd be going up against Jacobs this week and the Goldstein/Preuss combo next. Being destroyed in his first couple of games would be detrimental to future development.
  9. Now the dust has settled on the bitter disappointment of yesterday, the time is ripe for a cold look at our chances of making the finals. Presently 7 teams sit on 3-4 wins, ourselves being the best of the teams on 3, with a higher percentage than the Saints (8th) and the Dockers (9th). Those teams are shaping as our strongest direct competition, the Saints are in blistering form with what should be four points against the Blues at home, while the Dockers take on Richmond at the 'G. Port and Gold Coast, two other rivals, are also playing each other in Shanghai, with a real possibility that the jet lag and pollution could affect them in the next round. The Bombers and Collingwood could still conceivably make the finals but the Pies are down on confidence and the Bombers are horrendous. Of our direct rivals, the Saints have an easier month ahead, with the Dockers playing Richmond and the Crows in the next three- the Saints however will have a tough run of it after that with successive games against the Dogs and the Crows, which if results go our way could see us make up points by beating North and the Suns in Alice. I don't think we'll have our colours lowered by too much vs eh Crows either, we have matched up reasonably well on them. In another 4-5 weeks we should have Spencer back in the ruck, and with the bye and a couple of wins to us and losses to direct opposition, we are still a strong chance to make the 8 in what is an unpredictable and even season.
  10. Very nervous for this one. Has the feelings of a line in the sand game tbh, the young up and comers against the aging champions. We need to find a way to win, our two worst games of the year we're vs Carlton and the Shockers, both games we were favourites to win
  11. Buckley has to be gone, he's taken a premiership quality list and brought it to a position where Lynden Dunn and Jeremy Howe are getting games. Eddie too, he's burnt his fuel tickets backing Bucks
  12. Hope Pies get murdered, they've made a big deal out of their 125th anniversary it's pleasing to watch their bubble get burst
  13. Yeah, with Chris Mayne earning half a mil to play VFL. Whoever's in charge of their list management acts like he's using the MFC 2006-2013 list management hand book. Long may that continue
  14. Expecting (hoping?) that Port will win big. The media over here is unbearable whenever they win, and I look forward to seeing their season shot down once more after the derby win. Hope the Dockers get up too against the drug cheats
  15. Maybe I'm just colourblind but Watts seems to be more ginge than Clarry
  16. 2014, when UberAlex Georgiou had fisticuffs with Buddy
  17. Unproven? So are most of our young players, we haven't played finals any time recently and we still have trouble closing out winnable games and this Dockers outfit beat us on our home ground within the past month. I think our ceiling is higher, but the guys I mentioned go alright and have played some decent footy this year. I honestly don't see much of a difference between them and Saints
  18. Fyfe won't leave the Dockers, they have a decent midfield when firing and McCarthy will be a good forward with some more support (I don't rate Kersten, he's a one man potato farm). Griffin Logue Connor Blakey, Balic and Brady Grey are decent young players already showing good signs in the wins they've had this year. Obviously they're in a rebuild and it's questionable whether that group can win a flag but I don't think the Dockers are miles behind the Saints at the moment, and tbh I don't see the current Saints list having the ceiling to win a flag either. Throw in his history with injuries and I reckon he'll stay at Freo.
  19. Anyone else think he's a smokey for the Brownlow? He's got to be a contender going by those stats
  20. No wonder Goodwin wanted out...
