  1. Absolute no to Seaby. In this day and age, giraffes like him are useless. Reilly is a good player. If he was available in the PSD I'd be happy to take him. I thought McKinley signed a contract last year? If he was available, again, only PSD. We must not trade picks this year (unless those picks are pick 70+).
  2. Of that lot, I'm happy we've got Grimes. He will end up equal or better than everyone else on that list. But Otten or Pears will come second.
  3. The problem with paying him out, Brockstar, is that we are effectively flushing money down the toilet, and we just can't afford to do that. Carroll was an exceptional circumstance. He was detrimental to the club and the players around him. Newton is just a dud player, not a dud influence. Unfortunately for us, we made the mistake this time last year of believing he could improve. It has turned out that he can't, and most likely won't, but our misjudgement means he gets another year to try.
  4. Have to disagree with you here IMT. PJ's disposal is just crap. He's had so long now to prove himself at this level. His time should be up already, and we should be playing Spencer, who has a much, much higher chance of making it at AFL level. We are wasting our time with PJ, whether we want to win or we don't.
  5. Agree. It was the same with Yze and Holland last year. I think 45's new fave is now Grimes though. According to Hutchy, Robbo was going to announce his retirement, but when he was told by the club he was not going to get a new contract, he decided to keep his mouth shut. Which means he isn't retiring, he's being delisted, I guess. Hutchy made it sound like he's decided to turn on the club and look for a new contract for the sole reason that he wanted to go out on his terms. But I doubt that.
  6. Parma, tackling isn't the be all and end all of forwards. It's nice, but Newton doesn't do anything else properly to warrant selection. He can't kick (neither for goal nor at a team-mate), he still lacks confidence after an extended stint at AFL level, he doesn't present to the right places, he doesn't run hard enough, the list just goes on. He hasn't developed like he should have, he has remained an OK VFL forward who hasn't taken the next step. And we're stuck with him for another year.
  7. Disappointing that PJ gets a game over Spencer. Jamar mustn't be fit enough atm. Nice for Robbo to get a send-off.
  8. I never really rated Wheatley as a player, but nonetheless it's a bit sad to think that Wheels, Wheats and Robbo are all going to be gone. I really do hope that Whelan gets his 150 games.
  9. Even though I want to see Spencer keep his spot, Jamar did play exceptionally well against Freo last year. He used the tactic of jumping at Sandilands' body to great effect.
  10. I don't expect Wheatley to be on our list next year, which frees up 31, of all numbers. Will that be taken?
  11. Newton's out!! Yay!! I'm hoping for the bench to read McNamara, Valenti, McLean, Spencer. Sorry to Jamar and McKenzie, but I thought Valenti played well last week, and I want Spencer to get as much game time as possible. I'd actually prefer Jamar to play instead of PJ, but doesn't look like that's going to happen.
  12. Really? I missed that too then. A bit surprising, that. I don't understand exactly why the lower numbers are so special.
  13. I understand where you're coming from. However, the term Carltank is a pretty unambiguous reference to Round 22, 2007. We on Demonland used it to bag them for trying to lose that match to get the PP. I stand by my comment that no pro-tanking/list-management Melbourne supporter should use that term. It stinks of hypocrisy. That's really what I wanted to get at. All that aside, if we don't beat Fremantle this week there wouldn't be much greater satisfaction than beating Carlton and stuffing up their finals campain. It's bad enough to think that they're actually going to play finals.
  14. So it's okay to bag Carlton for 'rorting the system', when we all advocate trying to lose games instead of trying to win? It doesn't matter what Carlton did. The fact is, we are rorting the current system by choosing not to win games when we could be. If we are going to call for the club to lose games to get a PP, we must stop insulting other clubs who did the same.
  15. I would have thought that, by now, you two might have the sense to stop using that term, given the team you support. Carlton did nothing that we haven't done.
  16. Well you've obviously got different priorites to me. There's no way known I would give up pick 18 for a 27 year old, despite his prowess. This is the last uncompromised draft for potentially 4 or 5 years. Unless a (much younger) absolute star comes onto the market (which won't happen), pick 18 goes nowhere.
  17. 1. Watts 2. Jurrah 3. Grimes 4. Garland 5. Blease 6. Davey 7. Frawley 8. Wonaeamirri 9. Petterd 10. Morton
  18. No decisions on delistings: Bailey Mentions that the club is having weekly meetings where they discuss the drafting situation. We haven't decided yet how many picks we're going to take. He refused to discuss Robbo's future.
  19. I'm with Scully the Tank Engine on this one. Fremantle has a lot of kids, sure, but they still have some A-graders that are head and shoulders above basically our entire list. I'm talking Sandilands and Pavlich. Plus add to that a fit Headland and this match isn't going to be the easy 4th win we've all been hoping for.
  20. Carlton, thus derailing their top 4 hopes, and consigning them to an away final vs Brisbane or Adelaide. Sweet.
  21. Fair enough. Robbo's still on the sidelines, maybe he'll come back.
  22. True. I'd still like us to have a good crack against St Kilda and maybe Carlton, but the priority remains finishing on 4 or less.
  23. I've now read an article from The Age, which says that Bruce is out for the year. Also says that Rivers, Watts, McKenzie, Jurrah and Jamar are all available. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews/in...9756255044.html So to edit my previous prediction: In: Jurrah, Watts, Rivers, Jamar, McKenzie Out: Newton, PJ, Miller, Bail, Bruce
  24. So you think, if we tried our very, very best, we can beat Carlton? I just don't think that's possible. Which means we don't run the risk of finishing with too many wins. Which means we can give the last three games our best shot.
  25. I agree. But at the same time, if we win less than 6 games next year, we must look at our coaching situation. By that I mean Bailey should go. That doesn't mean Lyon will be our next coach. It just means we will be changing coach. Agree with this. Bailey's credit will (hopefully) come next year when we see Melbourne start to move up the ladder. Until then he doesn't deserve much.
