  1. From the reports I've read he requested a trade, which didn't happen, so he asked to be delisted to move back to Victoria.
  2. I did. Don't know what to make of that. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Recent articles about Hodge seem to paint the picture that he is loving his time with Victoria and that he wants to continue to do his best for the state in the hope that he gets the call up to Australia again. How he didn't get selected in either the Australian or the All Star team for tomorrow night's match is beyond me. NSW is a joke. Full of international players, yet from 2 matches they have 0 points. Only team to have 0 points so far. You'd think with Jaques, Hughes, Katich, Clarke and Haddin batting, and Clark, Bollinger, Lee and Hauritz bowling for you, that you'd do a bit better than that. NSW in cricket is akin to Collingwood in AFL.
  3. I don't buy that for a second. Stress fractures in the foot scare me. I still think he'd be a good addition to the team, but probably not with stress fractures.
  4. Rivers and MacDonald do not play the same role. One is a rebounding defender, the other is a floating third tall. Both can (and probably will, in Round 1) fit into the same defence. I said that MacDonald will take Bruce's spot in defence. Frees Bruce up to move up the ground. MacDonald is probably better at rebounding than Bruce anyway. Haven't yet worked out who gets dropped from my original consideration of the 22 to make way for Joel.
  5. Woohoo! Well done Victoria. I got a bit worried with the rain delays, but class prevailed. Rogers and Hussey made up for their first innings failures. Great stuff.
  6. Well that sucks. For player and for club. I hope this doesn't increase the likelihood we'll take Tenace.
  7. Fair point. However, Jayawardene has scored a Test century against every other country, and in every country except South Africa. 27 centuries in total. Not all Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan batsmen average 55, nor do they all hold records like Jayawardene. He stands above most other sub-continental batsmen.
  8. Mahela Jayawardene is perenially under-rated by those outside of Sri Lanka. A star. 9000 runs at 55. Not Bradman, of course, but close to the best batsman in the world at the moment.
  9. Damn straight JJC! But I can't get there today to watch them... Rogers, Hussey and Quiney hopefully are good enough to ensure they don't put in 2 consecutive failures. I worry a bit with Hussey at 3. He's not in terribly good form. With our top 6, though, 190 odd runs on the 4th day should be gettable. Horrible cricket pitch. But I've followed the game: the first 4 wickets fell in the first session due to good bowling (and swing-favourable conditions). Most of the 7 Sri Lanka wickets fell not to rash shots but to good balls (just weren't enough of them from the Indian bowlers). Let's not forget that Sri Lanka can win this match, needing 8 wickets on the final day, with Muralitharan in their team. It's not going to happen, but at least one team has a chance.
  10. I'm not sure how people can say he didn't get much of an opportunity at Geelong. He played 54 games. Over the last few years, each time he got back into the side he failed. Couple that with the fact that he is renowned for his poor disposal, and he we shouldn't even be considering it.
  11. You don't have to earn anything. Bennell and Jetta have started their careers with their current numbers. As far as I'm concerned, they should stay in them. All players should stay in the number they debuted in. If the number's too high, or not 'good enough', they shouldn't have been given it in the first place.
  12. This is complete rubbish bub. Some of your worst work. Rivers is not limited to spoiling. He consistently peels off his opponent to help Frawley and Warnock with theirs. He zones well in the 50, he isn't afraid to push up the ground (despite his kicking) and he reads the play brilliantly so that he makes more contests than not. He's not too slow for CHB, but he doesn't have to play there, as we have Frawley and Warnock. Rivers is ideally suited to a third tall. MacDonald is OK, but gives away too much height to be playing tall. You don't like Rivers. Fine. But basically nothing you've said in this post is accurate.
  13. Victoria on the comeback: WA 7/155. Voges and Ronchi out in the last 4 overs. Their lead is 186. We're still a good chance to pull it off.
  14. I'm with you on that. Rivers' biggest problem is his kicking, which MacDonald supposedly is better at, but they play different roles. Rivers still has a spot in defence if MacDonald comes into the team. I'm hoping this pre-season really helps Rivers out. Which would be a factor coming under consideration by the FD. It would also tell Bell where he's at.
  15. True but nit-picky. Yes, in essence any player who is picked up later than what the 'experts' predict (read guess) has been over- or mis-rated. But the point of this thread was pretty clear, and all you've done is modify the description. FWIW, I'm hoping Rohan is the slider/over-rated player.
  16. Thorp at 50 mightn't be such a bad thing, and I reckon he'll probably last till then. Not sure if he'll be worth 34.
  17. That's what I was thinking. If your draft actually occured, and there's no reason why it wouldn't, we'd be able to get Rohan at 11, which would be nice.
  18. We conceded points for the first time in 21 months. That's a long time. Our bowling stock is seriously reduced, which might explain part of it. Nannes, Siddle, Harwood, Wright are all missing. But we failed with the bat. And the top 6 is still pretty strong.
  19. Next year is crunch time for this club. 7 wins is an absolute minimum. We should be aiming for 9-10.
  20. Similar question: Whose spot in the 18 would you give to MacDonald? Whoever we take in the PSD, they're going to take the spot of someone. I just hope it's not McPhee.
  21. hangon007, no Rohan in the top 10?
  22. I'm the same. I've seen enough of Tenace to know he's not good enough at AFL level.
  23. Not happy with today's play at the MCG. Got them out for 277, but now we're 7/205. Middle order collapse. Missing Hodge I guess.
  24. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...61/default.aspx PSD only now for him. Probably has wind of an offer or two. Might be us.
  25. Yes he is. You (and I) might not like what he has to say, but this is a forum. It is designed for public discussion. Absolutely anyone should be able to post on here. Those who contravene the rules should get banned. TOX might be a juvenile, puerile, antagonistic Collingwood supporter, but so long as he abides by the rules there's no reason at all why he shouldn't be allowed to post here. If you don't like his posts, ignore him.
