  1. I agree with this. I feel for Grimes, he clearly loves the club and gives 100% each time he steps out there, but he was a victim of being given the captaincy too early in his career and a few bad injuries hindered his development as well. He certainly has his shortcomings, and I won't miss the hospital handballs or missed targets over 20-25 metres by foot, but I'm hoping he can work his backside off and come back into the side at some stage throughout the year.
  2. Roosy thinks he is worth the call up.
  3. Why bother doing that though? It's Round 1, pick a team and stick with it.
  4. It's a good point Bonkers. I think Roos and the FD trialled having the extra talls in the side and quickly realised that it didn't work as well, and therefore we have gone a little smaller. Our forward line does have some potency to it however, and I love the idea of having Garlett, Kent and JKH roaming around down there at the feet of Hogan, Frost and Watts.
  5. Deledio reported within the first 3 seconds, and then Daisy pops a shoulder 30 seconds later. Deledio will probably get 3-4 weeks for the hit, didn't look flash.
  6. So you are happy with the Matt Jones omission, even though you screamed from the rooftops he was a cert for Round 1?
  7. We can safely say however that it's not the first time you've jizzed yourself HH. You'd be a pro at that.
  8. Absolutely love this side. Best side we've had, on paper at least, for years. Bring it on!
  9. I believe you can elevate a rookie to replace an LTI at any stage during the year. The nominated rookie cut off has passed, but Vanders can still be upgraded.
  10. Hearing Frost doing more work with the ruck coaches suggests he will play the back up ruckman role to Jamar and Gawn won't get a gig. I like Gawny but he hasn't done enough to get a gig over the pre-season. Interesting to see that, at the moment, Vanders hasn't been elevated. Would have thought he was almost a cert to get a gig.
  11. Terrific. I think we all would. That wasn't the point of my post at all. I said he was a superb player, I just dislike how he goes about it.
  12. The thing that annoys me about Selwood is how much Geelong supporters fawn over him and turn a complete blind eye to the way he goes about getting free kicks, how he likes to snipe other players and complain all night to the umps with a constant frown on his face. Superb player, rubbish bloke.
  13. They love gifting him a cheap free kick inside 50. LOVE it. They wait on any sort of dodgy looking contact and blow that whistle as quickly as possible.
  14. I wouldn't read too much into the side they put up on the Footy Show. It's just an extended squad, anyone can still be picked for the side no matter who they put up.
  15. He would be a terrific get for the club, and he is someone who is worth chasing due to his families ties to the club. But it's still a long shot.
  16. Let's hope so mate. The last thing we need is months of wrist slashing over what could be nothing.
  17. Terrific. So we now get to spend time going over a rumour of Petracca potentially putting off contract talks. We are working with nothing here.
  18. In your opinion Michie was best on ground, but the club named Brayshaw BOG and JKH was after that. I know who I'd trust. The point is that the kid has been excellent and done everything asked of him, and if Roos thinks he is up to it then he'll pick him.
  19. Gold CB. Actually made me laugh out loud! What I think is terrific is that, apart from a couple of long term injuries, we have a very fit and healthy list (and I am touching wood as I type this). The players have clearly been managed well and we will have a strong group of players to pick from later in the week.
  20. And how quickly we, as supporters, are happy to forget our previous transgressions (tanking for one) and how angry it made us when other supporters would give us heaps for it. There is nothing good about this situation no matter what team is involved.
  21. I would be. I still believe he has something positive to offer our side going forward.
  22. They may be waiting to see if Ablett plays - McKenzie may be played simply to run with him all day. He has a decent record when playing on GAJ.
  23. It's funny though - you will always have people unhappy with a list like this, but Robbo's screams of trying too hard to be controversial so he can generate discussion. It's almost a crime not to have Ablett as the #1 player in the competition, and that's only the beginning with this list.
  24. Full list can be found here: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/robbos-top-50 Nathan Jones the only Demon on it and he comes in at #42. He also named Buddy as the number 1 player in the comp, with GAJ #2, Selwood #3 and so on. The ghost of Chris Judd also made the list which I thought was interesting, among other things. I don't put much credence in what Robbo has to say but thought it was a good talking point.
  25. Forgot Lynch - but if Ablett plays that's only two players. Not exactly a 'bevvy', as ProDee put it.
