He's Satan. He can do what he wants.
-
Mick said he didn't kick a goal at all during 3 NAB Cup games, so that may have been a reason. Still a little baffling considering they went hard to keep him when his stock rose towards the end of last season.
-
Why wouldn't he Stuie?
-
The difference between last years side to now is light and day. Look at some of the names not playing: Terlich, Bail, McKenzie, M. Jones, Georgiou, Evans, Grimes, Spencer... that's 8 guys who have questionable disposal and decision making skills. The side, on paper at least, looks so much better than previous years.
-
He was Mick's boy and jumped at the chance to follow him to Carlton. It would be hard to find a Blues fan who could argue that Daisy has made anything close to a positive contribution so far. Stiff with the shoulder injury last night. If it's bad most of his season is gone.
-
And I remember at the time how many of us, myself included, thought that Mick giving him his blessing was fantastic. How wrong we were...
-
So how come you aren't arguing the case for M. Jones, Bail, Michie or McKenzie? Why only Grimes? Clearly Brayshaw, on form, is ahead of those guys and is selected based on that. We could also argue that Grimes and Brayshaw have different roles within the side, as I can't see Brayshaw playing on a HBF. So my initial mention of him getting a run ahead of Grimes was not the right comparison. But we're missing the point here mate. We should be happy to see the kid get a run, as his form suggests that his selection is warranted, and we should be hoping that he has a positive impact on the game, which I think he will do.

Absolutely laughable comment from you Saty.

If you go and check out the Grimes thread I was quiet supportive of him and felt that the captaincy and injuries have served to derail what was once a promising career for the club. I've always liked Grimes and felt that, in some cases, his poor form has been as much to do with the pressure placed on him as well as his own deficiencies. That, however, does not change the fact that his output over the last few years has not been flash, and I would hardly call it 'belittlement' to bring it up. It's the truth. I was asked to comment on Brayshaw's influence on a game compared to Grimes, and I think Brayshaw certainly can't offer anything below what Grimes would have.
-
At this stage, yes, I think he will. How often do we bemoan Grimes' disposal and decision making during games? Brayshaw certainly can't do any worse than what Grimes has brought to the table over the last few seasons.

No, I didn't. I explained my reasoning in the previous post. Things were different in the Neeld era, where depth was deplorable, as opposed to now. I like the selection of Brayshaw, which he has earned by the way, and think he will bring something positive to the side going forward. We have the depth now where players aren't just gifted games, so clearly the FD believe Brayshaw is ready to play a role ahead of others who could have been selected.
-
The only reason you are so upset with his selection is that you have been totally and utterly proven wrong. You waffled on about how he wasn't ready, wouldn't be selected, that his games (which you didn't see) were overrated at Casey... And then Roos selected him to play over others. Must have hurt.
-
The FD seem to think so, so I'll go with their belief over yours.
-
No, it's not. In previous years I might have agreed with you, but we have a full list to choose from and he has been selected with guys like M. Jones, Bail, McKenzie, Michie, Grimes etc playing in the VFL. They would have been selected previously, but clearly Brayshaw has impressed and shown that he is ready to play AFL footy. There was no need to select him otherwise. But you stick with that negativity mate, it suits you.
-
You are just brilliant C&B. You've been totally and utterly proven wrong by his selection, yet you won't back down. You haven't been hanging out with Saty have you mate? And I'm sure I don't need to point out that not only do other coaches watch the game but he will also watch vision of those games during the week as well. But nice try. Brayshaw is ready, and you're wrong.

Liam Jones was a panic recruitment by the Blues. They knew they needed a tall forward and he was the best they could get their hands on. But what else do they have to work with outside of Henderson? Sam Rowe? Levi Casboult? Totally mediocre players, and Kreuzer only plays 5 games a year. They are in trouble.
-
Josh Kennedy would be terrific in their forward line right now. Carlton would never want to turn back time on the Chris Judd trade but their forward line has lacked that good key forward for years now.
-
Wait, let me get this straight - are you trying to suggest that supporters on here would be salivating at the thought of Liam Jones playing for us? You're having a laugh. A total spud of a footballer. Thankfully the footy department thinks the same and clearly wouldn't go near him with a 50 foot pole.
-
It's amazing how quickly things can turn, and that goes for both ways. I can still recall Betts and Garlett tearing teams apart on a consistent basis. Both will still do that to opposition defences, just for different teams, and thankfully we benefit from that.
-
Just goes to show how quickly someone like Malthouse can turn on you. Garlett didn't cover himself in glory last year, but Mick wanted him gone so badly he let that blind him to his talents and we got him for basically nothing. His temper is Melbourne's gain!
-
Carlton sure could have used Jeffy Garlett up forward tonight...
-
Carlton are distinctly average. Apart from their first quarter they haven't looked like it. Too many passengers and their skills aren't flash either. Can't see them making the 8.
-
Nah, it's just that they persist with having two mediocre teams open the season. Hawthorn vs. Geelong should be the opener to help the season kick off with a bang.
