  1. Doubt it. McCarthy has had a good year, but with all the time they have put into him I can't see them giving up and trading him away at this point. To see him prosper elsewhere after they helped him back to full fitness would be a bitter pill to swallow. There is still lots of upside in him and I have no doubt they hope he can slot in at CHF next year beside Cameron and McCarthy.
  2. What if we had of dropped anyone else who has played most of the year in the side? It's speculation at it's most obscene.
  3. I don't get people on here though. I saw someone earlier saying they would drop Newton before Watts... yet they are probably the same sort of person who would then come out and complain that Newton only got one game and there is no continuity in the side and blah blah blah. Does anyone not realise that, possibly, Watts was dropped simply because he was out of form? Perish the thought. Nah, lets go right over the top with ridiculous speculation that he's been dropped because he is part of some trade deal instead. Our supporters are too bipolar for their own good.
  4. Of course he would be, but after trading Boyd last year I can't see them parting with Patton this year. Plus his injuries over the last few years would worry even the most hardcore supporter.
  5. Jesus H. Christ. Watts get dropped and it's meltdown central. Way to go Demonland.
  6. Agreed. I still maintain that he could be more damaging for us as a forward, with Frost going down back to play on the talls alongside McDonald and Dunn.
  7. Perfect game to make his debut in. He can get a taste of what AFL is like and then put in a big pre-season to see if he can either get himself on to the main list in November or put himself in a position to elevated again if we get a long term injury. I'm not expecting much, but it would be excellent to see him and Salem kicking a few left foot bullets out of defence on Sunday.
  8. But mate, he's been putting up with all of this for so much longer than us (and how can we forget, he brings it up far too regularly) so he's entitled to be as negative and sooky as he likes! It can't be questioned!
  9. Why don't you two stop denying your true feelings and just get married already? A love born out of negativity is a recipe for longevity.
  10. We hummed along to a few handy wins this year as well. Harsh, but true.
  11. Would go down as easily one of the worst contracts in AFL history. Horrible deal.
  12. No Jamar as well. Slightly disappointed for the big fella as he has surely played his last game for the club, but I can't argue with Roos going for the kids this week either.
  13. I'm not sure many posters on here know what they actually want. Unless it's an A grade midfielder, something that doesn't grow on trees, some don't seem interested. As SS said above, those who bemoan someone like M.Jones are, in the same breath, potting someone like Mayes who would be an instant upgrade on him. People fail to realise that we need more quality across the board, and if there is anyone out there who would improve our list then we need to get them. Obviously I wouldn't be happy if we paid overs for players, but we've shown ourselves to be shrewd operators when working trades over the last few years. If Sam Mayes wants to come to our club then we should welcome him with open arms.
  14. Better tell our recruiting team not to bother this year then. Might save them a lot of time to know that no quality young players will give us a look according to your good self. Get on the phone and let them know mate.
  15. I'm with you on this. Outside of him miraculously coming to us I'd much rather him stay in Adelaide and not go anywhere near the handbaggers.
  16. Is it petulance though? These problems are never a one way street. You could understand a few, but it seems that the number of players wanting out of the club grows by the day. That can't just be put down to 'petulance'.
  17. What the hell is going on in Brisbane? Does anyone want to play there?
  18. You're surprised at this? It's a shame when some are so focused on the negatives rather than just sucking it up and thanking Crossy for his contribution to our club.
  19. Thankfully we are past needing to recruit guys like Stokes. He has well and truly looked past it this year and the Cats not offering him a new deal is reflective of that.
  20. Daniel Cross - 32 Jimmy Toumpas - 21 I get what you mean Olisik, but there is still plenty of time and upside to Toumpas' game. Cross has been great for two years but we can't have him in there forever. If we want to move up the ladder and start to become a real football side then the pressure is now on our guys in the 21-24 age bracket to really step up and make a difference for us going forward.
  21. Well done Picket. You've taken a thread that should be about celebrating a players career to taking more shots at the club. All class.
  22. Grimes. Crossy has been great, but at 33 next year it was clear that he had lost a yard of pace and his skills were beginning to fade as well. I've loved him at the club but it's the right decision at the right time. As I said above - it's now time for others to take responsibility and step up to the fill his role in the side. We couldn't rely on him forever.
  23. From the article: "The club made the decision not to offer Cross a playing contract for next year and he has decided to announce his retirement from the AFL."
  24. Thanks for 2 fantastic years Crossy. Your contribution to our club as a whole was above and beyond what we hoped it would be. Now it's time for some of these young guys to step up and take your place.
  25. That will be a big sticking point I think. I wouldn't blame the Lions for wanting to play hard ball by trying to extract a high first rounder out of someone for him. Redden isn't worth that, but if we or another side don't meet that asking price then Redden stays in QLD for at least one more year until his contract is up. I hope we are in the hunt to get him as he will instantly improve our side, but I don't think they will let him go easily.
