  1. Understatement of the year. Not only have you waffled on... and on... and on about him you've gone and started a thread just so you can repeat yourself. Again. We get it mate, you don't rate him and you've got time on your hands to write an essay to rival the Gettysburg Address to let us know. Garland isn't the problem.
  2. The fact he is getting a run ahead of others shows that Roos hasn't made his mind up on him yet. If he is still being given a run in the side when he has largely disappointed over the last month suggests that he may yet get another contract at year's end.
  3. How off the mark am I today, then? I must not have read the article properly as I saw those guys mentioned as well, but they probably didn't say their contract status, more that they hadn't had much opportunity this year.
  4. You could almost name this the Bugg, Plowman, Hampton and Lamb thread really. 4 blokes who are young, OOC and possibly being let go for further picks or more cap room to sign up their gun players. The one thing Bugg does well is shut down a player. Would he be someone worth getting to free up Viney to concentrate on just getting the footy? Bugg can get the footy but, as you say, he isn't necessarily a good user of it. He's an upgrade on others on our list though so he, as well as the above 4, are all worth at least a look.
  5. You are twisting words here dazzle. It says 'signs' of a fracture, which is obviously different to their being a full fracture there. Clearly if there was he would've gotten surgery - I don't know of anyone who is able to play out a season with a fracture in their foot. Clearly they could see it flaring up and decided to let him rest and see how it turned out. Obviously things got worse and if they could turn back time they would... but they can't. I don't think Misson deserves a 'massive whack' for it. Super article though. Great to see Trenners still loves the club and he could be classed as a new recruit IF he gets through pre-season. I don't expect him to regain the form he once had but he'll be a handy player to have in the side going forward.
  6. Yep, I think we made a move for him a couple of years ago but he declined it and we got Vince instead. Redden and Mackay would be good additions to our midfield IF they came at the right price. Mackay would come cheaper than Redden I would think, and as we all know we are crying out for a little more midfield depth.
  7. Can you see past your nose jnr, or does your negativity and willingness to sink the boots in blind you to everything else? No coach is perfect. It's perfectly okay for a coach to be taken by surprise on occasion of how their players play, and that works both ways. I'm always reminded of us beating the Lions up at the GABBA in 2002 when they were flying - I bet Matthews didn't see that comeback coming and he was powerless to do anything about it. Roos obviously made a few mistakes at the selection table, no doubt about it, but he isn't the first or last coach to not see something coming. It happened to him when was with the Swans when we belted them at the MCG. Whatever he put in place in tactics and preparation obviously didn't work and he wouldn't have seen a loss like that coming. It happens. Clearly what Roos has in place CAN work. We don't need to go over the excellent wins we've had this year, but they are wins against clubs that we haven't beaten in a long time. People go back to the Bailey days and how we won games then, but all I ever remember is beating up on interstate teams at the MCG. Roos has a gameplan in place that, when executed properly, can match it very well with opposition sides. That's proof you can't deny. But I get it with you jnr. You are selfish, impatient and blind to what is really going on. Your like a 5 year old supporter who wants everything now and can't see what is really going on. Roos has us well and truly headed in the right direction. He was never, ever going to be our next premiership coach. Not even our next finals coach really. He was hired to put the club on the right path and set us up for long term success. Goodwin is the man who will hopefully reap those rewards. I've used this quote before, but Roos is planting a tree that's shade he'll never sit under and enjoy. Someone like Goodwin will do that. But thank all that is holy we got Roos as I don't think there was anyone else capable, outside of someone like Clarkson, who could put right the horrible mismanagement of our club that had been in place for too long.
  8. It won't though. They'll find a way.
  9. Call him up, ask for $1.5 million and do a better job then.
  10. It's a fair point mate. Three talls in the modern game is a little top heavy. Someone like Watts playing that third tall role is a better option, and then having Hogan and Dawes/someone else as the second tall works a little better. I can't see the club trading him this year though unless we have a very handy replacement lined up, and as far as I can tell there isn't someone better than Dawes on the market at the minute.
  11. Absolutely. His first few years under Daniher were nothing short of sensational. I still remember him running back with the flight to take a mark and almost killing himself against Essendon... and he held the mark.
  12. Unless we have a replacement line up we aren't trading Dawes. I don't care what people say - he is the perfect foil for Hogan at the minute. He provides experience and enough ability to take some of the pressure off Hogan. If we were to trade him and not have someone decent to fill his role then it's easy for teams to double team Hogan on a regular basis and we shoot ourselves in the foot. The hypothetical trade you mentioned above might work, but we would need to put in a different player. Right now I'd rather trade Howe than Dawes as he is far more replaceable.
  13. He has flown under the radar up in Brisbane with their other additions this year. Wouldn't say no to getting him at the right price.
  14. If the Redden rumour is true then the Lions are, potentially, going to lose Leuenberger, Adcock, Aish and Redden. Apparently Zorko is not all that happy up there either but I think that's been blown out of proportion. Wouldn't mind Redden in our midfield to be honest, but if he's under contract the Lions will no doubt want some very, very good in return.
  15. Tom Browne tweeted today that Adcock's contract won't be renewed by the Lions as part of their aggressive push to go with youth. Is he worth a look, or is he just another Grimes type player that we don't really need more of? He was excellent a few seasons ago but hasn't done much of note lately. Thoughts?
  16. Good to see Stretch and Salem in. I expect possibly one more change, with either Bail or ANB making way for Newton.
  17. I wonder if he was told he was going to be dropped and then just came out and told them he was going to leave anyway... ?
  18. Which you started. Let's move on.
  19. Yeah, 4 comments out of 370 is going right over the top.
  20. Including my first comment I've contributed just 2 other posts to this thread hero. I think your definition of 'time and time again' is.... wrong.
  21. So you will only bother talking about Watts when it's something negative? Not happy to praise him when he plays positively? Classy.
  22. How wonderful for you. You go right ahead and talk about the same things over and over and over again until he isn't at the club anymore. I mean, people have been doing it for years, so why stop now? Knock yourself out.
  23. I actually think he'll stay with the GC now. He has cleaned himself up and is playing good footy. They Suns MIGHT trade him given a huge offer but I don't think he'll be traded anymore.
  24. Why does there even need to be 15 pages of discussion about a player we have discussed for 1000 pages since he was drafted? I'm surprised there is anything left to discuss.
