Isn't there something in there having to be two motions in the action to constitute this? There certainly wasn't that, it was one motion and therefore doesn't this nullify the argument somewhat? Especially any accusation of it being deliberate or malicious.

What I want to see from the powers at the MFC

Yeah they are all worried that this can and will happen to one of their players in the future..... -
Beat me to it !!!

Absolutely, no more harm can be done...... An appeal should now be an absolute.

Must admit I thought the speed of the decision was also a surprise to me Redleg..... I don't think you will be alone in thinking that they came to (announced) a premeditated conclusion. One that was decided prior to maybe the panel even being chosen. If this is true then there are great machinations at work within the AFL and the Match Review Panel, while not wanting to sound like a conspiracy theorist (too much) here, but the kid has no record and laid what was a legal tackle albeit with an unfortunate outcome for the other player. Our player has been made an example of. And that for all intents and purposes is a discretionary act. But it goes further than that as I see it. The fabric of the game is always challenged with these types of decisions. What a player can and can't do within the rules changes by the week, what colours he wears, what the AFL feel they want to clamp down on that day, and who he may happen to be (she says while waving at Chris Judd). Consistency at this level is non-existent and therefore so is the players understanding of what is and isn't legal. The player twitter bomb proves that. What exactly is a tackle? No-one seems to know. Least of all the men playing the game.

There doesn't seem to be any confirmation out there as yet Daisy..... That being said I doubt very much if Sheahan would announce something so important if he didn't have his facts right

Aren't there a few available, and they rotate around?

Absolutely, and it seems to be having quite a bonding effect.

Twitter has gone into a righteous tizz....... @MorningGlorySEN Morning Glory Trengove cops 3 weeks, we are not joking @3AWNeilMitchell Neil Mitchell Trengrove decision absurd. First offense. Didn't know player had lost the ball. Ridiculous @Robbo_heraldsun Mark Robinson Twitter angst like never before... from dee fans and all fans... lack of duty of care, said tribunal. lack of understanding, says most of the rest of us Trengove still guilty.. so that means three weeks.... Wow. And Brown got two for elbow @lehmo23 lehmo Trengove gets 3 weeks!! Was Ashton Kutcher on the panel and has he yelled 'you've been punk'd' yet? #trengovegate @therunhome therunhome @MorningGlorySEN you might need AA on tomorrow - not Wednesday - to explain this one... a protest a parli house is looming #freetrengrove @TheOx05 will breathe fire tomorrow night after @jtren9 getting three weeks for laying a tackle. @emmasq Emma Quayle Love the @DemonsHQ boys sticking up for Jack. Penalty way too harsh @RalphyHeraldSun Jon Ralph Would say it was the MRP picking on a lowly club to make a stand with the Trengove decision if Jim McDonald wasn't on the panel. Stinker

Geez the kid really can't do anything right can he? If he'd landed that attempt would you still be calling him selfish? I doubt it. I am all for "doing the team thing" but you have to have the confidence to back you own abilities. He has been criticised (shocking I know) here on plenty of occasions for not having that and now that he has a dip he is criticised for that. He's really never going to win.

Oh for gods sake, he was on a comedy footy show. What the bloody hell do you want him to do? Burst into tears while ranting and raving I suppose..... But given the tone towards our captain right now I'm sure he'd be resoundingly abused for that too. The guy is having a rough patch certainly, he is playing like he is burdened by the role and position he is in, but he is not alone and he definitely isn't getting a lot, if any of help from those around him. The problems we are having (again) are team, all are responsible. I'm not apologising for rubbish form but he was almost resoundingly supported for the captaincy in here. How quick we forget what he has done for this club in pretty frigging recent times in favour of berating, no lynching a guy who is clearly in a form slump. Form fluctuates a lot and often. Do we need better from our leaders? Yes and we probably need better leaders full stop. But stop abusing Green, it's cheap.

But isn't that change meant to have been happening.....

Absolutely, not sure about their overall talent but they have a few outstanding kids and a hell of a lot of heart.
