Probably not the only thing that was unbearable yesterday though !!!
-
I actually brought this up in another thread as after I saw it it baffled me completely..... I wanted some other opinions and just got them, thank guys!!!
-
Did you seeriously just compare the players of the Melbourne Football Club with Anna Kournavoka?
-
Well yes, Chris is never wrong or ever at fault.....ever!!!
-
Look we all know (Brad included probably) that he is the unenviable seat warmer for the next younger leader at the club. It is a difficult position to be in, knowing that, and it is one that he has not taken to with ease (on the field anyway), but he was chosen miles ahead of anyone else and deserved and earned his selection. And his position as captain is not going to change mid-season, so advocating for it is both stupid and a waste of time. As for the future, whether that be next year or the year after that, I'm in the Grimes camp.

OK Mrs Robinson implications aside I am very disappoited not to be included here B) !!!

Not entirely wrong although I'm pretty sure saying "outback suburbs" kind of demonstrates how little people know the size and importance of western Sydney. The traffic heading to the city at peak hour is shocking (and expensive), as it is everywhere, but if you're heading the other way it's fine. And as for being irrelevant. That is completely correct. AFL has not and never will "take over" up here, despite the best divide and conquer techniques of Vlad and Co. Whether you like or respect the sport or not this is league territory and while there will be the fluff and bubble of something new, it will pass as the kids go back to the massive junior footy programs (not AusKick which is has never caught on out there) in the Western Suburbs. The Gold Coast was a far easier sell than here and everyone is well aware of it. There has not been a mention of Sheedy or GWS in the Sydney media since a fleeting piece when Falou (who as a Queenslander is not a great marquee player for this area either) kicked his couple of goals in the Canberra league. The AFL will keep GWS afloat and clearly it has a lot of money to spend, but despite the fact moving to Sydney is fine (hey it's my home town and I love it here), the organisation will never have the same popularity here has the Swans do (although it did take a series of hugely successful years for people to pay too much attention) nor will they in my opinion be as successful as the Gold Coast have been (relatively speaking). But if Tom wants to move North then good luck to him, his bank manager will be thrilled but it will not be an easy adjustment.

As has Tregove himself about feeling a little light in the wallet.... But I wouldn't think there is a ban, maybe it's just that they had nothing to say.
-
Oh my goodness Bobby, that would be way to logical..... Far easier and more profitable to simply blame and fine the players as one big guilty group. Honestly the kid is going to have start taking charity meals from his team mates if this keeps up !!!

You have got to be kidding......

Watching the repeat of One Week At A Time over lunch (and yes you can make any assumption about my world that you please to) where Quartermaine and Lloyd were discussing the horribleness of yesterday for the Dees and Lloyd managed to single out Jack Watts (and only Jack Watts) to put his boot into, saying he didn't put enough effort into a chase and just ran to the closest Pie available, so to Lloyd it looked like Jack was only putting in a token effort. Now I have to ask that for all the awfulness that we and the media witnessed yesterday why is it that Watts is the only one that is singled out for criticism? When in truth he was far from our worst, actually (despite fading in the fourth) one of better players out there. I feel sorry for the kid. Just curious of peoples opinions......

Oh I know the Storm coaches came over to show us how they do it, and I understand the reasons why, (Swans have been doing it for years up here) but clearly that didn't either sink in or catch on or they didn't want to do it. But the Storm also won their match today and often out tackle their opposition. So no blaming of the league boys here, they clearly know what they are teaching !!!
-
Don't go blaming the Storm, they manage it just fine!!!

I hope that comment wasn't aimed at me as all I was trying to point out was that this thread needs to at least try to stay on topic.
-
Wow, I hope that kind of hateful attitude doesn't hurt too much.

This thread is going so well so far......

6. Sylvia 5. Watts 4. Morton 3. Howe 2. Moloney 1. Scully I also thought Martin again did a good job.

And few weeks ago he was well criticised in here for taking the shot and not apparently "doing the team thing" and handing it off....
-
Oh we're not at all differing, I was just saying playing all three again togther would be utterly insane...... And I agree with you on Petterd, he is the one to come in for mine. Hopefully he has learned his lesson from previous weeks, and given his apparently BOG performance for Casey, his prickly attitude and size and (hopefully) work rate will be valuable on the forward flank maybe pushing into the middle when necessary. He is my pick also.
-
I tend to agree with this..... This is the first bout of really poor form we have seen from him in more than a couple of years. It is just horribly bad timing, given the extra responsibility he must now deal with. And he isn't coping with it at all well. I have always had faith in Brad, and while I am not happy with his output at this moment I believe he is still very valuable to us. People all over the place now are saying there is too little experience and yet willing (wanting) to remove Green. Admittedly he MUST improve, but I am not willing to throw him away like we have done to others.
-
I understand what you are saying, too much to handle too inexperienced to handle it..... But please lets not go from frying pan to fire and champion the selection of Bate, Dunn and Petterd.

As opposed to a new club with no support or passion whatsoever, not to mention there won't be copious amounts of success up here in the near future either. But if that is what he wants, because as you say he should run from a poor loss (which he was very much a part of) at Melbourne, while we are still developing, then I wouldn't really know what to make of him. But then again that belief seems like you think he should leave because we lost today and are having an up and down year. Not a great thought and I hope he is better than you are for thinking like that. That doesn't seem terribly honourable. But you would have him screw honour? But then again with that kind of money, maybe Rooty Hill looks better than it should.
-
I wouldn't have thought that responsibility lies just with the captain but with any forward with a shot of the same type. He was poor today unfortunately and as captain (something most here wanted) he needs to find a way into these kind of games.
