  1. This is going to be great, remember the auctions will continue on the night!
  2. *sigh* seems my sarcastic jibe was missplaced...
  3. There's a new article on Nathan Jones and his ability to handle taggers on the MFC website Demon turns around day from hell One line that poses big questions around here from the article is as follows: "Jones credits his ability to hit back from that tough day at the office to a couple of senior figures at DEMONLAND." Alright, fess up, who's been helping out the kid? We want names!
  4. Where's Benny has turned into Where's Wally every week for the last month, what's going on with Dutchy? Great to see Gags back on the bench, he'll be crucial in the run in to the finals.
  5. Ah, you've hit the nail right on the head mo, thats exactly who Meesen reminds me of. Same running style, gangly ungainly but somehow athletic, yet both had/have no idea how to get the football. Good call. Maybe we can trade him to Freo to be with Kepler?
  6. McLean will already have a week to rest his ankle! By all reports he'd be fit even if the game was played this weekend. I'd think that Morton or Yze would come in for Bode. No strictly a like-for-like, but not really that important. And given that its a Sunday game, and the obligatory 3 extra-ins have to be named, throw in White and Frawley/Bell into the bench mix for balance of mids/back/fwds.
  7. How did Gags go in his first game back after his knee injury in the twos? And Barry do you know how far off Danny Hughes is from resuming also? Thanks for the reports guys!
  8. Hmm, when was the last time White was in the best? How about two weeks ago: BEST Richmond: Richardson, Deledio, Brown, Tuck, Cotchin, Polak Melbourne: Bruce, Wheatley, McLean, Miller, White, Garland You should ask yourself when was the last time Jamar was in the best! This is a disgraceful selection decision for mine....
  9. The segment was humorous enough, and as someone has already said 'any publicity is good publicity'. I think he knew more about the club than he did, and was 'playing dumb'. For those that didnt see it, they showed a clip of him running into the tackle bags (where he did indeed look like a dead-ringer form Morton), jumper over the ruck bags which Chairman Jim was wearing to take a hanger, not being able to complete push-ups in the change rooms and finally trying to peel Garry Lyons name off the #3 locker, much to hoots of laughter from Clint Bartam. He was then presented with a guernsey from Garry in the studio. A good segment overall for us.. As for being our potential #1 ticket holder? Anything is better than the corrupt and morally bankrupt Lord Mayor that currently holds that honour. Oh, and the 3AW host that people speak of is Nick MCallum, who also hosts all of our post-game functions and does a pretty good job I think.
  10. Martin has served his apprenticeship for the last 18 months at Sandy primarily as a backman, while also time-sharing short stints in the ruck and resting up forward. But its clear he's being groomed as a key backman. There's no reason we can't play all 3 of Garland, Warnock and Martin this year, as Garland can play 'small' as can Warnock. Where that leaves Rivers for a spot when he comes back I dont know, you may well find Garland then have another crack at being a forward.
  11. Good luck to Stef, here's hoping he plays well! Obviously only one of the ruckmen will survive that bench cull, it will be White I would think. Won't be too fussed if Bode and Carroll dont get selected either. Bode has shown very little in his 3 games, and we all know Carrolls weaknesses (and strengths to be fair), but we've already got Warnock, Garland and Martin as key defenders selected in the 18.
  12. Green © Bruce (vc) McDonald (vc) Miller McLean There's nothing to indicate Junior won't go on next year. Jack Grimes to be captain in '10....
  13. Well we do train on a cricket oval most of the year at the junction. Maybe he was here and saw 40 fit-looking blokes running around the wicket area thinking he was getting a whole cricket squad? We'd have to change our name from MelbourneFC to the Melbourne KnightRiders.
  14. There was a stat in today or yesterdays papers stating we as a team have gone into our forward 50 the least of any side in the competition so far this year, so it's imperative that our forwards make the most of their opportunities this year, which to their credit I think they are...
  15. Just reported on SEN that Goodes gets 2 weeks, and 1 with an early guilty plea. Finally the streak is over and justice has been served!
  16. So it's Nick Sauntners fault that Zomer got as few posessions as he did last week with no competition for the full-forward spot? Come on, this argument is getting old and boring...
  17. Adem Yze is definitely omitted, I've heard this first hand that he's playing for Sandy this weekend. Strange therefore that he was up there promoting the game the other day....
  18. Valenti has had 2 games for the Demons. Surely you weren't expecting him to rack up 30 possies in his first few games? He's shown at Sandringham that he will run and create posessions all day when given the full game to do so, he's only 21 and should get plenty more chances to show that he can, and I believe he will, replicate his Sandy form at the top level.
  19. It's all Brad Millers fault. Sack him!
  20. Geez Brock looks like he's running in quicksand at times, he is so slow, yet he has the quickest football mind of anyone on our list, which separates him from the good and the great players on our list. My tip for the Bluey Truscott, and a re-elevation back into the leadership group next year.
  21. Tigers Team has been published. Jake King is a big out for them. A second family-matchup of the year also awaits Cale Morton as his brother Mitch is recalled.... RICHMOND v MELBOURNE Richmond B: Chris Newman, Luke McGuane, Graham Polak HB: Jordan McMahon, Kelvin Moore, Daniel Jackson C: Matthew Richardson, Shane Tuck, Matt White HF: Mitch Morton, Jack Riewoldt, Richard Tambling F: Adam Pattison, Nathan Brown, Trent Cotchin Foll: Troy Simmonds, Brett Deledio, Nathan Foley I/C (from): Dean Polo, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls, Chris Hyde, Joel Bowden, Alex Rance, Jay Schulz,Shane Edwards In: Riewoldt, Rance, Oakley-Nicholls, Hyde, Jackson, Polo, Morton Out: Will Thursfield (hamstring), Jake King (hamstring), Greg Tivendale, Kayne Pettifer
  22. Thanks for the video link BRB. I was at the game, but its always good to look back over a game again from the cameras perspective. Is it just me, or does everyone find the radio broadcast by the local station absolutely useless, as it's about 4 seconds behind the actual play?. Lets not get carried away with Zomer, that was his first game at Senior Level at Sandy. If he can put together 6-7 weeks of performances like that, and learn as much as he can, then we maybe could consider him for a Melbourne list elevation. The way people are talking here he's our readymade answer to our retired captain. I was quite impressed with Plymin's game on a wing too, he had a real dip. For mine Biddlecombe was the clear standout of the Sandy listed players..
  23. The Fonz was on SEN this morning, and when asked if he was satisfied with the crowd on Monday said 'No, I wasnt, I expected 70,000 given the celebrations of the 150th etc etc' He said the League would look at whether the Demons got a Queens birthday game again next year, but applauded Collingwood for offering it to us as a home game each year.
  24. Well Petterd was selected in the Sandy 2's on Friday, so there was hardly any mystery that he was going to play half a game...
