  1. Don’t usually quote myself, but I couldn’t agree with myself more. You could see tonight (as David King mentioned), he held the ball and took the game on. Tonight, it came off where it hasn’t in previous weeks. But the more it becomes the norm, the better he is going to get.
  2. At this point in time he isn’t top 100, but he was top 22 2 years ago at the age of 20/21 when he was AA. Im still convinced this year will be a step backwards to take 2 forwards. He’s trying to hold onto the ball and take it on a bit more. He has lost confidence in his kicking, which has been nowhere near this bad in previous years, so I’m confident it will come.
  3. Surprised by the support for Oscar. He was bad against Brisbane and then diabolical against Port. Tomlinson will slot in there which means we don’t lose much from a structure point of view.
  4. I’m thinking Tomlinson might play back. I would personally leave out one of Jones or Sparrow in favour of another more suited to playing on the outside, but we know by now that isn’t Goodwin’s go.
  5. Interesting that the other 3 teams playing tomorrow have loads of players “managed”. We actually have the least changes out of any of them. Adelaide have a good 7/8 changes.
  6. Usually yes, but I’m personally loving hearing any noise at the footy this year
  7. In the space of 7 games since the restart, we have played with 1 tall, 2 talls and now 3 talls, which does give the impression goodwin is just throwing darts and hoping something works at this stage.
  8. I assumed he would play half forward or half back, but to get lots of centre bounces was an odd decision. As the OP mentioned, he wasn’t bad, but not sure he improves the team at all playing in the guts.
  9. I really like Garry in the media. He clearly understands and articulates our problems on field, whereas I listened to some absolute dribble from Derm today that made me think he hasn’t watched a single Melbourne game all year. But there is no chance he is coaching Melbourne.
  10. If I had to make a prediction, I think we will 1) Smash Adelaide - we will be fuming and they are rubbish 2) There will be plenty of back slapping and comments about how that was our brand etc etc 3) Get rolled by North
  11. To me he is being coached to expand his game, and has lost a bit of confidence. When he started, yes he handballed a lot, but he was such a creative handballer in traffic. He often was compared to Greg Williams, and for good reason. I'm still convinced it will turn for him. It might be a case of a step back to take a couple of steps forward in the future.
  12. I honestly couldn't find 6 players who held their own last night. One of the worst performances I have seen, an absolute train wreck.
  13. He was [censored] last night, but he has been good. I was at the game on Sunday vs Brisbane and genuinely noticed how important he was in blocking space on the wing and stopping that easy transition we have been so susceptible to in the past.
  14. He’s done. It’s sad because he was obviously a good player, but he has added size and looks like an absolute lump out there.
  15. Almost threw up every time I heard it. They had a 5 day break and a cross country trip.
  16. Dogs breakfast. Nobody had a half decent game. After some good signs, that hurts big time.
  17. Anyone who is commenting on the umpiring is 100% missing the point. Nothing but a deflection from one of the worst performances we have served up in years.
  18. McDonald is officially cooked which is sad. He looks like a big truck out there trying to keep up with everyone.
  19. Our percentage actually meant we were still a chance, even if we lost tonight. So much for that! I’ve got low standards, but this is one of the most pathetic performances I’ve seen.
  20. Well, that was a debacle. I’ve put a lot of our problems down to Goodwin previously, but this is down to effort, intensity and skill execution. Not even close to resembling our improved performance the last few weeks.
  21. We turned the corner, but unfortunately we kept turning and did a 180.
  22. He has been dreadful this year, but as you say, he always seems to kill us.
  23. Jesus, obviously a bit of mental scarring among that bunch. They do have a tendency to fall away in seasons, so I would love to see the comments if we get over them tonight.
  24. I can only assume it is more a financial decision, rather than anything to do with social distancing or anything like that. All other recent games have had attendances (at least in the 1000's rather than 500). I think 500 might be some sort of tipping point where the club/league doesn't have to involve additional ground staff, public resource etc. But this is guesswork, and I am no expert. On one hand, I can understand. It's a tough year, and we need to make ends meet. On the other hand, it's frustrating this hasn't been communicated at all until people have reached out. I'm sure there are people who didn't go on Sunday, under the assumption they would attend Thursday's game in Brisbane.
