  1. I agree, but I think any decent league footballer should be slotting 80-90% of those chances as opposed to the the 20-30% that Bail does. Either way, whether he takes them on or lays it off, it isn't good enough. In saying that, I do like Bail and think he can get there, but he either needs to take those chances or turn them into assists.
  2. Rohan Bail has one or two chances a game where he should convert, but he rarely converts on the run. If he could take those chances, that turns an average 16 disposal game where he burns a couple of chances, to a 16 disposal, 2 goal performance which is decent.
  3. Yep, not even going to bother with comparisons to us as we all know how [censored] we have been, but Michael Voss gets very little attention considering where Brisbane are at. I don't think there is the same culture in rugby league and therefore rugby league states where coaches are under the pump so much, at least not to the same extent as our game, and particularly in Melbourne. Perhaps it's a good thing.
  4. People should read up about Operation Puerto which was an investigation into doping, which implicated a huge number of cyclists in a far worse manner than a bit of cream for a foot. And I am almost certain no direct sanctions came from that. Sure riders were target tested and tests positive overtime, but it takes more evidence than a text or even a few words to sanction an athlete. Btw, this isn't defending jack or the club, just merely saying how I see any potential bans playing out. Hopefully he, and others, have little to worry about.
  5. It was alluded to in the texts that Jack should have AOD for his foot. The next question is whether he applied the cream, and then the most important question is whether you can prove it. You would want to be damn sure of it before whacking a player with a year or two ban, and anything short of an admission or a positive test isn't good enough. Again, just have have to wait and see what pans out. I have followed cycling for years, and riders don't get banned unless they test positive, make an admission or are caught in possession pretty much.
  6. "I think the thing we've taken a few weeks to grasp has been that just because we have done the work over summer, it doesn't mean results will happen for us. Rather, we are now capable of competing with sides because we have done the work. It's OK though, we needed to learn that lesson and we will get better." Spot on Dawesy. This is the impression I was getting when all you hear about after losses is how well they trained. Hopefully every player realises this.
  7. I am very nervous about his knees. God I hope they hold up.
  8. He was good today, but that doesn't mean he is unfairly maligned because one good game. I actually think he has gone under the radar far too much over the last couple of seasons compared to some others.
  9. Normally maybe, but at the moment I honestly could not care any less.
  10. This ranks very low on my list of concerns at the moment. The way I'm feeling of late, I wouldn't mind heading to Europe and dusting on with some locals.
  11. He did very well in the bombing in the pool competition on the robbo show last year. Come to think of it, maybe he wa in the infamous spa. I have images of Hot Tub Time Machine in my head.
  12. The part i said about getting them back to their best is key. James Frawley should be coming into his prime years, he was All Australian at such a young age. If we get rid of a player like Frawley, even for pick 10ish, I will be ropable at both Frawley and the club. The whole idea of the draft is to get your hands on players like Chip and if we, and he, can't the best out of him and he just walks to another club, it is an indictment on the club in my eyes. Jamar is a different story as he is on the downward side of his career, and is regressing at a million miles an hour. If he can get back to 2010 form, of course he has a spot, but it is looking unlikely.
  13. We can't keep leaking experienced players. We have lost so many over recent years. Ad especially considering how good we know Frawley can be. Need to find a way to he these players back to their best, rather than just getting rid of them, even if it is through a trade. This recent cycle is counter productive.
  14. For those calling for him to retire, I think we should just let Rohan and the experts deal with that. Melbourne have taken a cautious approach and that is to be commended. I really liked his game on Saturday and have always seen something in him, so hopefully he can continue his career, and post career, unaffected.
  15. Not defending the recruiting decisions as ultimately they are judged on their on field performance, but one thing the mature recruits do is balance our list out in terms of age, meaning future list management might be a bit easier as we can move older guys on, give some of our kids more time to develop. Rather than a couple of years back where it seemed we were so chock full of 18-22 year olds, it is hard to justify delisting them when they haven't had long in the system..
  16. Unfortunately, our midfield is so far below the required standard it isn't funny. Our forward line I don't think is too bad, but gets absolutely no ball at the moment, while I also think our back line isn't as bad as it looks due to the ridiculous amount of inside 50's and spare men they are currently having to deal with. At the moment, Nathan Jones is probably the only mid at the level required, while the likes of Trengove and Viney will (or at least should) get there. There are only two things that can get our midfield up to scratch. 1. Time and Drafting - the likes of Viney, Toumpas and probably the selection of best mids in the next couple of drafts will need time to get up to the required level. Viney is already well worth his spot, but he still needs time. 2. Bringing in Experienced Mids - we have to go hard for Daisy Thomas and any other quality mid out there, but unfortunately unless we get them to sign something while they are blind drunk or asleep, it ain't going to happen. So unfortunately, the only fix to our problems is time, and who knows how much of that we actually have.
  17. Where we are at, the first half was definitely acceptable. I didn't really care much for errors, but was impressed with the effort and intensity. I don't think anyone actually believes the first half was finals quality football or anything like that.
  18. I have completely forgotten Dawes. Must be sitting there thinking what the fark was I thinking.
  19. But sorry, this was meant to be a positive thread, so scratch my last comment. At least there were some positives today.
  20. I couldn't disagree anymore. We all know that the first half was ok, but the fact that the difference from one half to the next was so stark just illustrates how mentally weak, and perhaps physically weak, our list is.
  21. I can fully understand why people have Neeld in the gun, but I really hope they stick with him. Another sacking and change of direction means a new coach, another clean out and the whole cycle starts again. As I said I can understand the 'Sack Neeld' argument, so I am not interested in arguing with those in that camp, just my humble opinion and gut feel I guess.
  22. Agree with Jaded. This kid is obviously not quite ready and trying to come in and make it happen in our current situation is obviously going to be tough for an 18 year old (unless you are Jack Viney). He should play at Casey until at least the second half of the season and hopefully he will be dominating games at that level by then.
  23. 10 plus years of development and the old 'big men take time' cliche, and all we have to show for it is one good year of footy.
  24. Does anyone else get confused by this Best character playing for Casey. I read that as Taggert as our best on the first take. Gawn has to be a certainty to play next week.
