  1. i'm hoping its some shrewd coaching from mr D by naming wheels mclean and petterd on the bench. i really hope they are fit enough to play, because wheels and mclean have history of soft tissue injuries, and we dont want to start a youngster on the same path in pettered. but if they're 100% this game could be on
  2. watch out for this one, it happens at least 20 times a game. midfielders trying to chase down a player and end up putting hands on the back when/after the ball is kicked. waiting for that to be paid, then the vain in the neck will really pop
  3. nah davey would rule the anaerobic, but yeah i could see why bruce would be good. he's got the physique for aerobic exercise. to be honest i've never really seen him sprint, even at full pace he doesn't look to be going to quick. so maybe his body isn't very good at anaerobic exercise.
  4. since danners has come in only 2 victorian clubs have won premierships. both of those coaches have now coached bottom 4 sides in the past two years. i really think we shouldn't be too critical of danners
  5. that's incredibly true. i've literally started screaming abuse when we've got a free kick on occasions they've been that bad. people around me say that it's our free, but doesn't really bother me. they should be instructed to put the whistle in their pockets
  6. if he's only now at uni to learn how to coach, i don't want him near my club for some time yet
  7. yeah i agree, but in relation to the roos, haven't they been training since like first week of october? they'll fall away
  8. does that mean that a lot of computers are being munched?
  9. this one rule has made me lose more faith in the afl than i think anything else they've done, possibly even put together. how can it be brought in without being trialled, let alone without even seeking the opinion of the fans. i've no doubt the afl are simply trying to neaten the game up so it can be presented as a nice little package and sold to any other, rich, people who are not as yet connected to the game. i've not heard one person who is vehemently for the rule, and haven't yet heard proper rationale for it's introduction. this stinks of an arrogant head office who don't care about the people who really make this game great, for after all without fans there's nothing. jesaulenko you...bloomen fool, you put your hands in the back and ruined the game's most recognisable quote
  10. good call, i think japan is just as feasable as china, indeed the whole region could be very beneficial to our club. btw what's going on with the ac milan tie with us? if they win champs league do we get any dosh?
  11. reverse the spine (sort of)! neitz chb, rivers to chf, carroll to full forward (imagine the full back's reaction) and dunn to fb. wow! to be honest on the topic of rivers, i don't mind where the kid plays, he's just great to watch. never seen someone read the game so well. but i do think him being the loose backman is his best position.
  12. http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/...px?newsId=43307 in this article matthew bate talks about his lack of form at the beginning of the season to be due to a deficiency in proper mindset. in the past week i've heard bruce and someone else say it about our start to the season. why is it that a team who has had to work hard to get to this position, who still after last year had (in terms of a premiership) achieved nothing, and yet we still managed to have the wrong mindset? i wonder what happened to the guys in summer to have the 'wrong mindset' at the beginning of the year when knew we had so much work still to do. perhaps taking west coast's gameplan didn't help, but i don't see why our mindset would not be in the job. last year we proved we have the mental strength, including that game against the swans, the fightback against the crows and the elimination final. how could collective mindset be so wrong at a time where the dees should have been fighting to reach the top?
  13. yeah, and bell will learn so much from it as well. geez he's impressed me this year. i had my, quiet, concerns, but this year he has really shown such maturity. playing on judd would really show him the next level of his game which i'm sure he can get to
  14. (not that i want this to happen, so don't whinge that i'm bashing players rah rah) but what happens if byron does decide to retire? can we elevate a rookie? i.e. does retirement count the same as long term injury list etc.
  15. yeah i completely agree if his mind is intact he has the perfect opportunity to refresh his body and get into the form and fitness we know he is capable. he helped us immensely last year, and i think his mentoring of younger players was crucial. however this isn't helped if he doesn't set a proper example
  16. neitz at chb!!! to bring me back to my youth!
  17. to be honest i really don't wanna see danners go. he was everybody's favourite last year, now suddenly he 'deserves' to go even though we all blame injuries for our poor start. i refuse to buy into throwing away a decade of coaching experience unless it is of top quality, and i really don't think there are many candidates better than danners. that and he loves the club.
  18. 14 players in the back 50 at centre bounces, then all flood forward. tops!
  19. if he wishes, he's now got a 5 week pre season to get back to his best shape in the past 18 months which he wouldn't have been able to do when playing
  20. haha...ha, johnstone smother. keep hanging round that bulldog mate, sounds like a funny guy
  21. good call pavlich for godfrey! fair call, they should be happy with that too.
  22. concerned at seeing one of our best 22 as players who have never played a game. just put whelan in every possie
  23. when you're hot you're hot......... but honestly, this goes beyound luck. maybe the football gods want us to come from last to win the flag the next year, in our 150th year!
  24. with that attitude it doesn't seem like he cares if he makes 200, and as such, neither do i
  25. no co-incidence that our two most passionate and intense performances have come since the skipper has come back. form or not, he has lifted our team
