  1. how can you say not well done when we put it such an effort. we were just a small backmen from repelling so many attacks with force and direction, i.e. matthew whelan. 110% effort, cant ask for more
  2. don't want to, don';t know if 10 players will be gone, but hey, have a dip son; bizzell wheatley neitz (though i want him forever) bruce for judd but nah, hope they all stay, love them all.
  3. good on the boys, im proud of them, gutted, suicidal and depressed, but proud, go the boys. great effort. if that damn midget didn't pretend he was a magician we would've won. colin's mark deserved the goal. top effort. footy is so much in the brains, as we have proved the past two weeks, attitude will make us win more than we lose from here on in, injuries or not
  4. 0-7, play people who have a go! brown, ward, godfrey, they have a dip! they go in! if it wasn't for the change in attitude of the club we'd be 0-7 with no respect. i am proud of the boys today because they had a dip. walk them over hot coals at training and select them at that. godfrey brown ward would be some of the first to bleed for this jumper. missed tackles killed us today, allowed them to free up and run the lines which they love so much.
  5. spot on! rubbish one piece of play costs a team a match. much the same as johnson's awesome goal winning them the game, it was a top goal as it kills me to say. davey ran that hard he desrved to have a sleep let alone a moment off of concerntration. when you're a goal up and your captain punches someone in the face, giving away a goal that's painful, but i won't blame neitz, i love him and i reckon he's injured. so proud of the bois, played way hard, tougher around the clinches. why we played their game plan i won't understand, we gave them a run on by playing that free flow. we killed them in close yet decided to allow them open, free flowing play. don't get it so proud, so frustrated, so drunk COME ON YOUR SPURS
  6. telstra dome can [Mod Edit]. detest it. i see the western oval every day, as its next to my train station, and it realy does make me miss suburban footy, and i hardly even got to live in it's time anyway! odd to have nostalgia over something you haven't really experienced. but yeah to see it's stands pulled down now ready for some stupidly expensive upgrade, it seems even suburban grounds are going the way of td. td. Seven's Telstra Dome, a true STD.
  7. haha i try but my knicks are just no good...yet!
  8. it's such a sad thing. i thought maybe i'm losing interest cos i finished school etc. even two years ago i'd watch the full 8 games by the time the next round started. but i just find it so hard to watch now. especially that god forsaken corporate dome. it's shocking, i can't go there. i literally feel sick, piece of rubbish. i don't quite know what it is about the game, maybe it's the drought to blame, changing the shape of footy. but yeah, i was saying if the umpiring doesn't change, ie better trained or better rules, by the end of the year, i dunno if i'll care after long. who knows. i mean of coures the passion is always there. like schitzophrenia, as soon as the ball bounces, i can be in a mellow mood and just snap. gotta love the boys, but gotta say if it isn't a melbourne match tipping is almost all that keeps me interested perhaps danners feels the same as us, and is struggling to research the opposition. the afl is digusting. they've been slowly changing the game for the past 5-10 years, bringing in softer rule interpretations and igger sponsorship. claiming this rubbish tv rights deals means more footy for more people, when in fact there are no extra live matches on tv, but only one less free to air. i reckon they've had it in their minds for a while what the ywant the game to be, and have been changing it to shape that wish, without any consultation with the people that make them their money, the fans. disgrace, cmon dees for the flag
  9. oops! forgot choppy carroll carroll with carson from [censored] eye for the straight guy,....please! haha love the vanstone comment, so true. though she's probably a praying mantis and would eat poor cameron, that was her policy for fixing the asylum seekers i believe
  10. a question that has frustrated me for a very long time, especially given my affinity for wheels. how can a man who has been so instrumental to our team, and many of our wins, have polled in one game? it honestly boggles the mind. however in saying that, it is very difficult to be critical of upires for that. 44 players on the ground, itd have to be difficult to give one of the top three a vote for stopping an opposition player. perhaps the brownlow count, or any other count, should have a panel of backmen who vote on the effectiveness of backmen in each game, maybe giving votes for the two best stoppers in a game. because a guy like glenn archer deserves more accolades, not that they would change anybodys perceptions of him
  11. so we don't hold the record anymore. same reason i hope for 97 point gf margin
  12. godfrey and shaquille o neal - that'll shut you godfrey bashers up whelan and a truck - well, no need really rivers and pamela anderson - get a bit of size about him colin sylvia and a mirror nathan carroll and jana pittman - he's gotta meet someone with more attitude than him neitz and....agreed, anyone!! that's some damned good dna miller and sharelle mcmahon - get him to catch it out in front, good looking kids too!! johnstone and corrine grant, imagine him playing with excitement....alll the time! wow mclean and maggie thatcher - boys gotta learn hard-line leadership from the best!.... ha! but nah, all seriousness congrats jeff white, and maybe belinda clarke could go with neita, fair bit of success there!!! p.s. hope the ox found someone with good knees

what?? not close to a brownlow? most votes of any current player not to win the award, 4th in 04 and 05, 3rd 98, 2nd in 06 and 2nd in 2000, where really he won given woey got 2 brownlow votes but no b and f votes. 7 best and fairests, 5 all australians. statistics don't mean everything, but i love watching west play, and you can't say he hasn't come close to a brownlow
  14. dees by 23. or 191 (the margin i hope every game ends in)
  15. godders and brown both played last time, on a bigger ground, and we trounced them. if we play as a team we'll be fine. last time brown 20 touches and godders even nailed a nice goal!
  16. wow, prior opportunity! i thought you'd disappeared!! at least from the footy field anyway
  17. ha, how can you ask the relevance of 64? i rise to the weg poster every day
  18. how's the luck, petterd into the dream team, out of the dees team, maybe if i trade him tomorrow he'll make a miraculous recovery
  19. yeah i do agree it's a beat up, though i think it was helped by him playing the national carnival during Ramadan where he couldn't eat or keep up the fluids otherp layers could, but still performed very well. so they reckon he's got talent. good on him for debuting, obviously playing afl is a brilliant achievement, but yeah don't see the craaaaaazy nature of it.
  20. agreed, top constructive advice. also is it just me that feels that davey has lost some toe a bit this year? i hope it's just an injury or something, but maybe focusing his attention on durability has hurt his sprinting capacity. also i saw we kicked 3 goals from port kick ins on the weekend, which is good to see as we used to kick a point then allow a goal. but yeah, don't see the point in bell leaving a target to wait on his own while trav gets it. i really think if wheels was there the backline would have a better fit about it, although we're coping better than the last few years. centre half forward line is so often the problem. i think davey and green as leading forward with sylvia, neitz and another tall in various marking contests would work well, though i think it's an impossible science!
  21. Too many injuries (just thought i'd throw in the old excuse). :D
  22. what you mean saddest stories of 07? that wheels has gotten injured? cos the picture is 05
  23. ha wow that's eeeeerie! things just, dissappear. haha sorry, just still getting used to the site!
  24. auskick is for auskick people. not just dees dudes, wouldnt that be it
  25. Given the amount of Daniher criticism and the opinionated views of us all, i'm curious to hear people's views on melbourne's best structure and gameplan, how would we like to see us play. over the past few years we've had many various types of wins, from the fast, free-running wins that the media perceive our team to be, against the tigers, hawks saints and cats. however we have also battled out many victories, often winning more than we lose. two in 05 against the premiers, sydney, and the 05 home and away champions, adelaide, in tough, wet games, with a lot of close in contact. i have often believed us to be a small, fast moving team, however the way this falls apart in the colder months i wonder if this is indeed the way you can win a premiership. do you guys reckon it can be done, or do you simply need a perfect mix of both? i feel having tough, good close in players around the ball at all times is necessary for first use and tempo, and guys like bruce and trav, when their skills are up, should play as wingers who can play link play between the backline and forwardline, which is possibly the biggest problem in football. i reckon the next step in the game will be midfield goals, as i believe midfielders should be able to kick around half of the goals kicked in matches with their abillity to run, break lines, and kick from outside 50. i like neitz at about 30, with green leading out from the goalsquare. thinking this way makes me realise that being a coach must be the hardest damn thing to do, but i think we have the ability to win most contests around the ground, and have a proper mix of ball winners and ball users, but i must say i feel the close in contact game is a game easier to use in the long-term factor of the season, with the fast running game as plan b to break open matches. (and pre-emptively, i am not an idiot for these statements, so don't bother)
