  1. what rough patch ?
  2. will have to watch it again but he maintained pressure on them with his pace and i cant remember any 'run in' goals out the back. his last 3 games were over 20 possessions so looks like an aberration. and hes learning a new position.
  3. Thing is Disco is playing extremely good footy as the third tall down back. He was critical to this win. Tmac and May look like they have full faith in him impacting and spoiling the contest over the top. He was sensational today.
  4. some stats for those interested re the Hawks. Hawthorn again won the free kick count last night but have not lost the free kick in EVERY game this year only tieing with us last week ironically. They are now +60 free kicks for the year. you read correctly +60. how is noone writing about this ? that is more than an anomaly. Mitchell says they will do things differently under his coaching. Nope that is exactly the same as under Clarko, build from the outside in, get good kickers and make up for lack of inside beasts using 'other ways' to win the contest.
  5. you are in the wrong place for that.
  6. if you typed that on draft night it would be relevant. hindsight is always with 20/20 vision.
  7. We had to play JVR and wasnt disgraced. you could defs put and argument for selecting Jefferson who was poor today.
  8. glad you are our high performance coach and know where his body is at. do tell ?

I'm glad people on here aren't our coaches. First time tagging ? and by the coaches comments did an outstanding job. Bit like everyone saying Windsor is not a half back ( based on 1 or 2 games) and was outstanding down back today. Chandler is not a half forward, one of our best this year. Goodwin said he 'blinked' last year when we got injuries and went back to the defensive approach but will stay the course this time. Around the ground i thought we beat them for 3 quarters we just did not finish. simple as that. and now people just pluck any silly reason out of their hat.
  10. Yes id like the many regulars who were scathing of Chandler also in the first few rounds to formally apologise now. thank you
  11. yep hawks are again becoming elite on the outside. we need to spread to stop their run. if we give them space we will pay. We have the cattle to beat them. the one thing i see in difference is CONFIDENCE. if we get our mojo we will roll them. But thats the big 'IF'

And Blakeys dad worked for the Swans. He was born with a footy in his cot so it was utterly ridiculous he got to play for the swans. Same goes for Kalani.
  13. this makes me sick. its the Clarko years all again. remember #Freekickhawthorn. Basically build an outside game and beat other talented star midfielders in contested footy by playing for free kicks. same pattern rinse and repeat.
  14. wouldnt call Kolt's 14 disposals , 4 tackles and 3 shots on goals from 76% time on ground a 'nightmare game'.
  15. whats the one things that surprised you the most, that you did not expect in an AFL environment ?
  16. turned back the clock...to last year you mean probs his best for the club.
  17. so whats your answer with Petty out ? JVR has to come in. and we'd still be short up forward as he will do some ruck work.
  18. He will never ever be captain. and shouldn't be.
  19. So we are ignoring all his clearing spoils last night? and keeping Waterman to 3, lets say really 2 as he got a bull&*%& head high for one of his goals. Against Lynch last week he had 20 possies and 10 marks over 3 and a bit quarters. I'm also convinced May is playing a bit injured like Max was early rounds when he could not jump. He doesnt look physically right but is still a massive presence for us down back. He's played 5 of the 8 games stop start style, so lets give him some continuity and see how he goes.
  20. That was a poor last 10 minutes but the umpiring in this game is an absolute disgrace. If we get within 40m of goal its an automatic free to the Weagles. First quarter we had their backmen cold dropping the ball, play on, for us Tholstrup and Pickett dropping the ball the latter an unbelievable decision. The non frees in front of goal and frees to them are to me cheating and not umpiring in the moment, I'm over it. add our poor kicking for goal and ridiculous unrealistic marking attempts forward and it is unwatchable.
  21. I think we are forgetting just how poor JVR was. that's ok but he needs to find form. I watched the ressies and the tiges had such low defensive pressure you could not put much store in the goals kicked up forward. however he did look confident kicking for goal in windy conditions and did look better leading up. but he needs to show this against decent opposition.
  22. Yes this make sense. Goodwin said he had Rivers back when Turner went down to add some height. Thing is Rivers found top form so probably didnt want to rush him into the midfield. He'll move in for Oliver. So Turner to half back taking their third tall, rivers to the middle, and Melksham and Fritter have to play as talls.
  23. Melksham was injured with a gash on his knee. as was Turner on concussion protocols. Thats why Fritsch was selected. Now with Melksham available your question is more valid if he stays in the side.
  24. Lindsay looks a beauty and reminds me of more damaging Simpson ex blues half back. Out of interest what are your questions marks on Langford and Kolt?. Kolt for me is being more that a half forward building possessions and Langford looks a beauty but not great acceleration despit good cruising speed.
