  1. Mach 5 has had far too many name changes but perhaps it's a good thing. We seem to be civil these days. Wasn't the case when 'Jose' was around. And Rhino, lols. That guy was insane.
  2. ^ Matthew Lloyd is bordering on *word I don't wish to use*. During his playing days, I once saw a news clip of Lloyd and another high profile player planting trees as part of a community project in an area of Melbourne. There was vision of Lloyd digging a hole with a spade... I have never in my life seen somebody with such limited coordination execute the action: dig, step and shovel. It was incredible. He was so confused. I'll never forget it. Never. As for his review of our season with that weasel, Lloyd completely contradicts himself by saying it's time for us to 'put up or shut up' and that we need to stop 'teasing' and that he is sick of us being so up and down. Yet at the end of the washup he predicts us to 'stagnate' next year, stating that we're 'not yet ready for finals which would be a major disappointment'. WTF is that sentence. Good one Matthew.
  3. Yep. Whilst we're at it, we should also go after Hunt from Richmond, Greenwood from North, Curnow from Carlton and Templeton of St Kilda.
  4. I don't disagree with any of what you've posted. But it's clear to me that the amount of criticism he receives from certain supporters means that they 'overrate' him. Whichever way you look at it. They think he should be doing things that he isn't at this stage of his development. Ps. Are you BenHur/ProDee/YzeMagic/RangeRover disguised under yet another avatar?
  5. Really, a bloke of his age and experience should be worth a late second round pick. During his best year that's what he would have been worth. I feel sick thinking about how guys like Garland and Dunn have been so far from what we've needed them to be as senior and experienced players. I now firmly associate them with that 'cursed group' who seem and seemed utterly incapable of changing the course of their own careers. Weak in the mind. I agree though with the OP in that a deal that would see Garland go to Brissy with a fourth round pick or something similar might see us receieve a second-rounder. I hope anyway. Would be good to get some early picks back for this draft/potential trades.
  6. If we see Garland traded this year, that has surely got to be the biggest fall from grace I've seen from any individual on the back of a three year extension deal. It's a real concern. Him and Dunn. I don't get it.
  7. Strongly agree. Cops way too much criticism and in my view it's because people genuinely overrate him. That's how I see it anyway.
  8. Not that this is the thread, but I just read that Daniel Wells is still OOC at North and whilst he is injury prone, I'd still take him over Lyons in a heart-beat. That's what we're after. Class, pace and skill. Would happily give him a one-two year deal as long as he passed a medical.
  9. (Lols. I enjoy the way you read it. So I'll keep it for now.) When I see these names thrown up, it makes me think we're still living in the Neeld/early Roos days. We've brought in Michie, Newton, Kennedy, Bugg as players who are role and hole fillers and still have Matt Jones, Terlich and Grimes on the list. Vandenberg and Harmes who seem to be regular 22 players and ANB and Trengove as depth atm who are kicking it at Casey. How many vanilla players who are all very similar in height and playing ability do we need? We don't need Lyons. He is another midfielder/half forward who again, doesn't add anything to our squad that we don't already have. Where and why do supporters believe there's a place for him on our list? It's weird. We need pace and foot-skills through the midfield if we're adding anyone to the mix in that area.
  10. BS. Dal Santo is the kind of player we would have targeted during the Neeld era. Which would have been a questionable call even back then. He is exactly the kind of player we don't need. A slow, soft and down-hill skiing midfielder. Yuck. Cannot and will not for the life of me believe the rumour.
  11. Almost 'poster ban worthy' this thread. Sorry WTM.
  12. For some reason I could never imagine reading this from you if Jamar was in a Melbourne jumper...
  13. Pretty simples isn't it? Spencer signed as pure insurance incase Gawn went down. He got a one year contract. One year. That fact confirms to me that the club are looking at bringing in someone who actually possesses the ability to play forward and perhaps in tandem with Max. The discussion as to whether or not Spencer is 'valuable' or not is not a discussion worth having. It should be whether or not we can bring someone in who can provide more than what Spencer has been able to provide (which is not a lot). All we should be looking at is how and where we can improve our list. In my view, I think we need to find someone who can play as an effective forward and who can genuinely support Max Gawn. For a couple of reasons. To prolong Max's career and to add potency to our side. And it really won't be that hard to find someone who isn't a star but who unlike Spencer, can play that role well. The only reason we haven't is because we've had way too many other things to fix that have been prioritised. List building takes time. Especially when you've come from where we have.
  14. I'm not saying it has to be a first rounder. All I'm saying is we should seek to improve our position. If our second-rounder goes to Essendon for Hibberd, I can see us working some sort of magic to get ourselves back into the second round. There are many possibilities. We'll wait and see.
  15. He ain't Mitchell-esque dual-sided. But he is a better non-preferred than Tyson or Kent.
  16. He has been shifted around and used in a variety of roles but he is a natural midfielder/half-forward. He is gun. Just incredibly injury prone. What is your definition of one-sided? From what I've seen he is very dual-sided. Can kick very well on both sides.
  17. Next years (2017) first round pick. The AFL introduced trading 'future picks' last year.
  18. Would love him. Would be huge for us. 2017 first rounder?
  19. Whilst I agree in premise, Geelong were not in competition with a super-power club from Sydney full of disgusting talent. And I'm seriously scared of what they will look like in a few years when we are playing finals.
