  1. I agree we basically have two key elements 1 The rolling maul of inside mids - our ability on the inside means that with enough pressure and freeing of arms and a variety of handballs we can move the ball from a contest / congestion situation to an outside runner - when we spread leading to 2. 2 Getting in behind the defence - from the line of the last defender in the press, players like Garlett, Hannan, but also gut runners including hogan watts ANB etc. we run towards goals and the kicker basically kicks beyond the last line of defence This form of attack doesn't rely on a lead up forward or a bear in the square or precision entry - although all of those modes can and are used as well as the Both these key elements dont need talls and we should recall that in a period without spencer, hogan and gawn we have had success. If watts and hogan come in then which talls go out? On last night Salem is out injured - Melksham might go back for salem but after that it looks like a small goes for a big.
  2. He had some key touches at the end but this wasn't a good game for Lewis. He wasnt the only one down yesterday but we win nevertheless. He is mostly an outside mid who sits off the play while the Olivers, Tysons and Vineys get it out.He then distributes. He is also that spare man sometimes at half back. His link kicking / handball is pretty good but his ability to impact enough contests is limited - by speed and endurance relative to younger players. I get his "leadership" and structuring (? - getting the zone in place I suppose) but wonder what we give up for that element that can be provided by other leaders and players.
  3. Oh he is playing 50 m for the eagles lead Great leadership
  4. Is lewis playing His leadership is soooo important
  5. Watch fritsch - potential I thought Spencer was very meh just ordinary Kennedy jkh busy and relentless Kielty and weids nice hands
  6. Cory maynard for jones Gawn for watts Goody has shown a preparedness to roll the dice with Hannan
  7. Ive got - Achilles tendonitis It is an overwork / overuse condition so I dont understand that "rest" is the opposite of what is required.
  8. I reckon there are questions on the progression of weideman hullett and Smith So I want some extra fwd tall talent Im less in favour of a fwd / ruck type given our recent form with no ruck I dont want a swingman they need to be native fwds
  9. He will be rusty surely? I want him in but want appropriate expectations.
  10. I agree As for a stock is he "fully valued"? Is he low risk low return relative to price?unless he has potential the market doesnt see he is no bargain. Who are the diamonds in the rough? Who is undervalued? Who is worth more playing within our side?
  11. Let me be the first to take credit for the anticipated awesome display of JL agin the bullies - showing leadership providing "structure" and dominating stats. My critique of his last game was clearly the stimulus for his (hopefully) improved performance. If his performance doesnt improve then my critique stands. I think my bases are covered.
  12. I agree he looked very tentative in the last quarter tapping the ball fwd rather than picking it up
  13. Fair point I dobt even know how tall lever is Carlisle is at the height 196 is more common My point is the future is taller
  14. Here here well said 194cm is a midfielder soon if not now
  15. I thought Spencer was pretty underwhelming against Collingwood vfl What did others make of his game? I made the point that not playing a ruck has flow on impacts to other positions so on that basis gawn or spencil makes sense and maybe last week spencer was tentative after injury
  16. Agreed - I may have been tired and emotional but I read into what I saw in this game - half 1 vs the suns and against the Hawks which had me questioning his future. Like many here on his signing I might have anticipated his form back a few years playing in a dominant side.
  17. When people resort to personal abuse you know they are losing an argument Try to be civil
  18. Thanks - I hope we are hard headed when appropriate. One or two bad games is not my point but hopefully nobody is untouchable.
