  1. Woewodin accelerated my hair loss by a few years. Own up people, who else bleached their hair that year? #22
  2. It was on the cards the moment Richmond lost to Brisbane. If the Tigers had of won, we'd have Bris v StK to face Port. And Geel/WCE/Coll/Rich all in their own filthy group. I don't think I'll watch the GF. Bugger it
  3. Life is a let down, get used to it. The underdog victory, by it's nature is a rare phenomena! I seriously thought Brisbane beating Richmond 2 weeks ago was bad news, it opened the door for a Rich v Geel GF. If Rich won the QF, we'd have a Port v Bris Prelim, and 1 of them in the GF. Back in 2015, the WCE QF win over Hawthorn was wildly celebrated as their demise, they of course came back n won the premiership. However, that WCE QF win robbed us of 2 very good prelim matchups: Freo v WCE & Haw v North. North were a great matchup for Hawthorn, and seemed to have physically matched up with them well at the time, beating them once or twice. And a Derby prelim, nothing more to be said. So beware the qualifying finals.
  4. We should ask for their 2021 2nd back instead of 3rd. It will be pick 19 and then it's up them to have a gamble on wherever we finish, which could be anywhere between and 7-15 realistically. Higher stakes trade.
  5. If years count for leadership, then he makes Melksham redundant, and we can add another zippy small forward at their feet. Should be 1 of the checkboxes on our Free Agency/Trade Week to-do list!
  6. Read that as tantrum, still works!
  7. Pole Position... ? https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/10/11/the-victorian-club-who-is-now-most-interested-in-ben-brown/
  8. Its just as much about supporting a partner through a major medical operation that carries with it very real risks of complication, as it is about simply meeting your 3rd kid.
  9. Is Mahoney really going to take a hard-line approach though, because they don't want him there and have backed themselves into a corner, which came about through contract negotiations and rebuilding, rather than anything attitude based? I see him taking more of a diplomatic win/win for both parties approach that would see him aiming to get that 23 down to something equating 15-18 to satisfy both parties, be it through pick swaps or a player. Maybe it's splitting hairs anyway. I just hope it gets done. And my above suggestion would ideally be a swap of pick 23 & 18 for 19, 40, BB and a premiership, with them gambling on us and losing.
  10. NM will not accept 23. Please try again.
  11. I like the idea of swapping our future first for their future 2nd. They can death ride us for a top 10 pick, we are aiming to make it pick 14-18 for what will assuredly be pick 19. Then you add our 23 in so they're at least getting a minimum pick 15-20 and satisfying their desire for an outright 1st. We might want a 3rd rounder back though for this year's draft. Out: 2020 pick 23 2021 Pick 1-18 In: Ben Brown 2020 pick 40 (Or whatever it is) 2021 pick 19-36
  12. Err, we too have an exciting brand, are a few tweaks away, some new recruits and another year of development from competing, just like Carlton. Never said we weren't. The reference to Teague being approachable and friendly, and the players developing a good connection with him and his vision, is the major selling point by contrast. Teague doesn't come with the baggage of 17th and 9th AFTER making a prelim. IE he's not 4 years into a stint, under major review and have his job very much on the line like Goodwin. Harder and harder to sell hope as each year of failure passes. I thought you might be been clever enough to figure that out without jumping down my throat and sooking about me not pumping up the MFC like I did Carlton. It's obvious we have great unrealised potential as well.
  13. The cynic in me might say it's purely money. However the way they played v Port shows they have an exciting brand that just needs a few tweaks, another year of development and some new recruits, like the Saints have shown. However don't underestimate Teague. Like Fagan, he comes across as a very approachable and naturally friendly person. Players might simply have developed a good connection in an interview not only with him, but with the vision he's sold them?
  14. Freo would be getting a 25 year old version of Fyfe, Carl replace Cripps with a younger version, and the MFC avoid the dreaded collection of pick 5-10s, and get an established gun of the competition for 3-5 years and a pick 8 or so for a decent kid. Not sure what better the club could do? Throw in Hogan? If it's picks, then Pick 8, future 8 and 22. Meh. Give me Fyfe for a few years and we might just have a premiership window that opens up for a few years. (With other obvious list improvements)
  15. Cripps to Freo Fyfe & Freo 1st rnd pick Melb Oliver to Carl Ross Lyon MFC head Coach Imagine that absolute madness.
  16. Fair enough. I forgot about preseason games, silly me. I wonder if the AFL will bother though next year, might not be worth any clubs going interstate, they might just have a couple of scratch matches or intraclub stuff. not sure if it's enought to work out the best forward dynamic.
  17. How does McD return to form before that question is answered? If we get Brown, he and our starting lineup from mid last year, start in the firsts (Weid+Jacko) McD is in the 2nds, improving his game and waiting for an opportunity through form or injury.
  18. Charlie Curnow
  19. Jesse Hogan.. the 2015 Inflating Star!
  20. I recall Troy Chaplin leaving on bad terms too? Maybe Port were onto something.
  21. I loved this Max fox footy graphic so much that I had to pause and rewind repeatedly to catch it in the split second. Seems an apt response here ?
  22. Greenwood tagged Kelly out of the game last night. It's a useful hand to have up your sleeve come finals time. Not out of date at all.
  23. De Goey winning the Norm Smith with a bag of 5 and fronting court on rape charges the following Monday. A truelly awful finale to season 2020.
  24. What if the team dynamics improve to such a degree that lesser players elevate themselves and become established... IE Bring in a KPF forward with a Brayshaw pick and suddenly small forwards and half forwards improve. Kick more goals from lesser entries and your inside mids get more of a centre square look in with some momentum and less fatigue. Take into account the flow on effects of getting the right trade in. Who knows, Someone like Sparrow, Harmes or someone else could instantly replace Brayshaw with a team playing well. Wouldn't we like to find more suprise packets from our list or draft recruits? It only comes about through opportunity. Plenty of late picks or rookies throughout the AFL have elevated and established themselves. How stale if we had the same midfield in 3 years time. Can guarantee we'll be in the same place on the ladder, age development or not. Maybe the club has its eye on a freo first round pick and knows with absolute certainty that the midfielder they have their eye on, will out perform Brayshaws '2019-20 output immediately, and have a higher ceiling than Brayshaws 2018 in 3 years time. Could be a bigger sunk cost fallacy risk to persist with Brayshaw.
