cos that would've been reaaaaally lame.. they should've got the remaining members of the doors (probably only one left now, on keyboards) to play an extended version of 'the end'.

jade gresham went alright this year?.. don't think saints would take him.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Constant Mongrel replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
the only reason would be $ mate.. he probably wanted to see how the dees were going to polish up throughout the year. and despite the last two games, i reckon he'd be pretty happy with what he saw. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Constant Mongrel replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
i guess it was the frustration of trawling through page after page of the same drivel. i feel that office boredom probably causes the majority of it.. if we were all in a pub with a pint, i'm pretty sure none of us would rabbit on with all the tripe that we dish up here.... we'd be like, 'as if he'd leave! he'll win a flag with his mates in a few years!!". my dissing of the forum's vibe wasn't my main intention with that post. just setting the scene yo. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Constant Mongrel replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
this forum seems to encourage the most extreme of responses (in inane detail), which means that contributors either a) freak out, b) diminish achievements/facts, or c) blow achievements/facts waaaay outta proportion, but can i suggest that we view the intrigue surrounding hogan's contract logically? i hope that most on here would agree that hogan is a competitive beast. he has also clearly adjusted to life in melbourne (with the help of an understanding club, fairly regularly trips home, etc). melbourne is where the biggest stars shine, where you get the chance to play on the best aussie rules ground in the world regularly. jesse has developed friendships for nearly half a decade whilst at our club. he has seen the bottom and now he's getting a glimpses of the top. in recent years, he has been joined by a lengthy list of up and coming stars (perhaps headed by the likes of viney, petracca and oliver). it is clear where the dees are headed - not so clear where the w.a. teams are going.. yes, he is a west australian, but do you really think this competitive beast, who now calls melbourne home, is surrounded by close mates that share his life experiences, in a club on the up, would throw that all away to go surfing a bit more, play in a team that could *maybe* contend semi-regularly for finals over the next ten years??! the only issue is the health of jesse's dad. any other argument is null and void. he would clearly want to stay a dee (our future is blinding), but his concern over his dad would be the only issue that could move him back to the west at this stage of his career. i believe that jesse hogan will stay. and i hope wish his dad the best in whatever health problems he is going through currently. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Constant Mongrel replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
coming from someone who was quite disappointed at the recruitment of melksham, i was pleasantly surprised, after oberving his demeanour and skills at a few of the 2015 training sessions late last year (prior to his ban). in particular, i was really impressed with his crispness, speed and excitement during drills. fingers crossed his signing results in a big win for the dees. i also hope he keeps his attitude in check and matures into a likeable guy. -

i really hope that jesse stays, he's a special player (despite the dismissive attitude that some posters have towards his talent and personality). i agree with the sentiment that the relationship he has with his dad is paramount and surpasses any allegiance that he has to the dees. as such, i wouldn't have any negative feelings towards him for leaving, but i would be pretty upset. after having a kick to kick with him when the new branding was launched last november, he seems like a really good kid. very young, but a positive and competitive guy. i sure as hell wouldn't want to make the tough decision that is in front of him right now... whatever happens, we will either have a serious piece of our team signed up or a few round one draft picks and a good player to come in and balance the ledger. -
has the above video been sped up? i agree, totally different player these days.

i just had a quick look at the bomber forum *shudder* and there was a suggestion of salem and our second rd pick for hibberd. LOL. another suggestion was combining our second rd pick and grimes/trengove to get a pick in the early 20's (for hibberd). what a shite way to send out an ex-captain. i'd rather go without hibberd entirely. hope we stand firm.

AFL 2016 NATIONAL DRAFT ORDER
Constant Mongrel replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
if we can somehow land a top 15 pick i'll be blown away. can't wait to see how it all unfolds. still not completely sure how the academy/draft/points system works, but have a vague idea and am happy to understand the general vibe.. -
Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination
Constant Mongrel replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
he's excellent at spoiling when he is giving away quite a lot of height to opposition players too.. just a really good player. came outta nowhere. stoked. and that post-game interview robbo did with him just showed he's a good kid and understands footy. fingers crossed he has a good off-season and an uninterrupted 2017/rest of his career. who cares if he gets a nomination (although it is clearly ridiculous he hasn't). he's already one of our most dangerous weapons! -
Could Jack Watts become our next captain?
Constant Mongrel replied to MrBurns's topic in Melbourne Demons
i'd be surprised if tyson ever got the captaincy/vice captaincy role. he's classy and a smooth mover, but doesn't exactly get his hands dirty and 'lead by example'.. i think our leader should have a fair bit of aggression. tyson has no aggression. he's gonna be a very good player though, if he can maintain his current output. -
handballing has a place in the game, but not in a wet game and not the way it was done yesterday.. we have some very clever players that can get us out of tight situations with the handball (oliver obviously being the best at it), but they need to pick when to use it better. in the wet and against a team that is smashing us in the contested possesions. no. not the place.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 22
Constant Mongrel replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
i thought the same thing.. i went along to training this morning, but missed the first half hour or so.. arrived just to see ben ken leaving the paddock. salem trained well and looked crisp. not really a small forward option though. -
Lumumba placed on long-term injury list
Constant Mongrel replied to juzzk1d's topic in Melbourne Demons
definitely an eccentric character and seemingly well liked team-mate (despite all the noise). i hope he's ok. i am sure the football department will be on top of this, so i don't think there's much to be concerned about from MFC's perspective. it'll all play out in due time. hunt has his number now no doubt, can't really see him breaking back into the team again. but if he has a long holiday and good preseason, maybe he'll be full of vigour and drive next year - who knows? -
salem is definitely tradable.. talking about o'meara not being able to get on the field - how about christian! stretch, tyson, hunt should be off limits though..
-
haven't seen much of hamish, but it'd be a good story if we somehow nabbed him in this year's draft
-
can't see them trading ANB - too much potential in my opinion. i'd rather not get hibberd than lose him. we need depth in the midfield and ANB gives us that. just hope he works on kicking a few goals to add that extra dimension.. surely our second rd pick would be enough for hibberd. especially considering the dodgy circumstances that bring about his leaving. can't see us getting hurley. too many dons might spoil the broth! still be nice to get a top flight mid (tom mitchell, prestia, brad crouch, etc).. however, it's the first year that i haven't been too concerned with filling gaps. we have a side that can beat hawthorn and nearly beat roos, crows... just need to get games into the youth and snag a solid player or two i reckon.

The combined Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia Thread
Constant Mongrel replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
if the prestia-richmond rumour turns out to be true, that will be a surprise. who in their right mind would go there?! the tiges haven't won a flag in decades and don't look to be getting any closer. apart from the cash-moniez, why would a young, talented player join a club with no real future?! i mean, does he like their song, is that why?! admittedly, it is quite good. -
i heard the ox on sen on sunday morning and he was going on about how good the dees were.. definitely an over the top kinda commentator. he gets paid to be bombastic, not to analyse footy too intensely.
-
good point. surprisingly, i hadn't thought about that, ha
-
i have a feeling we will get the next two games and quite possibly get up to win a super close one in geelong, to finish on a roll with 5/5..but we'll probably miss out on the 8 due to %. it's so hard not to think about our loss to essendon earlier this year, out of all the losses, that's the one that hurt the most.

such an exciting player. love seeing him line up guys.. especially when they're wearing that yellow and brown jumper. i was cackling in the stands as he smashed blokes yesterday. and loved how he got up quick after that rioli hit and got to one knee...composing himself and then back to the middle to step it up. so good!!!
