  1. Only if Watts has goal kicking coach written into his contract also.
  2. Sorta agree. Can't recall him making one mistake. He didn't get more of it because we were slaughtered in the middle.
  3. 6 - Gawn 5- Jones 4 - Jetta 3 - Hunt No other votes deserved for 2 and 1
  4. He was our best midfielder today. Did you accidentally watch the Hawks V Brisbane game instead?
  5. Kent was a liability. Worst on ground by far.
  6. Worst we've played all year - including the Essendon game. I hope the club ceases this sponsorship deal with NT tourism. Giving up certain home game wins (Port have a terrible record against us at the MCG) will never get us far up the ladder. Special mention to: Kent - Selfish goal hog who can only kick on one side Tyson - Didn't even make the plane trip O.Mac - Has no actual AFL skills and has no balance Harmes - Needs to go back to VFL - only survives via some cameos Kennedy - got stuck in the terminal like Tyson
  7. I think Watts has really started to run hard and make space for himself over the last few weeks which is something I can't recall he has done often which is perhaps why it has become really noticeable all of a sudden. I believe his endurance has always been a bit of a problem. But now after his pre-season, he can really get the miles in. In regards to being burnt by his team mates, perhaps part of the problem is some of the players don't believe they have the skill to pull-off the pass. The Hogan one for example, although Watts was completely free, Hogan had been running 50-60m full of steam and to kick an accurate kick down Watts' throat may have been a bit too much for him which is why he opted for the handball.
  8. Carlton have had a very easy block of games there: Freo - 18th Esssndon - 17th Collingwood - 12th (were 2 and 5 going into it) Port Adelaide - 10th and that's flattering for them and at Ethiad The Carlton Premiership dream will end this weekend.
  9. Thought he had good energy all game, but his leads often weren't honoured in the first half. Played a very good second half (apart from that dropped mark howler). His kicks to Hogan and his set shots are top class. Any chance he can teach Hogan how to kick?
  10. Hogan? Really? 6. Viney - our best and a tackling machine 5. Tyson - one of his better games 4. Jetta - shining light in defence 3. Watts - probably our best forward and second half was huge (apart from the dropped mark) 2. Kennedy - did a few nice things 1. Stretch - Good on the wing apologies to Tmac, thought he was pretty solid and clunked a few grabs.
  11. I don't think we'll beat the Saints until Riewoldt retires.
  12. But surely the poor defensive structure has to take part of the blame. The no. Of times they got out the back was ludicrous.
  13. Third week in a row I'm feeling pretty confident about the game, and the third week in a row I've posted on the game day thread expressing such. Thus, I'm considering this my good luck charm! But in all seriousness, beat them earlier in the NAB challenge and I think we'll out score them heavily today.
  14. I'd love for Roosy to stay at Melbourne in some capacity next year. However, if we somehow make the finals this year, everyone in the footballing community will be calling him a genius and will be targeted by the next struggling club to take over and emulate the same thing (e.g. Perhaps Richmond).
  15. His NAB challenge was anything but composed. Complete turn around.
  16. Pretty confident about tonight. Deledio will be ineffectual, and the Tigers hand balling game plan will get them into trouble tonight with our manic pressure. Hogan and Watts to dominate up forward, while Gawn, Vince and Jones to get on top of the Richmond midfield. Also, can't see the Tigers scoring much unless Jack Riewoldt absolutely kills Tmac which is unlikely. Dees to win by 40pts and to throw more pressure on Hardwick.
  17. Such a great combo. i think Watts is actually better as a deep forward if we have good ball movement as he tends to be able to get more of a gap between him and his defender on the lead. Hogan is still supreme on the one-on-one and has a bigger tank than Watts so he's also great up the ground.
  18. I think everyone fears the old Melbourne will show up today. It's statements like this that help alleviate this fear. Only time will tell though... Watts said there were some “murmurings” that his side’s round two loss to Essendon at the MCG was “the same old Melbourne”. But he insisted the red and blue was now a far different line-up to previous seasons. “We knew that we’re a completely different team and last weekend [against North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena] just assured us of that,” he told Melbourne TV. http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-04-16/club-has-such-a-positive-future-watts
  19. Pretty confident with Today's game. I watched the pies last week, and they were dead set woeful. If Melbourne can nail it's forward press and contain the pies forward line - we should run out as 5 goal winners. Also, even though Melbourne were terrible against Essendon, Essendon aren't that bad of a side at the MCG. The main difference between the Cats game and our game was that Danniher dominated. I'd be picking the Dons next week over Collingwood if the pies lose today (which I think they will), and maybe still if they did win.
  20. Fair to say the Bombers play the MCG pretty well. Really taking it up to Geelong.
  21. Link is here http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-late-mail-round-4-melbourne-livewire-jeff-garlett-in-doubt-for-sundays-clash-against-collingwood/news-story/12811d6af8f4f1fd5c26266827ab356e I think Watts has had that leg strapped since rnd 1 for the corky - during training and during the week (saw it strapped in a Twitter photo mid week at some social event). Don't think it's anything to worry about.
