  1. Maybe so, but what if he costs a 2nd rounder and the only other options you have to help Hogan are Dawes & Pedersen? Makes the decision pretty easy in my eyes.
  2. Again -- that is what we TOLD Quayle. If I was in TV or JM's position, I'd tell her all sorts of porkies. No incentive to give away your secrets to a journo.
  3. Melksham for 25 or 29 - does it matter if we still trade the remaining pick out and achieve what we set out to? Same as receiving picks 29 & 50 along with Kennedy for Howe & Toumpas. I'd suggest many would be calling it a win if we acquired picks 21 & 32 along with Kennedy, but what does it matter if we still would have trade those picks out & achieved that same net result? Wait until the period is over and then judge.
  4. I agree. I don't think we have any designs on keeping this pick anyway, so it's a moot point.
  5. I have to question what the hold up is with formally announcing the finalised deal, especially the picks. Surely there is some sticking point, and I'm willing to bet it is us. All other teams will be happy with their outcome - if we walk away all of this falls apart. There will be twisting of arms and greasing of palms to get this over the line, but it is clearly not finalised with all parties happy. How could you even manage to get 4 teams into the one room and coming to agreement on a deal like this? I think some have jumped the gun or tried to call it early while it suits them.
  6. I'm yet to see this deal confirmed, so not sure why all the meltdowns...
  7. If the deal is dragging out, it will be us dragging out because the others are trying to fleece us...
  8. But hopefully it doesn't adversely impact on our efforts. It'd be a shame to lose Howe and/or Toumpas to the PSD or for little because hasty alternative plans have to be made.
  9. Jansen? Yuk. Geelong happy to give up on him, because while a good size, they have put a lot of work into his kicking and not seen any improvement. Couldn't hit water from a boat.
  10. And the fact he was on a undersized forward flanker who was a great contested mark. Nobody foresaw him becoming a dominant mid, not even Freo.
  11. I hate to say it, but that is already an improvement without any additional picks we will receive.
  12. I just wish we had have used pick 1 & 2 on Scully & Butcher back in 2009. Then our midfield and our forward line would have been sorted for the next decade.
  13. Yeah, nah. You're using the term "legitimate" very loosely there.
  14. Don't have one; it's not really possible. You could have some sort of points system like the one you're using and a coefficient based on the perceived strength of the particular draft in question, but it would still be a flat number, not allowing for things like a sublimely talented top 10, but little depth beyond that. It will always be imperfect, so trying to apply any points system is inaccurate and a very rough guide at best. Trying to say pick 43 & pick 21 is equivalent to pick 11 will never work, unless a team is willing to accept that deal because of the players that will be available to them, or what they can do with those assets to get another deal done. Their value is determined by the market, not by a points system.
  15. But will also need to conduct a fire sale to make room on their list for the new players. I'd be going all out to trump Carlton for the better discards (Bugg, Plowman, Tomlinson)
  16. I'm yet to see what Port will give up, that will both be enough to acquire Toumpas AND further equip them to trade for Dixon. Young? Moore? Not mentioned, but meh anyway.
  17. No more or less ridiculous is true, as all the proposals are flat out ridiculous. I don't know why anyone wastes their time & energy personally.
  18. And had no control over the decisions made, and removed themselves from that environment shortly thereafter... Unless you're referring to Melksham, who again had no control over it, and again removed himself at the earliest opportunity.
  19. No, not by strict definition, but it may as well be.
  20. If there is no assumption, you'd have to think both Hawthorn & St Kilda have been incredibly negligent in their offers for Carlisle.
  21. Funnily enough, like I said, a few days.
