  1. Just as bad, is when there is a couple of switch kicks to get the ball on the opposite HBF/wing/HFF, nothing opens up, so there's anothr switch kick or 2 in the opposite direction, leading to cries of "now we're back where we started!" Happened on Saturday against Hawthorn at least once. What these luminaries fail to realise, is that by moving from one side of the other, the defenders are forced to adjust their structures and the hope is that weak links leave holes. Going back the other way allows a second chance for gaps to open up. Lo and behold, they did, and I believe we kicked a goal as a result of this movement (or at least found a target further afield).
  2. Surely we'd want them to throw in the ghost of Travis Cloke also?
  3. Well done Sherlock, connected the dots did you?
  4. This. I have been waiting for this match-up with bated breath.
  5. The young man nominated by Joel Selwood as the hardest and most relentless he has ever played against.
  6. Dont underestimate the chaos ball into the forward 50. It can be a very effective weapon! ...but yeah, he fluffed it majorly and we were lucky with the result in that instance.
  7. The team. It's great to have him as a bail-out option when going forward, but I think it has lead to laziness and just bombing it to him at times when other options are available, or should be, but other players haven't worked as hard because they know he's there or they know they'll get ignored. Not sure why you'd be putting the blame on Hogan himself. He's not the finished article, but he's a great deal better than Pedersen. Don't do the Scully thing where you turn the kid into a pariah ahead of time in case he leaves...
  8. I think it showed that we can be too Hogan-centric when he is there, and he needs to be treated by the group at just another link in the chain or another option to use if it presents. And he will just be one that excels more often than not when he does get used.
  9. Hit Pedersen perfectly, what are you talking about?
  10. Upset? Rightio. Just warning others to be more cautious... Anyway, I did hear this, but the way it was presented was not an accident. And as a postscript: nothing can be really confirmed until it actually happens, and any half-decent source would know not to present anything in absolute terms until it happens either. Things change very quickly, assurances be damned. For instance, Geelong were certain Frawley was theirs 2 years ago, until Hawthorn went all-in with a couple of weeks to go before the FA period. All communication with Geelong dropped off with no warning. Excuses for why James wasn't available were made for a week or so. Later on, leaked intel about Geelong's poor finances was raised as a concern before it had become public, but they were never actually advised of a change of heart & knew nothing until his signing was announced at the Hawks.
  11. I can confirm, I have today been told by a reliable source within the club prior to the match that Tom has indicated he will sign on to stay within the next month. Finer details still to be worked out, and it will be for less than he could have got elsewhere, but he believes in the direction of the club and wants to stay here with his brother and mates. Fantastic news.
  12. What would that be interesting? A false "confirmation" that what is likely to happen will happen in an exceptionally vague timeframe? If he can give us some real news, I'd love to hear it too.
  13. What? Couldn't give a crap about me being able to add anything. It's just the annoyance as a thread is derailed by clearly falsified information, taken seriously by far too many. A little more caution in what you believe would not be misplaced. And yes, fawning. Do you serious think there isn't any? Maybe not from yourself, but do you really want me to go back through & quote examples?
  14. They were one of the front runners for Dangerfield last year too, I recall. Hawks are just the easy one to spruik, because it's believable.
  15. I'm not necessarily advocating all the perceived angst, but I also find it frustrating to see discussion which I'd normally enjoy derailed by offerings with such little substance. Not to mention the fawning... It is sickening, monotonous and terribly obtuse. But each to their own.
  16. Having access to some great mail from other clubs myself, I find it strange that he only posts things like this recent "confirmation" where it's generally expected and/or easily explainable if it doesn't eventuate, not to mention exceptionally vague (next 6 months?!). Yet, he doesn't seem to get mail on things like Weideman's first match, or feel like sharing something that he could have known with certainty, justifying any credit he is given for having inside knowledge. That, and some info I passed on, then seeing the result of that, plus all the mayo he added onto it later.

  18. I'm happy for Oliver to continue getting 35+ possessions at VFL level as he irons out his weaknesses/deficiencies while there. I don't want our young players learning that being good at one or a few things means you can get a game without having to be a rounded player that does the hard things too. No room in this side for any more Jordan Gysberts...
  19. FYI Tom Lynch is the best player in the AFL at the moment.
