  1. He didn't say that all Saty.. i dont speak for him but i agree that at the moment we are still all too reliant on Nathan Jones as our go to man and someone who is just going to win us games. We are NOT going to be playing finals if that is still the case. For us to become a good finals team we need the likes of Viney Brayshaw Tyson and Salem over the next few 'years' to really step up to the point where they are getting hard tags instead of Jones. Remember Shane Crawford? For some many years he was always their number 1 midfielder during those first couple of years of Clarkson era. He was the inspirational skipper that was always getting the number 1 tag and Towards the end of his career in fact 2008, Hawthorn had a good spread of up and coming A graders in Mitchell Hodge Lewis that they were able to take more control of the midfield leaving Crawford to play more on a half forward and rotating off the bench and still able to make a contribution. This is the dream scenario for me in 3 years time when we are playing finals that Tyson Viney Brayshaw Oliver Salem and Petracca will be all borderline A graders and starting on ball line up that they are able to push Jones out to playing more up forward rotating off the bench and still having an influence exactly like Crawford did.
  2. If training form gets you a spot in our round 1 side then Terlich, Matt Jones and Jack Grimes will be playing.. I do not want that.
  3. Don't want to turn this into a [censored] sling contest but if Paul Roos can continue to play Nathan Jones with a busted neck all year then I'm pretty sure he will be in his round 1 side regardless of he is 80% fit.. Look at our round 1 side last year. We had a very healthy list and we still played Kent Vanden Brayshaw who all had interrupted pre season's and had to play couple of games at Casey first.
  4. I also don't buy into the theory that tackle stuffed him up psychologicaly. But when i was living in Melbourne at the time i went to a few Casey games and he clearly was not ready at all. He had steady form in the VFL but had not banged down the door like say what Brayshaw did last year, even Watts said with an interview with Mike Sheehan that he wasn't ready. The fact that Watts debuted on national prime time in front of 60 thousand being scrutinized wouldn't have helped one bit. Its quite obvious that it was a club marquee decision to debut him when his mind and body wasn't ready. Has that had a psychological affect on him? Who knows but personally i dont use that excuse when he goes half ass at contest or doesn't chase hard enough. He is old enough now to pull his finger out and actually prove why he was a number 1 pick.
  5. Another Paul Roos typical solider who i completely forgot. So underated but he thrived at the swans.
  6. Anyways lets get back to Clayton Oliver who i am genuinely excited to see play this year. Will be very interesting to see if Roosy does a 'Brayshaw' with him see how he goes at VFL level first. Going by the training reports seem to be really impressing so far!
  7. Not washed up but i dont think he would have been in the Giants best 22 in 2014 and had the impact he did with us if he had stayed.
  8. And that 1 year was enough for me to say he will have a good career for the Dees. Even though he played injured all year last year he still showed his ball winning ability and midfield class. Lets not forget still only 21. I have no doubt Paul Roos has been a big factor in his career so far.
  9. I would. No way would he have had the season that he did in 2014 if he was at the Giants. With our depleted midfield depth he was able to come in and show the potential he had. 2nd in the best fairest, 11 brownlow votes with 522 disposals and kicking 16.6 as a midfielder. I expect him to go to another level this year and get back to his best again.
  10. And Dayle Garlett got a perfect psychological score. Go figure.
  11. These are the careers that Roos has turned around from when they are on the outter or just fringe player. Ted Richards Ben Mcglyn Josh Kennedy Rhys Shaw Shane Mumford Darren Jolly Nick Davis Bernie Vince Jeff Garlett Dom Tyson That is a pretty good track record. If there are any i have missed please feel free to add more.
  12. Agreed I too didn't rate Melksham and was disappointed what we gave up for him. With whats just happened to him i am even more frustrated now. Bugg is your true blue Paul Roos footballer. He will play a big role for this footy club and someone who will do his job week in and week out and probably don't get the kudos he deserves. Think of Nick Smith from the sydney swans. An All Australian back pocket. But no one would know that. Love this pick. Kennedy i am wrapt with. His under 18 days was damaging and he absolutely dominated. Roosy is a massive fan going by his reports and with the Sub now gone can't wait to actually see him play 4 qtr games. Will add some seriousleg speed to our side and can't wait for him and Kent to start buzzing around our half forward line.
  13. Jones has always been a strong runner right from his Triathlon days back when he was playing TAC cup. I think they want to improve his running to really push him to the next level which is great. Even if he hadn't Jones would still get a game regardless. He is an absolute inspirational and courageous captainthat there is no way Paul Roos wouldn't select him based that he couldn't improve his already strong running endurance.
  14. Hopefully Sam picks up his Pa's genes and stacks on some serious muscle sooner then later.
  15. Yep, always had the talent just body let him down constantly. Good on Roosy for making him work hard for his spot last year. Gawn has been on record that he didn't take his round 1 omission last year very good. Probably sulked a bit too much and was made to earn it. Now he is talked up as potentially one of the top 4 ruckman in the comp. This is the kind of development that has Brendan Mcartney written all over it.
  16. The reports have been exciting to read of late but one thats really starting to makes my ears [censored] is Big Gawny attacking the pre season with an aggressive mindset and work ethic. Could see this bloke really tear the competition apart with his height and marking ability and shoot himself into All Australian within the next couple of year. Also if you want further proof go and watch the latest inside the camp video and they have recorded Paul Roos wrapping up a training session and he goes on by saying that he will make a big statement and he mentions his never one to make big statements, but throughout his journey he has never seen a ruckman train as hard as what Max did. He then awards Gawny with the 'Paul Roos man of the week' by handing him $100. Just a bit of loose change in old Roosy's wallet lol.. In all seriousness though that is a massive endorsement from Roosy to Gawn. But also shows the hard work and dedication he has put in to get to where he is at the moment. Full credit to big Gawn too. Looking forward to a ripping season ahead for Maximus!
  17. Ok...? You just mentioned before Trengove doesn't deserve any success because 'he' shouldn't have played with a crook foot. So you have pretty much said there that Trengove is in the wrong for making that decision. You have now just said it was a 'political' decision (by the club i assume you mean) to play him because the club tanked for him.. right.. So whos fault is it then SWYL? Because according to you Trengove doesn't deserve one ounce of success due to a clubs ' political' decision to play him through his injury. So in other words the poor kid had no say whatsoever and is now paying the price for a miss handled injury by our club and for forcing him to push through his injury.
  18. You sure about that? Take a deep breath and think real hard about your answer before you really embarrass yourself again like you already have.
  19. Keep a look out for Will Brodie from the bushies. An absolute gun junior who has dominated every level he has played at. Tall midfielder who i expect to dominate again this year.
  20. Harsh. He was put in an unfamiliar spot to lead this club when he was far too young. The stress and pressure he put himself to try and lead this toxic club has now now taken its toll on him (something he couldn't control) and now he is working is absolute backside off to regain his football career. He deserves every bit of success and good fortune that comes his way. He along with Jones Garland Grimes and Dunn are small sample of players still left who were went through the absolute horrors of the club during those dark years. For their loyalty and love for the club they do deserves success.
  21. Was reading Burgos diaries and it seems like it was one of the hardest sessions the players have every done. Also he mentioned that Billy Stretch Jack Grimes and Matt Jones came 1st 2nd and 3rd in the kilometers covered throughout the 3 hour sessions. Thats very impressive by Stretch! We really have lacked the outside gut runner willing to run both ways and spread hard for years. Good to see Grimes really push himself as well, he definitely is putting himself in contention. I wonder if he would make a good tagger? And if only Jones could improve on his disposal and decision because we could use his outside run. Also photos from the MFC website is up. 22. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2016-01-22/vince-wants-to-step-up-further-after-taking-ownership-of-the-footy-club-in-2015 Pretty alarming article by Vince saying the only ones who really use their voice is Jones and Dunn.. Its quite obvious our leadership is still lacking in this area especially on game days. Yes players can lead through actions but voice is very very important especially with a young side like ours. This is why i wish we never got rid of Daniel Cross. Right up until his last game he was still showing real on field leadership. I also thought we should have at least rookied Jed Adcock. With Jamar and Cross as two senior veterans now gone i feel we are now lacking a bit of leadership and Voice on and off field.
  23. Good article on Oliver who is now living with the Brayshaw's http://www.aflplayers.com.au/article/new-demon-oliver-at-home-with-the-brayshaws/
  24. Saty mentioned that. The feeling i got that it was his personal opinion but i think he may have heard something from within the club.
