  1. Funny you mention this.. mentioned here before i spoke to Wines sister at a sports function up my way. She is a journalist. I asked her the question about weather Melbourne really did have a strong interest. She said that it was actually Mark Neeld who was the most keen. While the club showed interest in Oliver it already told them that If Toumpas was available they would select him over his brother. They believe he had more upside and the fact he already played against men was a big factor. Hawthorn and St kilda were the two clubs that had made alot of trips up to Echuca to interview him. Mark Neeld was a big fan of Wines and kept in close contact with him before the draft. At the end of the day he left it up to Todd for the final call.
  2. But i never said he will be better then Wines. Im saying that he will still be a good player for us down the track. Its people like you that are willing to write him off completely which history have shown on here that its far too early to tell. The whole Wines v Toumpas is stupid. We could have had had Zaharakaz instead of Blease. Sloane instead of Bennell and Fyfe instead of Gysberts.. [censored] happens hey? For me im still going to back him in until he is traded or delisted. The glimpse he showed against WB got me excited.
  3. No just not losing the faith as many are on here. The glimpse i saw against WB showed if he can put it all together he can become a handy footballer for us. He is obviously a confidence player. If we can continue to hold on to players like Mckenzie and Watts for so many years then Toump deserves a bit of time aswell. If you think im delusional your kidding yourself. Aren't you the one that thinks Stef Martin is still a spud and we made the right choice getting rid of him?? Now thats delusional right there.
  4. You certainly don't speak on my behalf.
  5. Il be honest, I was trying to sugar coat it...
  6. Only research I could find was that he was a prop for Xavier college in their rugby team. Having played rugby before, to be a prop you are generally have to be one of the strongest guys in the team with powerful legs to push against and have thick necks. If its true he is seriously considering his footy options and all goes well, we could be treated to a pretty powerful athlete in terms of body strength and power.
  7. If anyone wants a laugh head over to the Saints bigfooty. They have gone from calling him their saviour to rubbishing him and calling him fat and useless LOL
  8. Apparently the club put on a clinic for Christians mum whos birthday it was on draft night :-D
  9. What an absolute belter of an interview. These guys just rolled off each other looked genuine excited to be together and playing for the Melbourne Football Club. Lot of laughing and banter between em just love it. Thats what footys all about.Compare it to the dull and snooze fest interviews Scully and Trengove gave together couple of years ago.
  10. Still think Petracca will be read out by the saints. Either way McCartin or Prtracca will both be solid pick ups.
  11. Yeah I think thats going beyond the joke there.Seriously since when does having a messh room effect your footballing ability. Sorry but I must be the only one who think thats a bit too extreme.
  12. He might not be a leader but he can grow into one. Everyone is a leader in their own right. Adam Cooney was a smartass and cocky kid whk was always getting kicked out of his school classes for being a [censored]. Went on to win a charlie.Jack Darling Dustin Martin weren't leaders in their junior days. It hasn't stopped them to become bloody good players. What they are though are driven individuals who lead by actions and thats all Petracca has to be. But hey il take him if saints dont rate his leadership! :-D
  13. If thats the case please MFC dont let this one slip! And im getting pretty scared if could scare us off too!Just the history of not taking Darling and Wines really has traumatized alot of us.
  14. His name will be read first thing next thursday night.
  15. I'm a big fan of Lever aswell I pumped him up earlier on and said he will be a gun recruit. After thinking about it though I just don't think we just in a position to recruit a kid with pick 3 who hasn't played any footy this year and has done the dreaded ACL injury. Which has gone on to affect the careers of Max Gawn, David Rodan, Alex Johnson, Anthony Morabito and so on. With all the early draft picks we have had in the last couple of years we MUST absolutely nail this one!! If we don't we will go down as an even bigger laughing stock then we are already in wasting our picks. Our clubs reputation will sky rocket even higher. Get in guys that will most likely impact straight away e.g. Brayshaw and McCartin.
  16. Don't rate her and pay much attention to her too be honest.
  17. Agree.Still a bit disappointed we traded it for Frost even though I think he will come good we still needed to add more midfield class and depth especially if we are most like going to pick up McCartin... Would have loved Corey Ellis.
  18. Was reading this article and found this bit very interesting... Jack Trengove can make a full recovery from more surgery on his troublesome foot injury Brayshaw plays in the same TAC Cup side as Paul Roos son Tyler, who is eligible for the draft this year. The Sandringham Dragons flanker is an elite runner and seems unlikely to get to the Demons given they may have only three or four national draft picks. But Mahoney said the club was well equipped to deal with the conflict should Tyler become available at a pick that appealed. We have been through it before with (recruiting boss) Todd Viney and Jack Viney and it is also the same way we go about picking father-son selections, he said. We treat them like any other player in the draft pool. If they are highly rated and the player is available at a certain pick, they are the decision you make.
  19. I remember pre 2009 draft everyone was Saying we should take John Butcher at pick 1 because the combination of Watts and Butcher for the next 10 years would set our forward line up..
  20. Lmao 6 years??Port are the third youngest team in the AFL behind GWS and GC. They will be successful side for the next 10 years. I can see a Geelong or Hawthorn like golden years coming up for them.
