NON-MFC: Round 22
Every teams has an injury list.. we've actually had one of the betters injury list then majority of clubs this year. Look at Brisbane's with their ACL's to both the key players in Kiddy Coleman (close to winning a Norm smith) and Linc McCarthy who's pretty much their ANB clone in terms of forward half pressure and importance structure wise. They've also lost Darcy Gardiner who played in their grand final last year and would have been a solid depth defender for them. They've had their 2nd best key defender in Jack Payne who's missed 8 games this season and have had to move Hipwood down to defence. They've had Will Ashcroft who's one of their gun midfield talent missed half a year with an ACL injury. They too have played young kids and also brought in soldiers when needed. What's their excuse?

Goodwin is the MAN!
Good grief this is an awful take. Let's take a look at players who have kicked more then Harrison Petty this year. Ben Brown - 7 goals Max Gawn - 11 goals Jack Viney - 8 goals Christian Petracca - 14 goals Alex Neale Bullen - 8 goals Ed Langdon - 7 goals Kade Chandler - 17 goals Caleb Windsor - 8 goals. Daniel Turner - 12 goals He's played 18 games pretty much as a full time forward for a total return of 6 goals. Poor Benny Brown has only played the 6 games and he's still kicked more then Petty. I didn't add Pickett, Fritta and JVR because they've done what they're main objective is as a forward and that's to kick goals amongst other things. Then you have both our wingman and a back man who came to the year only having played 3 games that have already surpassed him this year with their goals tally. I understand that he contests well and will take the odd good strong mark, but your main role in all that is to kick goals and he simple doesn't do it. He's a defender first and foremost and a good one too. He's simply not a forward and it's been a waste of an opportunity with him down there. We have nothing for life after May unless Goody pulls the pin on this whole forward experiment thing which has been nothing short of a failure.

I had Turner, Oliver, Fritsch and Kolt as my preferred options. I know Turner started well but he faded incredibly bad in the 2nd half. He needs a big off season to improve his fitness because I think we see glimpse of what he was able to produce in the first half with some of his contested marking but when we needed someone to stand up in the last quarter to take a mark or two he was invincible. Like all young players these are good experiences for them to take into the pre season and really work hard on the deficiencies.

Or maybe they just had poor games? They both trained fine all week by all reports. Every loss we always seem to want to invent excuses. Chris Scott said the exact same thing after the preliminary final back in 2021 and he got absolutely smashed by our very own supporters on here. Goodwin says the exact same thing and some are happy to give him a pass. To be honest I thought there should have been others that should have been subbed out instead of JVR.

Mac Andrew
Sheesh well called mate.

Dan Houston
I saw nothing tonight that suggests he's worth pick 7.

Some need to ease up on Kolt. Yes he should have kicked it but you can name 50 other crucial moments where some of our more senior players were poor. Take Jake Lever for instance. How on earth can you let a 182cm small forward just take a relatively easy mark like that. Good learning experience for Koltyn.

People getting stuck into Jsck Billings who had s fine game and giving an out for Oliver is laughable. Whilst Billings was working his [censored] off along the wing Oliver was happy to just jog in between contests and have zero respect for his opponent. It was appalling to watch. Honestly wish Goowdin had the guts to sub him off instead of JVR. Send a message.

So predictable lol You just knew it was coming. We are officially the worst skilled side in the competition and some of the errors that was on tonight was utterly pathetic for full time athletes. Horrible and dour game plan that has duck the absolute enjoyment in watching this footy club. Time to officially put Oliver on the market. No more [censored] weak excuses. Paying this guy a million a year to dish up that performance was the last resort for me. Gawn battled manfully and was a clear BOG for us alongside Pickett, unfortunately he went to ground in the last crucial minutes of the game that got them going forward. Kozzie is a star. Great performance. Daniel Turner needs a huge summer to work on his fitness. First half had 8 disposals and 4 marks and was playing like Jonathan Brown. Only had 3 touches in the second half with zero marks. Was waiting for him to stand up. The effort was there but the skill level was genuinely appalling. Its incredibly disappointing the way we're finishing this year off.
