  1. Wowed that was weak by Lachie Hunter..
  2. Reminds me a fair bit of Chad Warner.
  3. Good lord Fullarton is absolute crud in the ruck contests. He really is a below VFL standard player.
  4. So you were disappointed we picked Kozzie over Bergman..?
  5. Jesus the term "star" gets banded fairly loosely around here.. A good up and coming young player but a star? Nah.. Kozzie Pickett, Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver are stars. This is his current stats playing as a half back/wingman.
  6. Wow.. bizarre decision to drop Laurie.
  7. I know for a fact we were monitoring him throughout the 2022 season before he got picked up in the mid season draft.
  8. That wouldn't be Wade Derksen by any chance would it..? Ps Welcome to Dland! Feel free to add any worthwhile trade talk 😁
  9. Big gan of chasing Edwards. He's a big 197cm full back who's also a good intercept mark as well. Would certainly be the Steven May replacement. I can't find anything though that has us linked to the Dees?
  10. Dominating school footy as we speak even as an under-ager. If he continues on the upward trend with his development then I can see him being talked about as a potential top 20 pick next year. Still a lot of water to go under the bridge but.
  11. I like Houston, I really do. He would have been the perfect Melbourne pick perhaps around 2021/2022, but I think with where we are at in terms of list demographic, I'd be happy to hit the draft and get a Cummings as a free agent.
  12. Put him on ice. Thanks for giving us some real highlights this year CW. I reckon he'll tear the pre season apart and we'll see him go up a level next year.
  13. I think what he's saying is more around the draft capital we would need to give up for him. Port will demand a first round pick. We currently have pick 8. Houston will be 28 next year and there is no way he's worth a top 10 pick in my honest opinion. With where we are at with our list management I think we need to bring in elite midfield talent through the draft and this year's draft is absolutely choc full of them this year especially in the pointy end. I've seen the talent on hand and if we can keep our pick then I'm pretty excited to see what Jason Taylor can work with. Giving up a first round pick for a 28 old half back flanker doesn't make sense to me as much as hes a gun. You can find cheap good half back flankers through the trade, draft and free agency. With Tassie coming in, we need to continue to stock pile on talent through the draft if we are to remain competitive. I can see someone like a Sid Draper for instance coming in and having an immediate impact for us in the midfield similar to a Sam Walsh or Matt Rowell. There are many like him in that first 1-15 bracket.
  14. Forget body shape, give me the Mick Nolan's of the world as our next ruck.
  15. Toby Conway would be the perfect Gawn replacement. Has done his time at Geelong for a few years now. 205cm tall 22 year old who would be ready to step in when needed. Watched a few of his games this year at AFL level and thought he handled himself pretty well.
  16. There was talk up here that Corowa Rutherglen Football Club were rumoured for have been into Teagues ear around the mid yeah for a senior coaching gig next year but I barely took notice as he was obviously still with the Tigers. Obviously this decision has been on the cards for a while it seems.
  17. Isn't Mars and Broadmedows the same place?
  18. If he accepts, then yes he can remain on the rookie list. It's an interesting space he finds himself being on the rookie list. When you're on the rookie list you're on a fairly reduced salary and I do wonder how that would affect his current family life with 3 kids etc. Though he's running a fitness business with Trent and Brooke Cotchin so I think he's doing well anyway.
  19. Here I was asking on Saturday night who the hell was this Peatling guy tearing our mids apart.. Played a ripping game and was dominant in the clearences.
  20. Lol it's fairly known around footy circles of Hunters off field issues. These issues have even filtered onto his time at the footy club. The club will want to go all out and win this weekend to give themselves hope of a chance at finals. With that mindset, you play your best team who are in form and Hunter is definitely not in form at all. I see Windsor could be in doubt this week, but even then I wouldn't select Hunter. I think if we do lose this weekend and mathematically out of finals reach I think they'll give him a send off game against Collingwood perhaps. By then you might even see retirement announcements from the likes of Hunter and Ben Brown.
  21. The club certainly won't give up and their mindset will be different to us supporters. But unfortunately the reality and realistic point of view is that we pretty much have to win all 4 games with a higher percentage. I can't see that happening. On form alone we are no way near a top 8 side. It's hard to go past Hawthorn and the doggies. I am satisfied where we now sit. With all the issues the club has faced this year it was always going to be a grind. This isn't about accepting a loser type mentality but more so I think it really has taken a toll and with the last few years the way it'd panned out I think a good reset is needed within the club.
  22. Really? Ask Richmond how they did it at the end of 2016, or Collingwood after the 2021 season. Look out how we nailed the 2019 draft with Jackson, Pickett and Rivers and then Bowey and Ben Brown the following year. It really can change quick smart if you absolutely nail your off season season with trades and draft.
  23. Nathan Jones in a Shane Crawford podcast openly stated that missing out in 2020 finals series was what set up the 2021 premiership. Whilst the club just missed out, he explained that that they knew that they had the list and belief capable of contending the following year. There was good exposure of games into first year kids in Rivers, Pickett and Jackson which also helped Jones also stated tha missing out on the finals forced the club into refining a few little things here and there, and then set themselves up for a huge pre season It's not a negative if the club misses out this year. I see huge positives in it if anything.
