Well written TL and i do agree with you in regards to turning this into a positive if Clayton decides to leave. At the end of the day the club is far bigger then the individual and this is something the coaching and list management would be having these discussions as we speak around what that potentially could look like.

But he was though Jaded.. He was disgruntled last year at the way he felt the club had managed his hamst injury even though Clayton went against Selwyn and the rehabilitations instructions and tried to push through/manage his injury like a pro. The club had to sit down with his management and family at the end of last year to soothe tensions over and implement support plan in place after all the [censored] hit the fan. The clubs support around him has been first class, but there comes a time where Clayton needs to also put his hand up and take some responsibility for his own actions. He's a grown adult. The Clayon Oliver story has carried noise since October last year and could continue to do so for the rest of his career. With that comes distraction and I'm not entirely sure this is something that club will want lingering on for years in the background. Maybe, just maybe that both Oliver and the club come to a mutual agreement at the end of the year that perhaps a fresh start at a completely new environment would benefit both parties moving forward. Goodwin has proven to make tough decisions on players who are much loved by the players and fans (See Jack Watts). Sometimes being in an organisation for so long can simply burn you out hearing the same voices all the time and it can then become a grind. Maybe this is now how he feels. Why change could benefit both parties is one, for Clayton's mental health perspective and a new lease in life, and two the club can simply move forward and start focusing in regenerating the list with fresh talent through the door.

  17. @croydick
  18. Playing against the Northen Bullants. Which is pretty much playing against an undersized EDFL ruckman at suburban level.
  19. I think this comes down to due diligence. I do agree with you and have been strong on this, even at Brisbane he barely played as a starting ruckman and when he was thrown in there he really wasn't all that good at all playing in that position. I watched the VFL round 2 game against Footscray earlier this year and Fullarton was rucking against a first year rookie in Lachlan Smith from the western Bulldogs who was picked up late in the draft last year. This Smith kid bullied Fullarton in the ruck and easily got a hold of him when it came to ruck duels. Going back on the due diligence part, bit like everyone else, I am very confused by this list management decisions of late and have been highly critical of Tim Lamb. I'm sure they had watched him play last year in the VFL, but even they would have seen he played more of a key forward and observed his ruckwork wasn't up to scratch. We clearly needed a back up mature ruckman during last year's draft and trade and one of the names I raised was 203cm Brynn Teakle who had just been delisted by Port. He's a genuine pure ruckman and I think he would have been perfect just to have there for moments like the Gawn injury. The frustration in all that was he got picked up again by North in this year's mid season draft a few picks after we selected Kentfield and has already played 6 games for them this year as a ready made mature back up ruckman.
  20. Recruited specifically as a back up ruck.
  21. A whack alright..
  22. Well this pretty much explains it.
  23. @DeeSpencer would you?
  24. This absolutely sums up what I've been saying for years on Tom Sparrow. Absolute nothing player that supporters are still asking the same old question each week on why on earth is he getting a game based on what exactly? I don't want to hear that he plays as a defensive midfielder because he simply doesn't, its the biggest myth i have heard on here. He doesn't tag, he doesn't play as a sweeper, nor does he actually defend in transition. His season alone this year.
  25. That's the issue though. A lot of red and blue nuffies on here still think this gives us credits in the bank, it simply doesn't. A lot has changed since then and people can't continue to use this excuse as a get out clause.
