I liked Eds honesty and clearly the players loved Goodwin which we all knew anyhow. The issue is, when players become way too comfortable and close to the coach then you start to get complacency and players dictate what they can and can't do. They run their own race which is a recipe for disaster. This has been going on for too long now and there been no accountability from coaches to leadership. Players need to take a huge chunk of responsibility for the sacking of Goodwin. The on field performance from the players and so called leaders has been simply unacceptable for 2 years now.

The pull for any new coach will be these two and the task of getting them back to their best. Under Goodwin, I was always in the trade Oliver camp, but someone like a Longmire could be the key. I would rather see how a new coach goes with Oliver and Petracca now. Maybe a new voice and fresh idea is what they need.

Short sighted view. He got them contending in a consistent manner year after year. 4 grand finals in total with a premiership as well. Malcolm Blight lost 3 grand finals with Geelong before winning two with Adelaide. Horse has proven track record on and off field.
