  1. Yes fair call. I'm a bit harsh on Smith at times just because his football nous worries me. But seeing that Goody was willing to put his balls on the line and select Smith over a well established defender in Hibberd was such a significant call, especially so late in the year coming up to finals. I think it was a courageous selection and showed why Goodwin isn't afraid to just play safe. You could mount the same case for Jake Bowey. Had Smith not got injured people's perception including myself, would have changed because we would be talking about Smith the premiership player. It's well obvious that coaching staff rate him enormously and have for a while. His body has let him unfortunately. I'd personally have no issues with him playing round 1.
  2. You could mount a case that every key forward last year was rubbish against us because we had a All Australian full back and an All Australian intercepting 3rd defender. No key forward was going to get past through them. 'Bin', I can't stand Daniher more then anyone. His face is punchable and he proved what a [censored] of a bloke he is by going after Jake Bowey in the first final before he [censored] himself when May and Viney retaliated. But he's not a rubbish footballer 'Bin'. Before injuries got hold of him he kicked 65 goals back in 2017 as a 22 year old and he was destined for superstar status. That's an amazing achievement for a young key forward at that age. Even this year alone after finally having a full season injury he still managed 46 goals which is a good outcome from a key forward especially someone who's had significant injuries that nearly ended his career. It's no wonder Sydney were willing to pay big and Brisbane actually did. Any team that has Joe Daniher still worries me because on his good day he can still kick 7.1. A bad day though is him kicking 2.6 You saying Smith would have Daniher's measure is simply laughable mate. Smith is nothing but depth at the moment and I would absolutely cringe and tear my hair out if I saw Smith standing next to Daniher because he would be far too good for him.
  3. Oliver also training.. Fair to say that there were no injury concerns to come out of last week's game?
  4. I had some concerns that Salem might have had a serious injury but going off today's training he seems fine which is good news.
  5. Footy has changed significantly since those days. So effectively 1 permanent winger has won the brownlow in what 40 odd years. Buckley was effectively an inside midfielder who could also rest up forward or half back. Not sure how much you saw of Buckley but his ultimate best was when he was starting in the middle. He was rarely a winger.
  6. Which players?
  7. Stats from last week's game.

Rollo, how are you old timer? Still shacking it up in Wang?
  9. Pretty offensive to Oliver.. Oliver is 10 times above the talent of Cripps. Other then that, a good summary.
  10. But he's done his ratings based on the body of work from the past 12 - 18 months. Not who's the most talented in the AFL. If he was going off talent alone then buddy Franklin would be sitting top 10 comfortably. Fritsch 2021 year alone year blows away DeGeoy's 2021 and 2020. I think you're also underselling Fritsch. Anyone that kicks 6 goals in a grand final off the back of a 60 goal year performance is a top 20 player of thr competition in my eyes.
  11. Jordan DeGoey at 46 but no Bayley Fritsch... Have a spell Callum Twomey and stick to reporting on the draft.
  12. Does anyone have any player stats of the game? I've seen other games have releaser total player stats but can't find anything on our game.
  13. Agree as well. Petty comes in straight away is a no brainer for me. I rate him extremely highly and think he's a huge loss so far. If Smith can keep his game simple and stay focus then there's no doubt he could play an important role for us. My concern with Smith is his lack of footy smarts during games. Yesterday was a good little step forward.
  14. I think Smith completely shutting down Zurhaar yesterday puts him right in the frame for round 1. It's obvious the coaches rate Smith very highly and like his versatility and speed. I've been critical of Smith in the past but I am lead to believe this is the first pre season he's completed without any injury niggles. It showed yesterday as I thought he was pretty impressive. I think the club has a difficult decision to make come round 1. There is one element that Tomlinson could play the lockdown role on the number 1 forward like Naughton which sets a domino effect with May taking the 2nd or 3rd best forward and Lever being able to take the more smaller forward but utilise his intercept marking ability. The other element is that Smith can play tall and small with his mix of speed, power and leap. Smith could take someone like Cody Weightman or even Jamarra Ugle Hagan if he plays. Hard choice for me. Lucky that's the coaches headache and not mine.
  15. Hodge like.
  16. I don't see it in Chandler to be honest. Haven't from the start and today's game didn't change that opinion. I too would like to see Bedford given a full game next week. I thought Smith did a great job shutting down Zuharr or however you spell it. Bowey was a bit sloppy and wasteful, but we forget that he's only 19 years of age and has played 7 games. Just clearing the rust.
  17. Oh dear this is grand final 2021 deja vu..
  18. May heading into rooms with the trainers.
  19. Casey playing afterwards?
  20. Geez he looks good doesn't he? I had him outside our best 22 come round 1 just with his age etc. But he looks fit playing like his 2017 form. On today's performance he plays round 1.
  21. Jeepers Ben Brown is killing it. Playing completely different to last year.
  22. High half forward
  23. Eek.. I know it's a practice game but we look [censored] unreal..
  24. McDonald looking set for a big year. Looks fit and sharp.
  25. Finger dislocation for Oliver by the looks of it.
