  1. Maybe they should have listened to Kelly O'Donnell who was the only recruiter who wanted Jack Carroll at this pick...
  2. Not entirely sure it was a first priority to be honest. Far more bigger concerns around certain positions on the ground.
  3. Agree. Said yesterday, but other then an upgrade on Jackson I haven't seen any evidence that we've improved our list to the point where I'm confident of a top 4 finish. Trade period hasn't finished but it's been disappointing so far.
  4. I don't care how the jumper looks. I just want a flag at the MCG. Is that too much to ask for instead.
  5. Not sure if you're actually legit or not, but this is honestly the most bizarre thing I've read on this page. In a big professional sporting organisation and you actually think this kind of weird wacked out scenario would actually exist? Todd Viney works for, and is fully entrenched with the North Melbourne Football club and absolutely owes no favour whatsoever.
  6. I think the religion talk needs to honestly have its own separate thread...
  7. Who's going to cave in first....
  8. I heard on the radio that Freo currently have pick 13 and pick 88... I am really lost now on how they're able to satisfy us with what we're after. Freo have royally [censored] themselves over.
  9. It's a good base line I agree. But how are we suppose to know how that talent can translate to AFL level when our coaching staff refuses to reward their strong form at VFL level? Geelong had 5 debutants this year and we had 1. And it's not even about how many player you debut, just another small example. But you could mount a strong case that at stages during the year the likes of JVR, Chandler, Laurie, Bedford, Dunstan could have all been given a fair go at AFL level. Anyway, trying not to be negative nancy.. will leave it at that.
  10. Pains me to say this but I'm loving the way Geelong have gone about it with their list management. Win a flag but haven't even rested on their laurels. They bring in 3 quality young talent in Bowes, Bruhn and Ollie Henry plus pick 7. They're bringing in freshness and looking at esy to regenerate their list while continuing to contend. Stark difference to how we went about last year when we brought in Luke Dunstan to spend majority of the year in the VFL. Even now, whilst Grundy is an upgrade on Jackson I'm not sure we've made much improvement with our list moving into next year. Talk of Gawn playing majority up forward simply does not fix our forward half issue at all. We've lost depth in Bedford and im not entirely sure of we have a plan in finding a replacement. Still a bit to go during the trade period, but it's a bit deflating watching other top sides like Brisbane and Geelong top up with some quality talent to fit their needs.
  11. The draft from about 20 onwards is pretty poor. Makes sense why we would be active this draft period.
  12. Jesus the word 'superstar' gets abused far too easily on here.. When I think of superstar I think of Dusty, Bont, Oliver, Cripps of the world. LJ hasn't showed anything remotely close to being potentially in the same calibre as these guys.
  13. Think this actually gets overblown a fair bit.. I just have more faith the guys who I have mentioned will turn out to be more rounded and well equipped to have better careers then Jackson because they're natural footballers who do show qualities that are similar to a Petracca, Jeremy Cameron and a Selwood. Big statement yes, but I'm happy to stick by this. And let's be honest, the early pick we get for Jackson, aren't we hoping they turn out to have better careers then him? Right now, Jackson is more of an athlete then footballer. He has enormous potential which I can see no doubt and don't worry I'm still disappointed to lose him, but all I see is another Mark Blicavs type who's handy plugging in holes in the ruck and burst in the midfield. Also think where the game is going there's a changing of guard in terms of the types of ruckman that are running around. These dudes are alot taller and physically bigger then I've ever seen before. Jacko being 199cm tall is almost considered on the short side now and just wonder if he'll ever be that dominant ruckman that everyone hopes for. Gawn, Grundy, Witts, English, Draper, McInerney These guys are example of the current ruckman running who are just taller and more physically bigger then Jacko is. Jacko certainly has the athletic ability to keep up but wonder if this will the downside of being a shorter type ruckman.
  14. No. I think Jackson long term will be a talent. I just don't see him being the generational talent that everyone sees. Career so far he's rated below average for hitouts won, hitouts to advantage, clearances and. I think he has poor forward craft and gets lost quiet easily when resting down there which is where he'll spend time when rotating with Sean Darcy. Ashcroft, Sheezel, Cadman Wardlaw I see being more natural footballers with more upside to be genuine game breakers.
  15. Beg to differ.
  16. If we trade pick 27 for Grundy that is a huge steal. Reading the salty Pies comments on social media justifies this.
  17. [censored] hell what a mess. Who am I kidding!?
