I'm not entirely sure we were actually that keen? One of Wright's weaknesses in his junior days was his perceived lack of competitiveness, in other words he was soft and we barely showed interest? During this period Paul Roos and Todd Viney had a mantra of only drafting players who were highly competitive and driven. Which makes sense why we had Jake Lever rated as a potential top 3 talent.

If it's true it doesn't make sense to me. We have Weideman and Brown who lack the physical presence imo and it doesn't make sense when Goodwin has a mantra of getting in players who are genuine competitors and compete. Then again, at the time I thought we did the right thing by staying away from Peter Wright..

Have no idea if this will come to fruition or even come out in the media and I put it down to pure speculation. Was just having coffee with a few mates who I hadn't seen for a while and one of them is heavily involved with the Murray Bushrangers under 18's as a development coach. We were speaking about the junior talent and then got talking about this year's trade period. Out of the blue he mentioned that apparently we've shown some interest in Josh Schache and have had chats to Josh and his management? I would like to think I can trust his word purely that he's got contacts within recruiting circles and Josh being an ex bushie. I have own opinion on this and I honestly don't think it's the right fit even though we're lacking a key forward.

This is correct and in response to @Kick_It_To_Pickett. WC have ruled out trading pick 2 for Jackson alone. They are though, open to the idea of splitting pick 2 to maybe two top ten picks which could help us get that pick we're after inside the 10.

The old 'but he's the heart and soul' comment has zero merit when it comes to making ruthless list changes especially when we're in our premiership window. Supporters dead set need to take off the red and blue romance glasses and look at from an on field perspective. We're here to win games and flags. Do whatever it takes to get there. Had we purely kept blokes on our list because they were the heart and soul then guys like Jack Watts ans Brent Moloney would have finished their career at the Dees. If shipping Harmes off brings us better quality from a playing perspective then it's a win already.

You do realise this was mostly all Tim Lamb work considering he was/is still our national recruiting manager who facilitated these deals during this period. Josh Mahoney was just a spokesperson in the media and general footy manager in the same role as what Alan Richardson. All credit needs to go to Tim Lamb and Jason Taylor for building our premiership team.
