Bartram - excellent holding job Bate - just occasional cameos Bennell - clever but limited Bruce - trojan and workhorse Davey - angry but effective Garland - did his job Green - classy as usual Grimes - confident and effective Gysberts - a revelation again Jamar - sublime palming again Jetta - creative second half Jones - one wonderful goal McDonald - 3 disciplined quarters Miller - provided a contest Moloney - regularly broke lines Morton - almost best form Rivers - continues to concern Scully - was well held Sylvia - enjoyed midfield freedom Trengove - was relatively quiet Warnock - took his chances Watts - must be dropped

Brock was interviewed last night on Fox 1 , 2 or 3 , and was incredibly positive about his time at Melbourne , commenting about the eternal fondness he'd feel for the club because it gave him his first chance . He was extremely forthcoming also about his admiration for the new blood at Melbourne , citing Gysbert's impressive debut , McKenzie ,and the Scullgoves ,as reason for great excitement amongst Demon fans . All in all Brock handled himself impressively and professionally . I had previously thought of him as a [censored] , but now he's only a half [censored]

On reflection , and after watching the replay ,I concede that I was probably too harsh on Frawley .
-
6 - Green - our only winner 5 - Gysberts - exciting debut 4 - Davey - lots of possessions , though rarely damaging 3 - Bartram - gave resting rovers no space 2 - MacDonald - only defender with aggression 1 - Bruce - consistent , and was used as a troubleshooter , mostly successfully
-
Bartram - not the worst Bennell - had no involvement Bruce - good under pressure Davey - prolific , not damaging Frawley - lowered his colours Garland - poor before injury Green - our only winner Grimes - needs a rest Gysberts- most impressive debutant Jamar - had no influence Jetta - seemed totally intimidated Jones - taught a lesson MacDonald - tough and useful McDonald - rarely near ball Miller - couldn't repeat heroics Moloney - needs a rest Morton - little to commend Rivers - game from hell Sylvia - made no impression Warnock - was not sighted Watts - nothing to excite Wonaeamirri - will be dropped
-
I think you'll find , and this is the reason he was not dragged , was that he was under instructions not to make any EXCESSIVE chases and stretches for the ball because of his suspect hamstrings . He is being taught to modify his running gait to ease his sinews back into ' steel springs '

6 - Jetta 5- McDonald 4- Jamar 3- Trengove 2- Miller 1- Bennell
-
Bartram - never appeared confident Bennell - great opportunist's game Davey - excellent stoppage game Frawley - strength and confidence Garland - worried by pace Green - experience was vital Grimes - was unusually quiet Jamar - true lionhearted effort Jetta - a significant return Jones - successful new role MacDonald - safe and important McDonald - Brownlow medal form Miller - silenced his critics Moloney - tough and relentless Morton - patchy but successful Rivers - didn't imbue confidence Scully - some important clearances Sylvia - terrific second half Trengove - dynamic and prolific Watts - classy and composed Wonaeamirri - needed the run McKenzie - important tagging role
-
It certainly used to be CC but he seems to have gone to ground recently

Great job , pretty much nailed everyone IMO

TBH I thought this was one of my more objective weeks ; where are we so different this week ?

6 - McDonald 5 - Warnock 4 - Grimes 3 - Jamar 2 - Moloney 1 - Scully
-
Bartram - was rarely sighted Bate - obviously under duress Bennell - tried but failed Bruce - had no influence Davey - quiet then worse Frawley - loose and ineffectual Garland - was shown up Green - couldnt get started Grimes - prolific but loose Jamar - can't criticize endeavour Johnson - probably not playing Jones - scarcely gave whimper McDonald - loved his endeavour Moloney - many ineffective disposals Rivers - game has passed Scully - no repeat heroics Sylvia - a major disappointment Trengove - couldn't handle pressure Warnock - impressive game again Watts - had some moments Hughes - cannot be retained McKenzie - just a game
-
According to the HeraldSun he had a 57% effective disposal rate . Read into that what you like .
-
I agree with the sentiments of the thread , but I think they got it wrong yesterday by retaining Johnson, and not making a late switch for a more agile player in the conditions , like the Bulldogs did with Roughead and Hill.
-
6 - Scully 5 - Warnock 4 - Jones 3 - McDonald 2 - Bruce 1 - Mckenzie
-
Bartram - great until clanger Bate - finally imposing himself Bennell - showed some magic Bruce - great shutdown game Davey - sometimes too clever Dunn - tried but flawed Frawley - always a rock Garland - steady and reliable Green - we needed more Grimes - prolific but wasteful Jamar - excellent in conditions Johnson - conditions didn't help Jones - disciplined and effective McDonald - excellent tagging game Moloney - we needed more Rivers - was always steady Scully - the perfect game Sylvia - couldn't get started Trengove - enjoyed the conditions Warnock - destroyed his opponents Hughes - didn't appear overawed McKenzie - wonderful last quarter
-
He is very slow , but made up for it in rounds 2-5 with quick ball movement , enabled by a lack of pressure from the opposition . He was found out against 2 teams who applied non-stop pressure in rounds 1 and 6.
-
Excellent changes IMO . Johnson is a very agile and multi-faceted tall man who is in fine form ( for Casey ) and provides far greater flexibility than Martin . Hughes has shown excellent form for Casey and provides an x factor with his strong marking for a shortish forward . McKenzie's return gives us back grunt and strong tackling that was missing last week .

Thanks Tess - if it happens again I'll sue ( removes tongue from cheek )

6 - Bruce 5 - Green 4 - Grimes 3 - Jamar 2 - Dunn 1 - Davey
-
Bartram - was not disgraced Bate - second half disappearance Bennell - just occasional glimpses Bruce - flawed but persevered Davey - too rarely involved Dunn - lots to like Frawley - crucial diposal errors Garland - rarely made mistakes Green - only winning forward Grimes - outstanding game again Jamar - was gallant again Jones - too rarely sighted MacDonald - game to forget McDonald - tried against odds Martin - cannot be retained Moloney - had no influence Petterd - not a target Rivers - a pleasing return Scully - only fleeting glimpses Sylvia - no messiah today Trengove - returned to earth Warnock - good despite pressure
-
It WAS bad but there have been worse - and all gainst the Dees.
-
6 - Moloney 5 - McDonald 4 - Bate 3 - Frawley 2 - Jones 1 - Jamar
-
Bartram - continued excellent year Bate - season's best game Bennell - only minimal involvement Bruce - effective but flawed Davey - sporadic but exciting Dunn - an important player Frawley -an outstanding performance Garland - some vital interceptions Green - always looked dangerous Grimes - not as prolific Jamar - outstanding tapwork again Jones - tireless and dynamic MacDonald - point successfullly proved Martin - didn't take chance McDonald - leader amongst men Moloney - dynamic leader's game Petterd - important early touches Scully - some genius handballing Sylvia - exciting game breaker Trengove - precise decision making Warnock - tough and focussed McKenzie - was not overawed
