Fritsch Out for 2 Weeks with Fractured Hand
pinkshark replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Stiff for Fritta. can I please ask anyone if they could give me the low down on if the Dees train tomorrow. In the city, so wouldn’t mind going for a squiz as have never done so before. Thanks -
Massive. Love him even more for sticking fat. Now just get on the scoreboard clarry, slow down just a little mate (less is more sometimes) and you'll be a superstar. This is another sign of... I whisper it quietly...that the club has changed. Our stars are not departing. If we can lock away Petracca then.. well... sheesh. That picture of him in the opening post? Dude is seriously ripped. He is a physical specimen of an athlete. Sort of a chubby doughboy draft night. Not any more.

Chocco is a legend. Roos a legend (but a bit soft as he was never up for it really - disappointing, but he started our revival post neeld). No coincidence things tick along better when we employ people who have walked the walk. None of this power point presenting new age coach [censored] that looks great, sounds great, but aint great. Yze as well must be making an impact. The transformation in our play is too stark for it not to be a result of their involvement. Well, the players are clearly verbalising it. Good on Goodwin for orchestrating the whole thing and being humble enough and not so stubborn to take these men on board. Our poor performances in Cairns last year are still to fresh for me to forgive and forget. But as time goes on, I look back on the Covid season and it seems rather mickey mouse now with all that went on with shorter quarters, bubbles etc. So I'm trying to let it go. Compared now with less rotations longer quarters, proper footy is back so lets hope Goodwin can continue to steer the ship in the right direction. Dont have to win a flag this year for him to stay on but he has to get us in finals for 2-3 consecutive years.

Over the moon to be proven wrong. 5-0? Just doesn't happen! I have no faith. hahahaha. sad, but true. (see what I am doing here?)

10 Reasons Why This is The Best Forward Squad
pinkshark replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually thought everyone was getting a bit carried away with Kozzie last year. All i was seeing was the headless chook. But yes you are right his development seems massively accelerated. The kids mum passed away, not yet 21/20 years of age?, playing in the high pressure cooker of afl senior footy, and influencing games in a major way. Unreal stuff. -
How good does it feel being 4-0? everyone has already said on here that was most clear about the game. I'm noticing better intelligence. Little things like 'soccering' the footy off the ground to our advantage in contested situations. For years ive watched other teams do the simple smart things like this against us and year after year we repeated the same mistakes. There is not as much interference between our mids, again, in contested situations. Everyone flying for the ball in packs and no one staying down is happening much less. The frustrations of watching us are less this year. Yesterdays win was a big, important win. I'm bleeding for some games to be put away earlier so I can relax a bit more when watching. The problem now of course is keeping a lid on it. Not us fans. The players and coaches. If we can not let this little run go to our heads then again, that will be massive improvement and growth because that is another area (getting ahead of ourselves)we absolutely suck at and the entire AFL community know it and will be expecting it. So this is a huge challenge we face as well. Blowing out Hawthorn would go a ways to making a statement with regards to this. A couple of other things...Chocco out there pregame revving a few of the lads up I loved. Comfortingly old school coach. I am a Goodwin critic of the highest order, but at 4-0 can't complain. Umpiring was appalling. As bad as I've seen. loving Hunts return to form (of which he has only ever been able to maintain for a few weeks at a time), bloody well hope this continues. Players look locked in. Challenged in each and every game. Undefeated still. [censored] wow!
-
i agree. we just have to support him.

He is a fu$%ing [censored]. Talks a load of absolute [censored]. Clown. He pondered at one point with regards to Kozzie: "he reminds me a lot of...was it.., was it, Aaron Davey?' Pretended to be some old [censored] bloke with no memory. He remembers Aaron Davey. My 11 year old threw his hands in the air at another point and shouted "Dermot Brereton would you just shut the hell up. You're talking absolute rubbish mate."

Call me a bit old fashioned but Nathan Jones quite frankly should be given respect by us all on here. We all on here have suffered miserably over the years supporting our not so mighty dees, and so too have many of the players. None more so than him. Same as TMac and Jetta. Warriors, for us, all of them . Jones deserves his 300th and I'm sure he'll earn it.

3 and 0. 3, in the end, comfortable wins. Cant ask for more than that. There is most certainly a more composed looking nature about how we go about things. Has to be yze and chocco's input. Jackson is extremely talented. His hands around the ground ball, willingness to compete, his reading of the play. 6 foot 6. Look out. I thought much of the hype around Kozzie was a bit over the top leading into last nights game. I sort of still do. But he was sensational and without him we lose. Hunt? playing great. Can you believe it. Jones, ticking along alright the old boy. Had his obligatory, weekly kick smothered but far from the headless chook who turned it over time and again in our cairns games last year. Brayshaw going good guns. Oliver needs to convert his scoring opportunities. Like all the great ones. Ah but I'm just happy...so good not to be depressed by round 3 for a change. If we now lock in, reset, keep everything in check, heads down, bums up, win another two of the next three, well then, I'd be getting pretty excited.

Like many on here, I'm very anxious. GWS look lost. They are. We should win based on form but that has proven to be a false line of thought this round. We need to win. The idea of us being 3-0 is dreamlike. I want us to just start winning. Week in week out more or less. No more [censored]. No more nervousness. Bring it on.
-
Reasonable suggestion I made. Very unmelbourne start. We actually have someone on the bench who has been there done that. No coincidence I say.. And what does goodwin have to do before he gets any credit? Ok then, comfortably make finals. At the very least.

Sparrows goal was massive. The young lad showed situational awareness, class, and accuracy! That happens at other clubs. Good sign.

So nice not to be depressed yet with our season. 2 for 2. Chocco's influence?
-
I reckon we have had maybe only one or two bags of 5 by a player in 10 years. Am I right? or am i just traumatised and my recollection is hazy as a result? Hogan I'm assuming both times.

me too. but its been a long time since he looked/was dangerous. its unlikely.

here we are. game time. premiership points time. The roller coaster begins... Come on Dees!!

Hahaha... Just doesn't happen!! Ever. I have no faith. hahahhah. sad, but true.

Anger was felt watching those Cairns games. They were unforgivable losses. Pathetic. I'll never forget them. Poorly coached.

who do you follow?

id love to see joel smith played up forward. athletically superior to anyone else. never been given a run up forward. defender my [censored]. whipping boy - anb - runs around week after week doing absolutely f a.
-
Can't argue with that. Not surprised to hear about AFL licensing and apparel manufacturers restricting stuff. Those AFL licensed stores an absolute bowl of [censored].

For years Ive been perplexed by Melbourne Merch. With our updated, simplified logo/rebranding a few years back I thought about time. Whilst it is an improvement, its still reasonably ordinary with such a lack of imagination and variety. But hang on...I take it all back now after having just jumped on. For my prayers have been answered...meat cleavers are now available for purchase. Ill say it again...MEAT CLEAVERS! F.M.D

Can he kick that distance? Never seen it.
