  1. I hope the question "What would Crossy do / be doing?" can have some impact on the players for some time to come, in their training, their preparation and (to some extent) their play. I was impressed by Roosy's reference to this aspect of Daniel in his words after Daniel's.
  2. Kardinia Park (my age), Round ? 2016: Bernie does a Round 3 2015 on him and MFC does a Round 12 2015 in them. Sweet!
  3. (Quite) a bit off topic, but wondering about Brendan McCartney, mentioned a bit on this thread. Does anyone know how 'well' he fits into the club? Seeing him at Casey games, he seems somewhat of a loner: parked on the other side of the ground at the 'Fields and, on Sunday at Sandy, buying a coffee and cake at the kiosk and parking himself at the fence rather than being with the coaching group, wherever they were.
  4. Is this a record? John Ralph's tipped margin in the Hun is 136 points (and he can only find it in himself to go 88 for Tiges over Dons and 77 Hawks over Lions). Does anyone ever go triple figures in tipping?? Cummon Dees, rub his nose in it. p.s. Bearing in mind the coaches recent comments, is JR perhaps a Melbourne supporter? sorry: 134. I does him a disservice
  5. Thanks for the reminder rpfc. I think I overstated with the use of 'worry' in my original post (I'm not one of the shadow-jumpers, I think - more likely to just stick my toe in occasionally!) I do think - and was left with this overall feeling after hearing the interview - that he's definitely 'invested' for the short/medium haul while the team becomes the special one of his belief. The equivocal answer about living in Melbourne was perhaps more about what he might do after that, and I meant to point it out as a piece of 'information'. Saying 'worry' made my post subjective, which I didn't intend. And, consistent with that, McQueen, I hope (think?) he likens current MFC to the 12 year old Jason Day and the team he believes it will become to the 17 August 2015 Jason Day!
  6. p.s. I must say, though, that there was otherwise a good feeling about his immediate life here (a running theme was his jibing of TMac on golf matters and other things. TMac as in the studio, too, I think, and they were fresh from a round at Albert Park; Jesse the hacker (his words, sort of) and TMac the Jason Day wannabe)
  7. Scratching my memory a bit, Sku (it's nearly a week now since I heard it live and tonight's libations are kicking in), but his answer was along the lines of a very limited list of "good stuff to do here" (and one - surfing - wasn't even 'here') as opposed to a deeper "I feel at home" response.
  8. This was interesting: http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/shows/rush-hour-with-james-brayshaw-and-billy-brownless/podcasts/ If you're OK to download the 53MB and get to the Jesse interview, his somewhat equivocal (look it up?) response to the "How do you like living in Melbourne?" question was where the worry lies for me. Meanwhile, though, it's great to have him with us - with a bunch of other good stuff (albeit spasmodically!), it makes watching/following the Dees a little bit better than it has been in recent years!
  9. This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loBAS8DPE3Q Start at 1:30
  10. Out of electronic 'earshot' until now, including even knowing what the result was! So, I think this post should now mean every Demonlander has now posted on this thread?! And from me, then, ALL OF THE ABOVE! (special mention to the Neal-Bullen lad, of course!)
  11. Circumstances prevented me seeing or listening to the game (except for a very positive review of the contest at half time on 774 (sorry - I'm a hyphen after all!)), so I'm not voting as such, but I'm struck by the relative positivity of this thread - notable absence of the usual "daylight the rest" after the first one or two vote-getters, for example - compared with the Postmatch Discussion. Is 'the big picture' a little better, then, than the immediate distress?
  12. Hey, Daisy, watch it with the hyphenation sledges! (Took me a while to decide to post this. And was I wrong to do so? )
  13. Grazman's post at 10 this morning - considered and expansive and quite probably on the mark. However, as an aid to helping us grasp it completely as an explanation of what is happening, can anyone set out in similar clarity and detail some actual passages of play during the two problem phases of last week's game - first the surrender of the 1st quarter dominance then the opposition's run away after half time - that support and demonstrate what Grazman has set out?
  14. Sorry if this has been noted somewhere between the OP and here but the OP refers to us currently being 3 from 9. In fact, if (when!) we win this weekend we'll be 4 from 9, JUST like '87... JUST sayin'. p.s. I have a separate thread, ready for bumping at an appropriate time, that wonders if 11 wins (or even 10!?) will be eight-worthy this year, compared with '87's 12 (our Hawks-caused % doesn't help though )
  15. I'm with you, sir. But just in case I need to get angry about unrecognition(?) sometime in the future, who ARE the people who decide the weekly nominations??
  16. Quadruple with the Caseys getting up handsomely! (I'll take 'em where I can get 'em ) Soooo. Gooood.
  17. Supercoach (for what it's worth): Hogan 110, McCarthy 114, and I'd say Hoges would have 'sentiment' on his side? p.s. I had him on my bench after the week off, AND, like a few others on here, traded Vanders out. Lost 10th vs 3rd by 22 but I DON"T CARE. Go Dees!
  18. Jeez it takes a long time to read through to here after a win like that! So. It turns out the cheap red works nicely in ALL circumstances. And NOW I'm onto the single malt. Haven't seen any vision yet - first missed 'G game for the year (forced) - but by all accounts I'm so pleased for the boys, particularly the maligned ones.
  19. So many threads this could go on!... Overheard in my local shops this morning: "Just you wait. It always happens to Melbourne. He'll be sacked the week they're playing us so it'll be the fired up first up win for the caretaker situation." Note: Trigg last night: "We've always said we'll review it in the second half of the season"; They have Brisbane in Brisbane the week before.......... (Needs emoticon - not sure which!)
  20. Bummer, faulty. Hope it is a good weekend for you then... And that'd be the Cottees red?
  21. This ... though the libation of choice differs in the two scenarios (single malt vs cheap red). 'Oblivion' is also a bridge just too far these days...
  22. More of this, then, eh? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FQvyxYLqTw from 2.55. I moved to that end for that last quarter and was sitting right behind it. Clearly (sadly?) I still remember it!
  23. The 3 games I've been to. I admit it's hard to see the 'big picture' sitting where the atmosphere is (ground level, behind the goals) but the frustration for me in yesterday's game was that so much of the stuff that the boys were able to do that made the other two so exciting was missing, and there didn't seem enough in what Sydney was doing to explain all of the difference.
