  1. Sincere apologies: It was Energy Watch I was trying to think of. When I couldn't, Kaspersky came to mind, because I remember my "who are THEY?" reaction, me being on the computer-illiteracy spectrum (it was a great story how it came about though, I remember). My question still stands, though: does anyone know anything more about Greenwood?
  2. I'm going to be a bit wet-blanketish here and ask if anyone knows anything about the credentials of 'Greenwood Capital'. I'll be happy to hear good news. It's just that I think we've experienced the odd 'short term' (shall we say) sponsor before (Kaspersky anyone?) Mr Google tells me about a 'Greenwood Capital' from (I think) the US and a 'Greenwoods Capital' based in China, and 'Greenwood Capital Burwood' only brings up the MFC web page article. I also wonder to what extent "an investment company ... featuring a diverse portfolio including property, health centres, Australian food exports, and cultural exchange" will engage us with the 'Chinese community? I hope they can, and I'm not complaining about the income either (though: How much? What form?) Nor am I complaining about the strides that Peter J and his team continue to make. And I like the Chinese New Year association and activities (will definitely try to be there - I'm a child of the fireworks-for-all age!) I just don't want any egg on anyone's faces with this.
  3. The night grand final that year (my "I can't stop watching...") was a precursor to the events at the end of the year. I saw it interstate (maybe it wasn't broadcast in Melbourne?) Buzzed! I did not get to sleep that night!
  4. Sorry if this has been raised/asked before in this looooong thread (or the other JM thread), but which of our rookies do we think will be the elevated to replace JM? The chosen player will, to some extent (maybe substantially?), offset or compensate for the lost year of JM's services. Another possible 'offset' to the damage for us, by the way, is what might be unfolding for how Essendon can accommodate its additional players in their salary cap: that is, I suspect, that there will be an AFL-proposed/endorsed arrangement that the suspended players, because they are not 'playing', will become outside the player salary cap (though maybe not the 'taxable' football department spend). So JM would go outside our cap, if that is relevant to the rookie, or for some other reason.
  5. I hope any of you that have been to the brilliant games so far, as I have, will agree with me that MFC has to have a women's team and it has to be part of the fabric of the club. As such, Demonland 'as is' would cover it, for its highs and lows, goods and bads, likes and dislikes - the same as, for example, Casey (or a future standalone or Ressies or whatever) is or would be included. Personally I'm looking forward to an MFC womens team in 2017 doing what the Melbourne City women are doing right now! Silverware!
  6. Thanks Jack! But remind us; how on earth did you become a Melbourne supporter?! (I suspect a strong-minded mother!)
  7. Jack, remind us, how on earth did you become a Melbourne supporter?! (I suspect a strong-minded mother!)
  8. ...and if I were a government minister that would warrant my resignation!
  9. Jason Taylor this arvo: “We’ve just got a few little things we need to tick off in the next six days, but we fly out on Sunday to Adelaide, but we’re pretty close [with deciding on who we’re taking at pick No.3],” Any clue here? (though it could relate to later picks)
  10. My name compels me to contribute and, perversely, consigns it to redundancy! I presume the wish (intent?) to include "Melbourne" in the song is another avenue of 'claiming' it for ourselves, to the exclusion of others, which appears to be a motivator in the other current activities. So, my suggestion - a nod here to jnrmac on 13 November, but getting the meter right, removing an unnecessary repetition ("the team") and providing another SHOUT opportunity like WADDA WE SING - is "It's the emblem of the team we love, MELBOURNE, the red and the blue". Just if it gets to the point where the change push prevails...
  11. Alistair Nicholson CEO of the Australian Cricketers' Association. Where does THAT come from?
  12. Well, we've already said goodbye to Our vain Howe. Is that in the right spirit for this thread?
  13. Sorry if this has been raised before (it's a big thread to catch up on!), but should we set any store by the choice and ordering of players the club website has chosen in its 'countdown to the draft' articles? 1. Francis 2. Curnow 3. Ah Chee 4. Parish
  14. I think (but am not certain) that there was a bit of an 'opt out' automatic renewal put in place for this year, hence the higher number? So, for example, the club thanked me this week for my renewal whan I hadn't actively done it yet as I have in past years (around about season start - usually for financial reasons!) I'm not unhappy that the club made an early call on what I'd be doing anyway, but this might explain earlier higher numbers.
  15. Or not? So asserts Mr "We won't trade pick 10" Mahoney : http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-10-22/dees-unlikely-to-add-delisted-free-agents
  16. (In the spirit of this and the more recent posts ); no, you GAVE ToUmPas
  17. I "Rate our Trade Period" - as opposed to what it's outcome might be in due course (though I'm optimistic there, too) - as a definite 'A' for the engagement, suspense and entertainment it has provided me following it's twists, turns and progress on here!
  18. As an aggro type (apparently), anyone in the current playing group he's rubbed up the wrong way?
  19. As a matter of interest, who else does his agent represent? Does his agent have 'form'?
  20. Interesting interview with Christian on the club website includes this regarding the Hawthorn game where he sustained his first hammy: “From a workload point of view, I played on Brad Hill, Cyril Rioli and Paul Puopolo in that first quarter. That quarter is when I did it and they were coming on fresh each time [off the interchange] and just blew me up...Looking at the GPS numbers a couple of days after the game...I did more long distance sprints in that first quarter than a normal game average for me, which is ridiculous.” It's certainly impressive, from Christian's point of view in terms of his effort, but possibly also an indictment on game-day management that the young fellow played apparently unchanged (relatively?) on those 3, vastly more experienced and playing fresh. Views on the latter?
  21. (Re)interrupting this thread to apologise to Faulty and Ethan, and any others, for my cryptic, punctuationless post (24 Sept). Yes, Aberlour is a 'Highlands' single malt, from Aberlour on the River Spey, due north of Edinburgh / due east of Inverness and, yes, I (generally!) reserve it for wins. Hence "lookout 2016!" (positive, positive, positive...) Resume normal transmission.
  22. Me Aberlour (wins only - look out 2016...)
  23. So we have to find ways to stop them getting into our heads? Sorry...
