Grimley, Lovett or Hawthorn? (I think I know though! - rjay's response noted ) -

The Keith "Bluey" Truscott Memorial Trophy - 2015
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Great work reporters - thanks!. Couldn't get there this year so this thread was fun to read after I dragged myself away from the teev, from a pleasant night of watching the Hawks succumb and, in the ad breaks, seeing the Storm get up and the Aussies knock it around the park against the Poms. Well done Bernie (my vote along with the majority of DLanders) and the other 300-ers, Jack, Tom, Jesse and Nathan, and also the '200 club' (nice to see Jeffy G there). -

Was Brett Lovett (refer separate thread) the last player we had out of the Hawthorn system? I like the idea of getting someone from there! (separate question whether he could be the one but sounds OK as described by AAC) -

Roos said yes to that question - the sub part - in (I think) a recent presser. -
Loved the tap work, and the powerful presence he could be in the air generally when 'on', per his highlights on the Club site (tried not to look at the scorelines tho!). Fare well, Mark.

Games Jack selected for (particularly at end of season) vs games Mark selected for - somewhat of a difference, methinks, Your Honour. Anyway, back to Jeremy...

Ahh, 1987 - my collective favourite football memory! The squad that embarked on 1987 (those with career 50-plus-Firsts-games): From 1986, Bret Bailey, Adrian Battiston, Tony Campbell, Chris Connolly, David Cordner, Simon Eishold, Rod Grinter, Greg Healy, Danny Hughes, Steven Icke, Ricky Jackson, Alan Jarrott, Alan Johnson, Brett Lovett, Garry Lyon, Peter Moore, Stephen Newport, Russell Richards, Steven Stretch, Sean Wight, David Williams, Brian Wilson and Graeme Yeats, joined for 1987 by Glenn Lovett, Steven O'Dwyer, Earl Spalding, Jim Stynes, Todd Viney and - with a little licence (32 games) - Warren Dean. 1987-to-2016 individual comparisons anyone? R. Flower (d'oh!), Peter Giles (the only 1970s debs still around in '87)

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a limit on years as a rookie? I think Max K has had 2 years already? -
Post Match Discussion - Round 23
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't think anyone else has mentioned it: It seemed that each time Daniel C had a hand in the play the scoreboard flashed "Thanks Crossy"? Nice. -
After today I think we can be fairly selective about the 'experienced' players we get in (if any). By which I mean NO...

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?

Norf in Round 1, please! MCG, too (though nothing to fear at Colonial any more) -
FAREWELL DANIEL CROSS
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope the question "What would Crossy do / be doing?" can have some impact on the players for some time to come, in their training, their preparation and (to some extent) their play. I was impressed by Roosy's reference to this aspect of Daniel in his words after Daniel's. -
Kardinia Park (my age), Round ? 2016: Bernie does a Round 3 2015 on him and MFC does a Round 12 2015 in them. Sweet!

(Quite) a bit off topic, but wondering about Brendan McCartney, mentioned a bit on this thread. Does anyone know how 'well' he fits into the club? Seeing him at Casey games, he seems somewhat of a loner: parked on the other side of the ground at the 'Fields and, on Sunday at Sandy, buying a coffee and cake at the kiosk and parking himself at the fence rather than being with the coaching group, wherever they were.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 22
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is this a record? John Ralph's tipped margin in the Hun is 136 points (and he can only find it in himself to go 88 for Tiges over Dons and 77 Hawks over Lions). Does anyone ever go triple figures in tipping?? Cummon Dees, rub his nose in it. p.s. Bearing in mind the coaches recent comments, is JR perhaps a Melbourne supporter? sorry: 134. I does him a disservice -

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the reminder rpfc. I think I overstated with the use of 'worry' in my original post (I'm not one of the shadow-jumpers, I think - more likely to just stick my toe in occasionally!) I do think - and was left with this overall feeling after hearing the interview - that he's definitely 'invested' for the short/medium haul while the team becomes the special one of his belief. The equivocal answer about living in Melbourne was perhaps more about what he might do after that, and I meant to point it out as a piece of 'information'. Saying 'worry' made my post subjective, which I didn't intend. And, consistent with that, McQueen, I hope (think?) he likens current MFC to the 12 year old Jason Day and the team he believes it will become to the 17 August 2015 Jason Day! -
The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
p.s. I must say, though, that there was otherwise a good feeling about his immediate life here (a running theme was his jibing of TMac on golf matters and other things. TMac as in the studio, too, I think, and they were fresh from a round at Albert Park; Jesse the hacker (his words, sort of) and TMac the Jason Day wannabe) -

Scratching my memory a bit, Sku (it's nearly a week now since I heard it live and tonight's libations are kicking in), but his answer was along the lines of a very limited list of "good stuff to do here" (and one - surfing - wasn't even 'here') as opposed to a deeper "I feel at home" response. -

This was interesting: http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/shows/rush-hour-with-james-brayshaw-and-billy-brownless/podcasts/ If you're OK to download the 53MB and get to the Jesse interview, his somewhat equivocal (look it up?) response to the "How do you like living in Melbourne?" question was where the worry lies for me. Meanwhile, though, it's great to have him with us - with a bunch of other good stuff (albeit spasmodically!), it makes watching/following the Dees a little bit better than it has been in recent years! -

Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Out of electronic 'earshot' until now, including even knowing what the result was! So, I think this post should now mean every Demonlander has now posted on this thread?! And from me, then, ALL OF THE ABOVE! (special mention to the Neal-Bullen lad, of course!) -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 11
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Circumstances prevented me seeing or listening to the game (except for a very positive review of the contest at half time on 774 (sorry - I'm a hyphen after all!)), so I'm not voting as such, but I'm struck by the relative positivity of this thread - notable absence of the usual "daylight the rest" after the first one or two vote-getters, for example - compared with the Postmatch Discussion. Is 'the big picture' a little better, then, than the immediate distress?
