  1. ...and if I were a government minister that would warrant my resignation!
  2. Jason Taylor this arvo: “We’ve just got a few little things we need to tick off in the next six days, but we fly out on Sunday to Adelaide, but we’re pretty close [with deciding on who we’re taking at pick No.3],” Any clue here? (though it could relate to later picks)
  3. My name compels me to contribute and, perversely, consigns it to redundancy! I presume the wish (intent?) to include "Melbourne" in the song is another avenue of 'claiming' it for ourselves, to the exclusion of others, which appears to be a motivator in the other current activities. So, my suggestion - a nod here to jnrmac on 13 November, but getting the meter right, removing an unnecessary repetition ("the team") and providing another SHOUT opportunity like WADDA WE SING - is "It's the emblem of the team we love, MELBOURNE, the red and the blue". Just if it gets to the point where the change push prevails...
  4. Alistair Nicholson CEO of the Australian Cricketers' Association. Where does THAT come from?
  5. Well, we've already said goodbye to Our vain Howe. Is that in the right spirit for this thread?
  6. Sorry if this has been raised before (it's a big thread to catch up on!), but should we set any store by the choice and ordering of players the club website has chosen in its 'countdown to the draft' articles? 1. Francis 2. Curnow 3. Ah Chee 4. Parish
  7. I think (but am not certain) that there was a bit of an 'opt out' automatic renewal put in place for this year, hence the higher number? So, for example, the club thanked me this week for my renewal whan I hadn't actively done it yet as I have in past years (around about season start - usually for financial reasons!) I'm not unhappy that the club made an early call on what I'd be doing anyway, but this might explain earlier higher numbers.
  8. Or not? So asserts Mr "We won't trade pick 10" Mahoney : http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-10-22/dees-unlikely-to-add-delisted-free-agents
  9. (In the spirit of this and the more recent posts ); no, you GAVE ToUmPas
  10. I "Rate our Trade Period" - as opposed to what it's outcome might be in due course (though I'm optimistic there, too) - as a definite 'A' for the engagement, suspense and entertainment it has provided me following it's twists, turns and progress on here!
  11. As an aggro type (apparently), anyone in the current playing group he's rubbed up the wrong way?
  12. As a matter of interest, who else does his agent represent? Does his agent have 'form'?
  13. Interesting interview with Christian on the club website includes this regarding the Hawthorn game where he sustained his first hammy: “From a workload point of view, I played on Brad Hill, Cyril Rioli and Paul Puopolo in that first quarter. That quarter is when I did it and they were coming on fresh each time [off the interchange] and just blew me up...Looking at the GPS numbers a couple of days after the game...I did more long distance sprints in that first quarter than a normal game average for me, which is ridiculous.” It's certainly impressive, from Christian's point of view in terms of his effort, but possibly also an indictment on game-day management that the young fellow played apparently unchanged (relatively?) on those 3, vastly more experienced and playing fresh. Views on the latter?
  14. (Re)interrupting this thread to apologise to Faulty and Ethan, and any others, for my cryptic, punctuationless post (24 Sept). Yes, Aberlour is a 'Highlands' single malt, from Aberlour on the River Spey, due north of Edinburgh / due east of Inverness and, yes, I (generally!) reserve it for wins. Hence "lookout 2016!" (positive, positive, positive...) Resume normal transmission.
  15. Me Aberlour (wins only - look out 2016...)
  16. So we have to find ways to stop them getting into our heads? Sorry...
  17. Say what!? ...and you forgot AN-B
  18. Grimley, Lovett or Hawthorn? (I think I know though! - rjay's response noted )
  19. Christian: 10 games for 113 = 260 = 6th this year Maxy: 13 games for 134 = 237 = 8th this year (with CS at 6th)
  20. Great work reporters - thanks!. Couldn't get there this year so this thread was fun to read after I dragged myself away from the teev, from a pleasant night of watching the Hawks succumb and, in the ad breaks, seeing the Storm get up and the Aussies knock it around the park against the Poms. Well done Bernie (my vote along with the majority of DLanders) and the other 300-ers, Jack, Tom, Jesse and Nathan, and also the '200 club' (nice to see Jeffy G there).
  21. Was Brett Lovett (refer separate thread) the last player we had out of the Hawthorn system? I like the idea of getting someone from there! (separate question whether he could be the one but sounds OK as described by AAC)
  22. Roos said yes to that question - the sub part - in (I think) a recent presser.
  23. Loved the tap work, and the powerful presence he could be in the air generally when 'on', per his highlights on the Club site (tried not to look at the scorelines tho!). Fare well, Mark.
  24. Games Jack selected for (particularly at end of season) vs games Mark selected for - somewhat of a difference, methinks, Your Honour. Anyway, back to Jeremy...
