I’d take Grundy he is still one of the premier rucks in the league if fit and I don’t believe any of his injuries are debilitating. Just a question of at what price. If pies are willing to cover some of the contract and not require much in the way of picks then I’m all for it. If we could get him by paying 650k and a 2nd round pick I think that is a win.

Don’t see us finishing top 4 now, we probably beat blues and loose to lions meaning we finish 5th making a flag extremely unlikely, not that we would deserve it. We haven’t beaten probably the 3 main contenders in Cats, Swans or Pies this year, hard to see us going through at a minimum 2 of them of on a way to a flag when we haven’t all year.

The fwd line didn’t get 100 points scored against them for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, this is a defensive problem. If we are needing to score 100+ to win games we have already lost.

Feel like the best proxy for Jackson I’ve seen is Paddy Ryder who won an Anzac medal as a young ruck after taking over due to injury mid game. Not dissimilar to Jackson in the grand final last year during the 3rd qtr. Also handy as a resting fwd but not to the point he could play as a genuine fwd full time. It’s what makes Freo throwing big money at Jackson so bizarre when they arguably have the best young ruck already in Darcy. Surely they have other needs to address first. Jackson will probably go ok as fwd but you really want to be playing him as a 1st ruck to get full value and in a few years that would naturally happen at dees. At Dockers baring injury he might never get the chance.

Not sure how we make him stay if he nominates freo, our only bargaining chip is a game of chicken where we risk getting nothing and hope he grudgingly signs than risk going in the draft and ending up somewhere else. Best forget any ideas we even get back what he cost in a pick 3 in any trade let alone more. The best we can hope for is freos first this year and next. There won’t be any star players coming back our way.

Brown and JVR come in for Weid and Jackson. If JVR performs I’d leave it that way, Jackson is just a distraction at this point.

What I don’t understand is how we a premiership team can’t attract any of the better key fwds over and yet freo is able to poach Jackson. What is going on

Have to say although we won a flag and he played a key role in that I didn’t see a long term position for him in the team playing off the wing, but this year playing out the back really changed my opinion, I think this role really suits him and you can’t fault his commitment to attacking the ball really raises the bar for everyone else to follow.

Not sure but why can’t we do the same, if he wants to go back to Perth come hell or high water then see if WC will come to the party at least they have the picks that can satisfy us. If Freo won’t offer a half decent deal I’d rather see him walk into the draft before letting Freo just walk all over us. Perhaps he might come to his sense and sign on another term if a deal can’t get done.

Just realised freo taking Jackson is payback for dees taking Jeff White, how did they do out of that trade?

Every time you here him speak he genuinely come across as loving the club and the other players he seems like the type to wear his heart on his sleeve so the only question is why hasn’t he signed yet.

Elite for a ruck below average for a mid and that’s the issue how valuable is an elite ground ball ruck when a mid does a better job every day of the week

Can’t see him staying if he hasn’t signed on yet, we are reigning premiers and are in the frame for years to come, we would be offering a fair price considering who else we have to fit in. If he hasn’t signed with us yet he is just waiting till end of year to announce who he wants a trade to.
