  1. Disagree. Firstly, he was sub or subbed out in 4 games, so his average becomes 13.76 without those. He was never the same after getting concussed in the opening minutes of the West Coast game when he never came back on. His attack at the contest and around the stoppages was immense. His goal assists were phenomenal for a first year player. And you can't compare his year to Saad. Do you realise how much easier it is to play behind the ball and run around at half-back ? Chalk and cheese to the role Brayshaw had to play. Btw, Judd is rightly lauded for his fantastic first year where he was runner up to Riewoldt in the RS. He averaged 15 possessions. You're reading far too much into the possessions of a first year player. Pendlebury averaged 13 in his first year. If you think Brayshaw is "fairly overrated" I question your acumen.
  2. I've put up with some horrible players over the decades and Dom Tyson isn't one of them. He made mistakes he wouldn't be proud of, but he also plays where there's the most heat. I'll cut him some slack in the first game of the year.
  3. There's a tilt in my kilt and glide in my stride.
  4. Where was the "hard red line" ? I merely gave an observation that his talent, or lack thereof, would render him out of our best 22. Seemingly, the coaches agree.
  5. Perhaps the coaches also have concerns re Grimes being best 22 judging by his omission. Your take ?
  6. It's a bit of a myth that Cripps is slow. Anyone remember how quick he looked last year out of the centre square when he monstered Melbourne ? I've watched him a lot since then and he's not slow. Even on Thursday night he didn't look slow when he ran into goal. So I thought I'd dig back to when he was drafted and I found an interesting comment: "Cripps also has some toe that serves him well when shifted to a wing or across half back." http://www.scpaige.com.au/2013-national-draft-verdict/
  7. Incredible stoppage player. His ability to get first hands on the footy, have composure and use it well is without peer. He's an ordinary kick, but it hardly matters. His size makes him unstoppable. Funnily enough, he was hopeless in his debut game against the Dees at the G. Truly hopeless. We judge footballers quickly. There are limitations on his style though. He'll never do damage like a Fyfe, Ablett, Judd, Dangerfield or Petracca
  8. Roosy has been great for the club, but I'm not sure Goodwin will want him hanging around. I'm not sure I do either (not that that matters).
  9. You might like it, but it's not going to happen, nor should it happen.
  10. They need 3-4 weeks each at Casey. All going well they'll play rounds 5/6.
  11. User Actions Following Brett Anderson‏@BrettAndersonIF Good news for the Dees with Petracca starring in intra-club and Trengove not just getting through, but playing well. #AFL 6:32 PM - 24 Mar 2016
  12. Nah, it's definitely Oscar over Dunn and there have been whispers over summer that he was ahead in the pecking order. Brayshaw is best 18, but Roos said (intimated) on the club website in a recent interview that he's a little underdone. He'll be back in quickly. Matt Jones was always going to play and this has been mentioned a number of times in the round 1 thread. But don't take any notice of the positions they put players in. He'll play an outside wing role. Grimes isn't best 22 despite what some supporters think. I can't wait until Petracca, Brayshaw and Trengove get in to this team. Three top 3 draft picks waiting in the wings.
  13. You've been on this site for years, but you don't realise that the squads named prior to round one on the Wednesday night aren't club sanctioned ? Extraordinary.
  14. I've said it longer.
  15. Actually, I was wrong when I said that. On SEN yesterday afternoon he said it's how he ranks players "now" and not what he expects at the end of 2016. I stand to be corrected, but I believe this is at odds with Sheahan's previous top 50s.
  16. Isn't it more to the point that he's not ruling anyone out 3 days before match committee ?
  17. I'm not sure why some supporters cringe, as Roos' suggestion is not only plausible it has to be the club's private (and public) goal. I'm of the belief that NO club is ever more than 7-8 years from a flag on the proviso they do everything right and have a modicum of luck. People forget that Hawthorn supporters were calling for Clarkson's head in his first year (2005), yet by 2008 he had a flag in his bag. Matthews won a flag in his third year at Brisbane and within 5 at Collingwood. Sydney won in 2005 and again in 2012 - only 5 players played in the second (I can hear COLA being typed). Malthouse lost the 2003 GF went back down the bottom and 7 seasons later won in 2010. Bomber Thompson won in his 8th season. Start up teams Port, Crows and Eagles all won in the 6-8 year period from their inception (I'm not going to analyse every advantage granted to them). This is Roos third season and it's obvious that we finally have genuine talent on our list. To suggest that we have every opportunity to fight for a flag within 3-5 years is reasonable and within historic 7-8 year time frames.
  18. That would be unlike you.
  19. I agree. We should have the edge around the contest and they're better runners. it's a toss up either way for me.
  20. I didn't think it could be a genuine question, because of course ineligible players wouldn't be ranked. It's for the 2016 season.
  21. My Nephew knocks around with a number of Melbourne players. They respect Roos, but love Goodwin. They relate to Goodwin's communication skills more than any coach they've had. I love what Roos has done for this club, but can't wait for Goodwin to be in charge. It will be a fantastic handover and I hope Roos takes a more managerial role and allows Goodwin to keep being the main voice they hear.
  22. It could only be a pi55take.
  23. It makes no difference whether you consider them different types (and you're splitting hairs) they're competing for the same position.
